It's probably just the forum being slow, I think.

Your avatar was probably too big, animating avatars are usually huge.

1024, so avatars have to be less than 10240.

A kilobyte contains 1204 bytes. Odd, considering a "kilo" usually means 1000.

You know you can just right click -> properties, and see the KB in the image, right? No need to find out how many bytes are in it and try to convert it to KB.

EDIT: Bah, Inverse.

Try uploading from your computer instead of uploading from offsite. Otherwise, I got nothing.

Close. It's 1024, not 1204. The reason it's 1024 is because it's a power of two: 2^10 = 1024. Computers like to work with powers of two because they work in binary, just as we like to work with powers of ten because we think in decimal.

Don't click? Why not? Not much point in posting it if I can't click it.

It's only cause the link is broken and the site doesn't allow direct links

Maybe they don't allow hotlinking, so it's not working for that reason. Download it to your computer (right click, Save Image As) and then do the "Upload from your machine" option in the profile.

Oh, it's a 403. Well, that's why it won't work. if it won't work if I click on it, then it won't work if you put in the forum software, either.

You can do one of two things: upload it somewhere else where it works, then link to it from there, or just upload it to the forum. I recommend the latter option: it should be quick and easy.

1. I do that and it just keeps my old one up
2.It's the same for all animated stuff

Photobucket is much better for picture storage. They even generate [img] tags if you wanna post a pic on a forum. ;)

Make sure you use the Direct Link, not the Quick Link for Email/IM.

What are you saying didn't work? You couldn't upload it to ImageShack, or you successfully uploaded it to ImageShack but now you can't upload it to the forum?

^^Imageshack link. Try putting that in the link to offsite avatar.

Just out of curiosity, what browser are you using?

IE7
And, it's working now!
Also, if I take any animated address and put it in the off site box. Will it work?

An animated GIF is rarely ever seen differently from an ordinary GIF by software... to me, and to most programs and web stuff, a GIF is a GIF is a GIF. In other words, it shouldn't make a difference whether it's animated or not... your problems with the GIF probably didn't stem from the fact that it's animated.
