I discovered Homestar Runner via Experimental Film, being a rabid They Might Be Giants fan. My English teacher (out of all people) suggested this sbemail to me. (She was also a TMBG fan.) I instantly got hooked.
Upsettingly, I got hooked just as the 200th email came out, so I was deprived of the burning anticipation of waiting for new sbemails. Fortunately, that is all done with.
