I mean communism not an example of one.
So basically what true communism is supposed to be.

Yeah the Marx stuff.I am asking which idea and thought not for a basis of example.
True Communism isn't what Mao preached.
True Democracy isn't what Bush splurs in Iraq.

What? Too may long words for you?

No, you double posted. It's annoying when people do that (and against the rules).

:sigh:
Doubleposting is when you post the same message twice ina row. What I did was reply to two different people in two different (albiet sequential) posts. You got a problem with this? Write your congressman.

No, double posting is when you make two posts in a row. Got a problem with it? Take it up with management.

True democracy, as when everyone votes on everything, can only work in small communities, such as villages, towns, & Swiss cantons.

I believe a republican form of government is most effective as long as the people pick sound, knowledgeable representatives who can truly serve the region they represent. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. ;) Still, I think it's the most effective system for governing a full country.

The technical tern there is Direct Democracy. It's 'direct' becasue there are no electect representives. Just chairman to maintain order and a tresurer to balance the bokks and a secretary to keep minutes (or variations on that model). You see it all the time in small meetings like boardrooms and the like. Direct Democracy could be applied to a large country like Canada or the US, but it's more of a logitical/technological challange to be albe to actualy do it without massive problems in the execution of such a scheme. Never mind the issue of geting politicians to vote themselves out of a job forever (good luck geting that to happen), first you gotta come up with an actual plan to implement the voting and the organizational structures nessisary. One solution would be electronic voting via the internet, but it's just not secure enough... not by a long shot.

That whole logistical/structural problem is why we have a republican form of government in the first place.

OK. Then my favorite is a super happy government where everything is perfect.

Right, it's impossible, but true communism is, too, so if we're voting solely on ideas, a perfect government in a perfect society with perfect people would be the best.

What I'm trying to say is, voting on ideas is useless if theyr'e impossible to achieve. We'd all love perfect communism, but it's not possible. It's like voting on "Would you rather have eternal happiness or occasional happiness" (And yes, I know that's a bad example due to the "You need to have negative to know positive" theory, but you know what I mean)

Hey, man--I think we all have a right to interpret the ideas posted and to discuss our interpretation of these ideas. Otherwise, it wouldn't be much of a discussion, now would it? I think we can all agree on what has already pretty much been established--that there is a significant difference between theory and practice when it comes to governments and economic systems.

Sorry ;) I agree-its as the ol' saying goes:
Inferno in theory, Frozen ice in practice.
