WRONG! Just because it's an "open relationship" doesn't mean that they aren't a couple. i.e. "Girlfriend" and "Boyfriend" labels still apply. Not to mention that Homestar doesn't exactly agree with Marzipan's sentiment.

Not to mention my original statement of the only canon couple being Homestar/Marzipan still applies even if they do break up for good. They were, indeed, the only canon couple. Of the main cast, of course.

Agree'd. Seriously, Coach Z is one of the creepiest characters on the site, so he's BOUND to do crazy yet creepy things, like have a skinny little pink thong, buy all the "Great for Baby" items, saying he's a mom, and other things.

Besides, this is supposed to be a funny site. Coach Z happens to be the poster boy for creepiness here.

I think Marshie/Mr. Shmallow and maybe Senor Cartgage out-do him a bit there. I know you said one of the creepiest though.

Anyway, I doubt TBC have even considered such a thing. And Coach Z makes inappropriate comments to Marzipan while he's drunk as well.

I don't really think Homestar Runner is meant to be looked into this deeply, at all. But still, pretty funny suggestion. You never know. =P

I literally burst out laughing when I found this thread. Finally! Someone has the guts to ask what we've all been wondering.

The humor of H*R is mostly based on suggestion (suggestion, in this case, meaning subtly and implication). Most people agree that although the site is safe for kids, there is a lot of stuff put in the site that was meant to fly over the kiddies' heads.

Do Coach Z and Bubs have an off and on homosexual relationship? Although it will never be stated explicitly on the site, it would not surprise me if the little jokes thrown in the various toons by TBC were meant to suggest it.

The answer to the thread's question: yes; if you want them to be, no; if you don't. It's that simple, really, and in any case, it's no big deal. Welcome to the internetz.

That could be a logical theory; it was shown quite clearly in "garage sale" that Coach Z has a mother complex. But I prefer to think that was just a gag for the sake of being hilarious *shrug*
I mean I'm not ruling out the mother complex thing: he could even be mildly schizophrenic and consider himself the be Bubs' wife from time to time, who knows. Or maybe he was completely drunk off Listerine. But he's wierd all the time, i.e. cooking hot dogs with a shower, buying "great for baby items" and almost getting "janked" be strong sad.
He could be gay, but the messages he leaves on marzipan's answering machine contradict that theory.

Here's why:
1. Coach Z wants to go out with Marzipan.
2. Bubs thinks Coach Z is really weird and annoying.

I really don't think they are. I love Homestar Runner, but you guys are playing a little too much into this.

At the end of Date Nite, it DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY ARE GAY. It was supposed to be FUNNY.

Plus, I think that what happened is the result of Bubs letting Coach Z hang around him too much.

While I personally don't believe that in any way (they sorta just remind me of two old, retired guys with nothin to do but sit around and talk all the time) I don't think TBC would bring in any issues that have strong disagreements among their viewers
