I reckon the distinction was made for those few characters whose appeared in MLS was as [[:File:marshmallowcrowd.PNG|unnamed, nonspeaking crowd-fillers]] before getting names in a later cartoon. Since the exact creation and release dates of the ''super''-early stuff circa the year 2000 aren't particularly clear (see the confusion caused by the phrasing of [[Marshmallow's Last Stand|"the first cartoon we ever made"]], [[Old Flash Stuff|"the first appearance of Marzipan"]], [[The King of Town DVD Old Version|"the first cartoon that we ever put on the Homestar website"]] {{--}} heck, [[User:Gfdgsgxgzgdrc|gfd]] put together [[Talk:Marshmallow's Last Stand#The First Toon? |a reasonably compelling argument that "TKOT" predates "MLS"]]), I'm not particularly sure how helpful or accurate the differentiation is.
