Homestar Runner Wiki sysops have the ability to protect pages or images such that they cannot be modified except by other sysops. This ability is only to be used in certain circumstances.

[edit] Reasons for protection

Reasons for protecting pages include (but are not limited to):

  • Protecting high visibility pages such as the Main Page from vandalism.
  • Protecting certain pages or images closely related to the Main Page.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the site's logos.
  • Protecting the often-used texts in the MediaWiki namespace.

[edit] Templates

For temporary protections, one of two templates should be used: {{mprotected}} for images currently being displayed on the main page, and {{vprotected}} in cases of repeated vandalism.
