I was pretty proud of myself for recognising more than zero of the costumes this year. :)
The toon made me smile, but not laugh out loud.

Do you guys think the toon would have been much better if it wasn't so anticlimactic? That is, instead of doing the 5-second night, what if they added 1 more minute to the toon with a montage showing everyone happily going about their Halloween antics? I probably would have without thinking given the toon better marks if it ended that way. Just something to think about, how something like that could make or break a toon. :ehsteve:

I don't know how you can say that. Strong Sad's whole "smiling disease" was obtuse and uninspired... like the rest of this toon. I agree Bazooka Joe, I felt bored during the entire thing. It's better to watch their past Halloween adventures this year.

I have to admit that I was very, very sad that there was no reference this year to Homestar's beloved "Witches Breeew"... :( I so look forward to that every year...

This is why Strong Sad is my favorite character.

Besides The Cheat.

But seriously, he was the best in this one. x3

I just about crapped myself when I saw Strong Mad as The Maxx.

The Maxx is one of my favorite things ever, and when I saw that costume, I was nearly bouncing off the walls.

I couldn't believe that no one ever thought of Strong Mad as The Maxx sooner.

However, I gotta say the rest of the toon aside from Homestar's charasmatic stupidity and Strong Mad's costume dissapointed me on the whole.

I really didn't like the premise of "It's Halloween but it's not". Without the darkness, and the typical Halooween fun, I thought the toon fell on it's face and just wasn't good at all.

But hey.. The Maxx was a costume, so it was ok. :P (Can you tell that I love that comic?)

I loved Bubs as Coach McGuirk! Home Movies is awesome, so I was really happy to see that.

Actually, that was one of my favorite bits of the entire 'toon. Who knows, huh? :P Well, besides the "spooky" woods. XD

I hope they add the names of the costumes and the real world references soon. A lot is missing on the wiki page.

First of all, the costumes are all listed on a separate page. Second, if you see that something is missing, add it in yourself! That's the point of a wiki. Remember, there is no "they". "They" is "we", and we are they.. and we are all together.

You know what, though? It is kinda hard to find that "Costumes" link at the top of the page. And if someone was looking for the costume references, more than likely they're going to scroll down to "Real World References" immediately.

I'm gonna go ahead and add a duplicate link in the "Real World References" section.

I bolded the Costumes link near the top of the Halloween toon pages to make it more noticeable for everybody. Before, it was tucked away into all of that bold breakdown information and I barely noticed it myself. Does it help a lot more? I did revert the Costumes link on Real-World References on the premise that I would bold the link at the top, but do you all think it would still be helpful for it to be in RWR for people who are searching for it? I think so too, so I'll look into it with the wikians.

Try hitting Enter once you have the yellow box. Or, make certain that you are holding the cursor still and are not moving the mouse around while clicking. Or, bookmark a seek bar to make your hr.com viewing much more efficient. Simply go here, and right-click on the button that will work for your browser ("seek bar" (for Firefox) or "seek bar for IE"), then select "Bookmark This Link", then once it is bookmarked, go to the toon and click on the link in your bookmarks.

When i saw this toon for the first time, i thought homestar was dressed up as some kinda sasquatch-ish sportsman! *tries not to laugh*

:homsar: "Eggs tree! Eggs tree! This get-up IS my get-down!"
Best! Homsar quote! Ever!

I sort of thought the same thing, but when I saw his name at the end, it all made sense. I was like, "OH! Teen Wolf! Right! Duh!"

To be honest, I didn't think it was very funny. Or particularly good. I don't know, after the Potion-ma-jig, I guess I was expecting something fun and awesome like that, and the Halloween Day idea just seems rushed and lame.

The only costume I recognised was Marzi's, too. But she looked good as Frieda Kahlo!

I recognized the witch's mask on StrongBad as the mask Lucy wore in "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." (which I loved as a kid)

I recognized Strongbad's costume he wore later was Father Guido Sarducci. I loved him when he was on SNL (in the 7Os)

I recognized the Cheat's costume as Gizmo.

I recognized Pom Pom's costume as that "guy" from Iron Chef.

And I recognized the KOT as the Gorton's Fisherman.

That was all I recognized.

As for the "toon" itself. I found it really disappointing. It wasn't that funny and lacked the fun that was in Halloween cartoons of the past. I was hoping for another "interactive" cartoon like "The House that Gave Sucky Treats" or "Halloween Potionmajig."

I do remember that "Halloween Potionmajig" didn't actually come out until November 1st (although it claimed it was still Oct 31st in some parts when it came out)

I figure they had a real bear with all those interactive "layers" and decided not to bother this year. I wish they had tried. I wouldn't have minded if it was late, as long as it was good.

Strong Sad killed me in this one. Somebody shoot me! His facial expressions were priceless.

I really enjoyed the toon. It was not at all what I was expecting. I laughed out loud more than a few times, mostly at Strong Sad, and at the end where Strong Bad shushes Coach Z. I also laughed when I found out what Coach Z's costume was. Homestar whistling cracked me up too.

Anyone else notice that in the last email (coloring) and this halloween toon that Marzipan and Strong Bad have carried on cordial conversations?.... Marzipan didn't seem put out at all for SB trying to scare her in the toon, and shared a laugh with SB at Homestar's expense in Coloring.

If you ask me, that's what spooky about this halloween.

Creeeeepy... you're right! But you know, I think maybe Marzi's just learning to tolerate him, and SB's gotten just a leetle bit nice.

You're probably right CT. It's not like Marzy's going to dump Homestar for Strong Bad any time soon.

Hmmm... mixed feeling's one this year's Halloween extravaganza... The costumes were a bit of alrigh, and there were some good jokes, but the story just seemed kind of, wack? (Wack? Yeah let's go with wack.) It had a lot to live up to though, as Halloween Potion-Ma-Jig is pretty darn hard to top. I gotta give props to the Brother Chaps though. I mean, there's so much pressure on them every year to create another remarkable toon that virtually outdoes the preceeding one and they still got something up their sleeves. This year's wasn't GREAT, but it had its moments.

And consider this: All of the Halloween toons centralize around some sort of Halloween event held in free country USA. TBC have aready doen trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, spooky Halloween story party, living dead summonings, potion creating, and Halloween fair...ing. What else is there to do? Not much. So I congratulate the two chaps on being able to cook up another original story. I loved Strong Sad's behaviour after too much light, Homestar's Halloween night-catching trap was genious, and his explanation was killah. Bubs also showed up with some more get-righ-quick schemes, which hit a home run in my heart.

Now I don't know about you guys, but I loved the costumes this year! I recognized Coach Z, Pom Pom, The Cheat, Bubs, and Homestar right off the bat. I recognized Marzipan too, but I had to take some time to think about that one. I knew The Cheat was going to be a Gremlin one year, I just knew it! And Bubs made an awesome Coach McGuirk, hands down. Pomp Pom's get-up also gave me a good chuckle, as I've been watching Iron Chef America quite frequently now. Anyways, to sum it up: Alright, but definitely not the best.

Beaums out!

4/10, it wasn't very good, without the Halloween antics, it's just not Halloween, I recognized Homestar, Strong Bad(But only from Casper), The Cheat, Bubs, Coach Z, Pom-Pom, and KoT(At first, I thought he was Long John Silver), And I don't usually recognize a lot of things. That's 7/12, NEW RECORD!!! All and all, the costumes were good, but the only scene I liked was That Goblin scene

:sb: :How are we gonna find him?

:cheat: :{Plays Goblin Theme Song}

COMMENCE GOBLIN SHAKE-DOWN!!!

I liked this part too...

:sb:: Aw man, I thought sure we'd find Halloween Night in the spooky woods! This place has really gone uphill since it disappeared. Even that rotten old skull doesn't seem so creepy.

The Skull: {Rainbow afro comes out of head} A-jam on it!

Heh heh...

The only character costume I recognized in this 'toon was The Cheat as Gizmo. Everyone else was a swamp of unfamiliarty - The Poopsmith as Necron 99 (never seen and is probably gone), Homestar as Teen Wolf (never seen), Graw Mad as The Maxx (never seen or read; also, MTV?): heck, I couldn't recognize the KoT's costume (The Gorton's Fisherman, mascot of some super-ultra-obscure seafood company)... and the sad thing is, I usually can. The cartoon was okay, though it didn't live up to Potion-ma-Jigg, IMO the finest halloween Toon yet.

(Oh, and I hate to make accusations, but it looks like that for Bubs' costume [Coach McGuirk of Home Movies fame], TBC got lazy and pulled a quick Photoshop. Also, they made Coach Z dress in drag WHY?)

The reference to M.I.A. on the toon listing is AWESOME and makes TBC about 18x more awesome. I love M.I.A.
