The Cheat's head seems to have trouble exploding. Maybe he gets too excited, or worried, or who knows what. His face turns black and his hair is pushed back when it happens. Poor little guy. Incidentally, the cheat's 1936 counterpart, The Sneak, also has his head explode in the "Ballad of the Sneak" video.
