So that's why I laughed so hard at the "Message for Christians" thread from a week or two back. I can't actively remember anything from religious studies (except for the Sioux "Trickster Tales"), but I'll hear religion-related things from time to time that, for whatever reason, just don't sound right to me. :-D

The word "Allah" is very closely related to the Hebrew "Elohim." Nevertheless, Muslims do not acknowledge the Holy Trinity, and therefore do not worship the same God as Christians. The same is true of any religion that does not acknowledge the Holy Trinity.

It seems to me that this Amendment restricts Congress from establishing religion, but also from restricting religion. However, it does not give Congress the right to determine how the states dictate the relationship between church and state. IN other words, while this Amendment prohibits the US Congress from establishing religious practice within government, it does not (and cannot) prohibit the state of Texas from doing so.

Well, they worship the same God as Christians do in the same sense that Christian worship the same God as Jews do... Jews obviously don't recognize the Trinity, but it's the "same" God in that sense.

But in failing to acknowledge the Holy Trinity, then are they not denying God as he truly is? After all, Jesus did say, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes unto the Father except by me." So while these groups may claim to worship the God of Abraham, they are attempting doing so in a way that excludes the Son.

It's a valid argument, but I think it's a separate and distinct argument. When people say "they're the same god", they mean it in a broad sense, after all. The two or three "gods" in question are much more similar to each other than the gods a satanist or a polytheist might believe in, right?

Actually, I think Satanists don't believe in God, Heaven, Hell, or anything like that...I think they're more just an Atheistic Emo Hedonist movement with the name created solely for shock purposes.

That is both bizarre and worrying. Atheism certainly has a serious PR problem.
