You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Some of us even falsified evidence (screenshots of the email, for example) to demonstrate how it's next to impossible to prove authorship. The only real proof would be evidence accessible to others which is time-stamped in such a way it could not have been falsified, such as a blog posting or appearance on one's user page here prior to the email's release.
