Big Knives are one of the oldest recurring items in the Homestar Runner universe. This inside joke's first appearance was in the Theme Song Video, but was first featured by name in the Painting of a guy with a big knife, drawn by Strong Bad in the email i love you. Since then, big knives have appeared in numerous toons and emails — Strong Bad seems to have an unexplained affinity for them.

Big Knife Sightings
"Big Knives" are almost always large knives with serrated edges.
Toons
- Theme Song Video — Strong Bad throws a big knife at Strong Sad while he is strapped to a spinning wheel.
- Everybody to the Limit — Strong Bad pops out of the Visor Robot with knife in hand.
- Teen Girl Squad Issue 9 — The Ugly One carves "BFF" into a tree with a big knife.

- i love you — Strong Bad's weapon of choice makes its email premiere in his Painting of a guy with a big knife.
- band names — One of the band names Strong Bad suggests is "Bigg Nife."
- CGNU — One of the requirements to get into Crazy Go Nuts University is to draw a picture of the aforementioned Guy with a big knife.
