There have been several text adventures made by people on the fanstuff but I can't figure out where to even start. This is bothering me very much... Please tell me, how do I do it?

Thanks in advance.

First off, the text adventures on the Fanstuff Wiki are not REAL text adventures, they are very poor imitations of the real thing.

Second, try TADS. A very good way to make text adventure games.

Third, if you need an idea of what text adventure games are like or some inspiration, try the Zork series.

That should help.

look for adventure builder--although i found it hard to use, someone who understands programming a little better or at least is smarter than me might be able to use it--it seems to be efficient. I forget where to find it--but do searches for text adventures, interactive fiction (iF) or even adventure builder. You should be able to find several options.

i think i might add, "do you, A: drink ???, B: leave it alone, C: hokey pokey?", is not a text adventure.

Okay, I'll give these a go. Thanks.

I haven't been on this board for a long time, so sorry for not responding for so long.

thanks Mr. Spork, I was planning on making a dungeonman or other text adventure, this was really helpful

Edit: I tried those fanstuff games... yuck. most of them weren't even finished.

I haven't made a text adventure since my Commodore 64 days, and I never finished my masterpiece, "Wizards". It still needs debugging, 20 years later.

The program ADRIFT is great for text adventures like Thy Dungeonman. Even the free version is extremely powerful, but the full version pretty much wins as the best TA maker on the web.

You could also try QDK. There's a lite version for free, so you could try it before sopending money on the full version.
It worked for me.
Edit: Oh, oops. Post dates. Should have checked them. Sorry, guys!
