My wife has an older iPod Shuffle (500mb) and I can't transfer certain albums from my iTunes library to the Shuffle. It gives me the "can't copy here" sign. Other songs and albums transfer just fine. There's 200mb free on the Shuffle... makes no sense.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion... I restored it and still can't transfer certain CD's to the shuffle. It's almost like there's some copyright issue or something, but there's no error message or any information beyond the fact that my cursor turns into a "NO YOU CAN'T" icon when I try dragging certain songs onto the shuffle.

I did further testing and I can drag these songs onto my video iPod.

Anyone else seen this?

So I figured it out.

My wife had ripped several CDs using .aif format, and apparently you can't stick those files onto that generation of shuffle.

We re-ripped using .m4a format and all is well.

Log that one away.
