The Old Man is a character in the Peasant's Quest. An elderly old man with absolutely no luck at fishing. In the quest, you'll help him catch a nibble and he'll open the inn for you. He's not included in the Movie Trailer. If you throw him the baby, he'll get REALLY mad.
