Sorry, just courious: Why can't you legally sell any products or advertising space on the site? It's not that I'm in favor of putting up banner ads, but what is illegal about it? --Rgb9000

If we sold stuff or put ads up, we'd be making a profit off of someone else's (someone else being The Brothers Chaps) creation, which is a no-no. →[[User:FireBird|FireBird]]
Hmm, that's true. But even though you don't sell anything, doesn't this site still violate TBC copyrights? Not that I think they would mind, this is more publicity for their site, but just technically I think it is already not-so-legal. --JZ

I see. I thought that the brothers chaps knew about this places existence and were okay with it though. Don't we forward people into their site? I can see how if we sold our own brand of H*R merch, that would subtract from them and therefore be lawsuit city, but I'm suprised you aren't able to but up simple banner ads. Why don't you sell ads to them? Like have a link to the homestarrunner store at the bottom of every page? Makes sense to me. --Rgb9000

We are likely pushing "fair use" to its limits. Without any images, we would be just fine, but all the pics make it iffy. If we sold ANYTHING with the words "Homestar Runner" printed on it we would be in big doo-doo. - Dr Haggis - Talk 20:54, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

I don't think so. The HRWiki isn't making a profit off of H*R. The HRWiki doesn't have its own line of H*R merchandise. And screenshots are fair use.—StrongstarRunbad 15:49, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
