Another one I liked was Strong Bad dressing up as Jambi the Genie.

My favorite was SLOP! MESS! QUIZ! from the buried email.

That and Arnie from last Halloween.

Super Kingio Brothers was probably the funniest, but other than that, I love the Clockwork Orange reference (JORB WELL DONE, :coachz: strapped to the chair).

And if it was intentional, the Pink Floyd The Wall reference at the end of Rock Opera.

I love all the video game references, especially the ones Strong Bad mutters when he is awoken on the couch.

Same here. I never even thought anyone had heard of Lost Vikings. It was quite obscure, right?

1) Homestar's Kurt Cobain costume (Kurt Cobain not being obscure, but the costume itself was exactly what Cobain wore when he was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, down to the "Corporate rock magazines still suck" t-shirt)
2) Strong Bad's tour guide role on the safariquest adventure or whatever in "theme park." It was so spot on from those rides at Disney World. Had me cracking up.
3) All of "english paper." It is frighteningly accurate in its depiction of how high-school (and college) kids write.

Don't know if this was intentional or not, but Strong Bad typing Ebil in the sbemail Hands or fingers or something like that. Anyone who has every visited the Adventure Quest universe knows what I mean.

My favorite obscure references are the ones to the single highest selling video game franchise in history.

Or, more seriously, probably two that have been mentioned: Homestar's Strongest Man in the World costume, or Homestar "singing" Back in Black on Marzipan's answering machine.

My favourite references tend to be the more academic ones: for example, Hamlet in "bedtime story" ("Sleep tight, sweet prince!") and the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution in Marzipan's Answering Machine 13 ("So I'll need to come over there soon and unreasonably search and seize this tape from you"). Not sure those are all that obscure, but they're out of the usual realm of pop culture, and so I'm going to put them down here.

I got a new one! Strong Bad sings the music to 2001: A Space Oddessy in his Cave Girl Squad in Strong Badia the Free.

I just remembered one of my favorites. It's definitely the e.email cummings comment when "L. Eftformat" sends an email. I was proud of myself for recognizing a literature-related reference, since I'm not much of a reader.

My favourite reference would have to be that one scene in "That A Ghost".

OLD-TIMEY MARZIPAN: We should split up!
THE HOMESTAR RUNNER: We can do more damage that way.

Anything that refers to Ghostbusters is beyond awesome, because Ghostbusters itself is beyond awesome.

This is probably not really that obscure, but I love Homestar's keyboard shirt... just like Michael Jackson's from the video for "Beat It."

Hmm... my sister's a huge Michael Jackson fan. Maybe I can get her hooked on Homestar that way!

Also, I appreciated Strong Bad's Jambi the Genie costume, since I watched a ton of Pee-Wee's Playhouse in my youth. And Homsar as the Noony-Noony-Noo typewriter made me smile too, since I loved Sesame Street too.
