Big toons

Do you think they will do any big toons for 2008? Believe it or not, there was a year (2003) when there were no big toons at all.

They probably will. And 2003 had plenty of other awesome things to make up for no big toons.

That's not the point. The reason I was asking was so I could keep track of the toons so that there would be some to put into the next Everything Else DVD (Volume 4). All the 2003 toons were spread out on the first two EE DVDs.

What I'd like to see is more of the "Made By The Cheat" stuff. New Boots was 2004.

Not at all, but it was a music video rather than a proper toon. Same with Experimental Film, great fun and all, but just not the same as a proper toon.

Well, before the music video starts, we're treated to a quick scene with Coach Z (voiced by in PBTC style by Mike Chapman) and Peacey P. So technically, there is a piece of toon in there.

I can see a couple big toons being released this year. However, I hope that they are not comprised of "Short Shorts" and are instead a good ol' large and unique creation.

It would also be neat if a new type of cartoon was released that could be considered a "big toon", but has its own style driving it forward.

I think there will be two this year, just a feeling. For 2003, that may have just been a slow year, and it was one time. I doubt that will happen again for a while.

Also, 'New Boots' was a music video, wasn't it?

If they were "short shorts", they would probably be put in the "Shorts" section.

Hey, I've got an idea for a big toon: a parody of Wacky Races. Car #1 has Homestar (and maybe Pom Pom and/or Marzipan); car #2 has Strong Bad and his posse, etc. What about that idea? Oh, and the racing commentator/narrator would be that British-accented announcer guy they show on occasion.

Just cause there were no Big Toons in 03 doesn't mean that there will be no Big Toons in 08.

Well, it looks like it's shaping to be exactly that, no Big Toons this year. I'm guessing a whole variety of things have made that so. Also, the fact that so far there has not been anything in the way of anything at all this month.

I tend to think there will not be a big toon. Perhaps another short, a handful of sbemails, and a Halloween and Decemberween toon. But no big toon.

But I imagine 2009 will be a rebound year, probably a high point for the site. Just a guess.

Well, here's hoping. But there weren't even any Decemberween toons during 2003, so who knows? Of course, other things conspired conspired to keep that from occurring (that specific year, anyway), but still...

I agree with CaptainPastHisPrime - SBCG4AP is not a toon or game on the site, and it's not free, so I don't think it should be included into the canon, if you will.

It may be a high point for the business (if that's what you mean by "Homestar as a whole"), but not for the quality of the cartoons, which is all that really matters to me. In fact, I think (and this is pure speculation, and not based on any evidence, facts, or logic) that the attention and effort paid to SBCG4AP by TBC has significantly deteriorated the quality of the toons on the site. Now I have to pay $35 dollars or whatever to get the good material? Not a high point in my eyes.

To me, a big toon should be more than 4 minutes, and The Next Epi-snowed shoulda been listed as one, but it was placed in the shorts section instead. Same thing goes with Commandos in the Classroom. Seems odd, doesn't it?

To a lesser degree, they should've also put Limozeen vs. Sloshy in the Big Toons section as well, since it was roughly 6:00 total.

Well, as my concept for the new EE4 DVD continues to get updated, I will include LvS and Epi-Snowed in the Big Toons section where they really belong.

Yes, I do, but I don't think movies and theme park attractions should really be compared and contrasted too much.
