There's a thread in the email section asking what the first email you ever saw was, and I'm curious as to what everyone's first exposure to H*R was. What was the very first thing you saw on the site?

For me, amusingly enough, it was "First Time Here?".

Same thing as the first email I ever saw, kids' book. You'd be surprised how many people's first email is their first exposure ever.

I probably saw several Strong Bad E-mails (around the same period in between Guitar and Techno) before anything else on the site, and I've gone over that already. Other than that, I probably went through several toons at around the same time afterwards - I'm guessing the first non-SBemail thing I saw might have been A Jorb Well Done, or possibly one of the Halloween toons.

Also, at the time I didn't realize that Matt actually did every voice except Marzipan when I first saw credits for the toons - I originally assumed Missy did more than just her one character. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that way.

The first thing I ever saw was the store. :p My sister was looking at the stuff on the store, and she said,"I want that Trogdor hoodie!" I was totally confused of course, seeing all that odd merchandise. She then showed me the SBemail "dragon", and I've been hooked ever since!

I thought this too! I was really surprised when I read about that on the wiki (way later on). I thought Missy did Marzipan, Strong Sad, and Homestar. Maybe the reason I thought she did Homestar was because my sister could do a really good impression of Homestar, so I assumed it was Missy.

Well, the VERY first thing was "The House That Gave Sucky Treats". It was on a link on a website.

(Heh, it was kinda fun maching the costumes to the characters when I went to the "normal" parts!)

Mine was Teen Girl Squad Issue 1. It was hilarious with the whole "Krysten, you look burnt, or DEAD." But this made me think that Homestar Runner was a little violent, like Bonus Stage, but I later learned that it's not.

First thing I ever saw was the fluffy puff commercial where homestar messes up his lines.

My brother found this link on a board somewhere so we checked it out. First thing we did was characters. I'm pretty sure the first 'anything' I saw was Bubs' characters video. It was funny, but I wasn't hooked until much later, when my friend showed me "sibbie" and "anything."

The first H*R thing I ever saw was a guy at school wearing a Stinko Man shirt sometime during the '03-'04 school year. I was like, "What was that?!?", then months later I see Stinko Man and I'm like, "That's the guy from the shirt!"

Wow, did you think that was the style for the website at the time? I wouldn't be hooked seeing a PBTC cartoon first.

I didn't really get hooked seeing the fluffy puff comercial first. It was funny, but kinda plain. I watched that a lot and then after that I saw the "first time here", which is just as plain. When I finally saw Homestar's legs, in "lookin' at a thing in a bag", it was the weirdest thing ever (I thought he was on stilts).

First thing ever ever: Japanese Cartoon
First full toon: Parsnips a Plenty
First short: 20X6 vs 1936
First thing that doesn't involve 1936 or 20X6: Caper

My cousin showed me Fluffy Puff commertial about three or four years ago at the parade that goes by my house (that's how I remember things), and I laughed at it then didn't think about it for a long time. About five months later, an obsession was born. It's funny; I don't think he goes to H*R anymore....

My first anything was the chewy chewy scroll buttons song. I was in study hall and I heard it and just had to look and see what it was. Then my teacher was like, "Ugh, that voice."

My friend at school was talking to me about the Strong Bad Emails. Finally while at her house, she took me to the website. I didn't know that it was a cartoon, and I was expecting it to be like K'Plett or Pelgar from StarTrek.com and there would be a picture of an over-weight middle-aged guy with a mask on doing a wrestling pose. Then she showed me the site and I was very impressed.

How lame am I! The first thing I saw was "First Time Here," after my friend sent me a link to the site. After that, I watched "A Jorb Well Done." Didn't watch sbemails for a few days after I went to the site.

Exactly the same as me, actually. The FTH said to watch Jorb Well Done, so I did! Actually thought it was kinda dumb and wasn't huge on the site for a bit, though I absolutely loved Meet Marshie.

The first toon I saw was Jorb, too. But my very first exposure was indeed a Stongbad email, namely techno, followed by new hands and island, which were all among the newer ones at the time.

I think the first thing I ever saw was Japenese Cartoon. I'm not positive though. It took like 6 months though to get hooked.

Oh yeah, I decided early on to watch all the emails, too. One of these days I'm going to go through them all again, just in case I missed anything. That should be one of TEF's holidays, go-through-the-entire-hr-site-and-watch-every-freakin'-thing-just-to-make-sure-you-haven't-miss'd-anything day. at least, I know I will.

What's sad about me is I still haven't gone through the messages. I've been viewin' the site for around three years now and have yet to listen to more than four or five of 'em. Ah well.

Seems a LOT of people saw Jorb Well Done as their first toon. Why is that? The "First Time Here" toon or just picked it randomly?
