Regarding these two edits: From what I've researched it seems Mimmy is the westernized spelling. But more importantly, Mimyi's bow is yellow. That said, KOT's dress doesn't look like the usual Hello Kitty dress. It looks more like the bunny character's dress in this picture on wikipedia (second from the left, right after pilot Hello Kitty). Also, that character's bow is on the same side as Hello Kitty's. - It all seems reachy to me. It seems pretty evident that TBC just intended him to look like Hello Kitty.
