I think this would probably go in the Toons section... I'm not sure where else to put it...

It's my first new topic! I'm so excited! :)

Anyway, now for the post: What are your thoughts on Marzipan's Answering Machine? and/or What are some of your favorite Marzipan's Answering Machine moments?

I think that Marzipan's Answering Machine is one of the most forgotten (if not the most forgotten) aspects of H*R. Most people don't even know it exists. I admit I wasn't too interested at first, either, because there wasn't actual animation of the characters, it was just the voices. But I listened to a few, and there are actually some great moments and quotes on it.

My favorite is Number 4. Homestar Runner tries (unsuccessfully) to describe a "TV Joke," and Strong Bad and the King of Town imitate each other... "Um... okay, I have to go eat a bunch of crap, because I'm the King of Town!" Then Strong Mad fails his attempt to leave a prank call... "IS YOUR REFRIDGERATOR RUNNING?" "Man, I told you that one doesn't work!!"

And there's always the one where Strong Bad told Marzipan that they shot Homestar because he was being so stupid, and they had to keep him from being more stupid.

And I also love every time Strong Sad leaves a message. "Hi, Marzipan, my caller ID says that you called, but I missed it because I was lying in the dark... so I'm gonna sit here until you call back." And later: "Sorry, I realized that the caller ID was from when I called myself yesterday from your house to remind myself to check my caller ID." Or when he's telling her about the DVD. "Widescreen mode... running time... it sounds pretty deluxe."

Okay, I could leave a ton more quotes, but I'm gonna leave it up to everybody else now. What are your favorite Marzipan's Answering Machine Moments?

My favorite is definatly #3. It's hilarious because Bubs and Coach Z "ask her out" without actually asking her. And Strong Mad says," Marry Meee... Marry MEEE!!!! MARRY MEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

Ahhh.... I love that one...

Halloweener Answering Machine is my favourite. From Marzi's attempt to be scary, to Homestar's rendition of "Back in Black". Who could forget Strong Sad's quote "I'm going to see if any dead people will be my friend", or Homsar, just recording his Homsar-noise over and over?
Funny stuff.

I second homestar doing his rendition of AC/DC's "Back in Black" especially when he goes 'ding dong ding dong...' :)

I think my favorite one is the one where an obviously inebriated coach Z calls Marzipan: "I'm a poet".... "Call People" drunks are hillarious"

Which one has Homestar doing Back in Black? I can't find it... I listened to all of them, I think

It appears you were asking me to go to whichway and pick up some hefty bags.
I love how he says Hefty bags.

Then his rendition of everyone. Hewwo. This is youw boyfwiend Homestaw Wunnew. You'we the gweatest giwlfwiend evew. Lets have a mawwige. Lets have a mawwige slicence. (It sounds like he says Slicence.)

My absolute favorite Answering Machine is when the KoT tries three times to ask Marzipan to a banquet but he keeps getting distracted by food.

"Oh! My lifetime supply of PUDDING is here! I'm never calling you back! MO MEH ME OH MOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"

Don't remember which number it is, though.

Angry Homestar is the best.
:hr: :That is GAWBAGE, sister. Having to put up with you is like having to put up with GAWBAGE! I don't know where you get off, but it's not at the Homestar Station anymore!

I also like the McEnroe clip for the same reason.
:hr: :Sewiouwously! You can't be sewious!

my favorite is from #8 (right?), when Homestar does the radio promo. "You're listening to the Cornbread Hour, on WPKG, the voice of Pawkeegan State!"

Number 9 is my favourite. Homestar's imitation tape had me rolling.

The imitation Homestar tape is by far the funniest thing ever put in the answering machines, especially when we get to hear Homestar's terrible imitation of... Homestar.

I love Marzipan's Answering Machine, and I agree it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. A lot of people don't listen to it because they think that since Marzipan's name is in the title, it centers around her, similar to Strong Bad and his Emails. I know that's how I thought back when I first started to frequent the site. I'm very glad I gave Marzipan's Answering Machine a chance because, now, it's one of my favorite parts of the whole site.

My favorite Answering Machine is probably #5. That intoxicated Coach Z message with Bubs talking/singing in the background had me in stitches. It's also got one of my favorite Strong Bad prank calls and a message with Homsar *gasp* making sense!

My second favorite would have to be either #9 or #7. Homestar's fake messages were great in #9 and all the messages (not to mention that little Homestar easter egg) in #7 were thoroughly entertaining.

I would be one of those people. Maybe i'll take your suggestion and just lower the volume when she talks..after all I have heard lots of hilarious things being talked about from the machine!

Man, you can't stand to listen to :marzi: Marzipan for a few minutes? Jeez, you really hate her.

So on Answering Machine version 8.0, what's the deal with The Cheat walking out from behind the answering machine table during Homestar's message to Sweepstakes Ron? It might have something to do with the fact that on 9, Marzipan has an all new answering machine. I might have missed something, but maybe not. Anyone have any speculations?

I think it has nothing to do with the new machine. I think The Cheat was just stealing something else, probably by command of Strong Bad.

He maybe stole it for Strong Bad to sell it in "garage sale." Or what?
Did I miss anything?

Yeah. That answering machine SB was selling was Marzipan's new one.

One of the best ones was when Strong Bad tries to teach Homestar how to make a prank call, I think it the tenth one or something, I dont feel like checking. Another good one is the new on there, "this is all your friends! telling you we hate you!"

THAT WAS HILARIOUS!
