<You mean stopping the fight now would be fun? Dream bigger mate.
I've done some fighting on a forum before, it does take forever, but is insanely awsome to read.>

Prosper had a bad feeling about the spar that was about to take place. He considered saying something, but decided against it because he wasn't in authority (not to mention that both persons involved were bigger/more powerful than him). So the young rouge sat back and watched with curiosity.

<I really need to make longer posts.>

[No, I meant eventually stopping abruptly.]

Marcus drew his sword and got into a fighting stance. "One...two...um....GO!"

The Lizzard leapt into the air with a snarl. He took a nice big SHING! in the direction of Taryn's arm only to be deflected by a few throwing knives. No matter. Marcus swung his tail flail around in hopes of getting a nice big chunk of...something.

Horin shrieked. "What in blazes is going on here?" He shouted, looking up from the ants he had been inspecting, out of boredom.

"We're inspecting letters and a map." Eruantian pointed out to the inattentive priest "Oh, and I should probably ask you about this." Eruantian handed Horin the previously mentioned Silver Box.
Sarge wrote:
Eruantian opened the small silver case. Inside he found six perfectly white paper tubes, each one filled with a strange brown substance. Eruantian had never seen anything like it before, but he knew that paper of this quality was both rare and expensive. Perhaps Horin could tell him what this brown stuff was. The silver of the case bore the mark of a particular silversmith, and Eruantian recognized it. It was the mark of Jord Ulthanson, a Human silversmith who Eruantian remembered from his time in Targos. Although Eruantian hadn't really known Ulthanson very well, he still didn't think that the silversmith was the kind of person that would willingly do business with an Ogre-Mage. Like most of everything else they'd found with Aclabar, the silver case was probably not originally made for him.

Acedia laughed slightly, just to dispel the awkwardness of the situation, told Maria to follow her and ducked into the tent she'd slept in last night. She'd taken off her little pouch/purse-thing to sleep and had neglected to put it back on again. Acedia drew from the pouch a few lengths of cloth, rolled and folded into a small package, and dusted them off a bit - she hadn't needed to use these since having the wolf-talisman implanted in her back. This magical infusion interrupted her cycle and quite possibly caused her to become infertile. Not that she's, you know, tried to test that theory. Acedia handed the cloth to Maria. "Here you are." Good thing Michael can call water, otherwise the party would have to stay near a river or something until Maria's time was over.

Maria gratefully accepted the package. "You are most kind. I am in your debt."

Meanwhile, Drek had been seriously studying the map."I can't make heads of tales of the other side of it, but the world-map side seems to indicate that the Drow have something going on up in the Northlands. Oddly enough, there's no mention of Squiddy Man Mountain on this map."

Micheal said: "Could be that their mining operation there was so secret that Aclabar didn't write down any of it. Anyways, I think I know what the other side of the map is. If I'm reading this right, it would appear to be trans-dimensional gate network. It seems the Drow have gates all over this world... and perhaps others. Perhaps we could use these gates ourselves... if I can just figure out how they work."

Taryn, apparently, sidestepped and deflected Marcus's sword with her knives. Okay. She took barely a second to see what he was doing next and took to the air, essentially jumping over him and out of harm's way. Before landing, she drew four knives from their sheaths and threw them all simultaneously. The four knives, in midair, combined into a sort of Greek cross shape and spun through the air, whizzing past Marcus - on purpose. These little buggers were Taryn's favorite weapon for exactly this reason.

Acedia smiled. "You're quite welcome. It's nothing, really. Let's go watch Taryn and Marcus fight." She got up and found a safe spot on the edge of the impromptu arena and started spectating.

Maria put the feminine-hygine package in her hip-bag and followed Acedia to watch Marcus and Taryn spar.

Horin grabbed the box and looked it over.
<OOC>Should I describe it, or would I mess up a story thread? </OOC>
He stroked his beard, and glanced over at Taryn and Marcus. "What are they doing?" He asked Eruantian. "Sparring?"

That's a lotta knives, thought Marcus. She's good.

Marcus grabbed Taryn's right arm and took a few good slashings at her torso with his Trusty Sword. Then he jumped up and gave Taryn a swift kick in the face, his footclaws adding a little extra pain and blood. It also gave her a quick view up Marcus's kilt...

[GM's clarification: Did you read the part where I described the contents of the silver box? It's got what are essentially cigaretes inside it. Cigarettes are virtually unknown in Skarae Brae (Which is why Eruantian didn't know what they were). However, Horin might be familiar with tobacco. Depends on his background. Your call on that one.]

<Ah, okay. Maybe he smells the tobacco but doesn't know of cigarettes>
Horin grabbed one of the small tubes out of the box and sniffed it. "Tobacco. Think these might just be tobacco holders." He said, pulling out a pipe and emptying the contents of one of the odd cylinders into it.
He then lit it and offered the pipe to Eruantian. "Care for a smoke?" He asked, blowing a smoke ring past him.

{ oic!Tar: -CASTRATES 8D-

Haha, nah, she wouldn't do that. xD

oic!Tar: Wtf, yes I would. How long have you been my mun?

...alright, i'm talking to myself now, best get IC before I break something... }

Taryn wrenched her arm free from Marcus, resulting in some nasty scratching and possibly a fracture. Her torso didn't appear to suffer immediate damage; the gashes created by Marcus's sword partially fused together again, reducing the tide of blood to mere rivulets. She could still open these gashes again, and it would take a considerable amount of energy to keep them closed, though. The 'swift kick in the face' would've been far more effective if Marcus was able to reach her face - instead the blow landed closer to her collarbone, and that was just because she was still slightly hunched forward from escaping the previous attack. It didn't do much, however. At this point, the knives came back, making an audible whipping noise as they spun through the air. They were aimed for Marcus's unprotected tail - ostensibly to slice it, and thus partially disarm the lizzardboy. Rather than slicing completely through it, however, one of the blades simply became lodged in it, the rest of them breaking free and flying back to Taryn, who put them back in their sheaths. Taryn considered setting the Lizzardman on fire...decided that was a little cruel...and did it anyway, aiming what amounted to your basic fireball square at Marcus's naughtybits. And then immediately running to the other end of the clearing.

"Oh, my. Poor kid," Acedia remarked quietly. "Hope Horin can fix that." She wasn't really directly talking to Maria, just commenting.

[GM's Annoyed Interrogation: You're free to read this thread, but please do not post here, Malky. We have a full roster for this game and we're not accepting new players at this time.
Also, for future reference: Always read the first posting on the first page of ANY game you wish to join: It usually gives you the rules for that game. In this case, you apparently didn't read the rules I have posted up there; You're posting as if you're Taryn's Player Character. Which you're not. So don't write about what Taryn does. That's not your character.
You can read this thread all you want, but further comments from the peanut gallery will get you ejected. Are we clear, Malky?]

"GYAHHHHHHHH!!" Marcus dropped down onto the ground, his tail thrashing around. He curled it to his chest and gently pulled out the knife lodged in his scaly flesh. Only to see the fireball coming right for his lizzardbits.

Marcus panicked. He ran around the clearing like the crazed lunatic he was before unraveling his kilt and putting out the fire. Wool burns with a low flame velocity, so while his bits were put out, his kilt was still a bit scorched. So the Lizzard ran over to a conveniently-placed barrel full of water that belonged to the Captain's regiment and dunked the kilt inside. After a bit of smoke cleared, Marcus took his kilt out, shook it, and wrapped it around his lower torso.

"A little burnt it is, but I'll be alright." Marcus walked, picked up his sword, and walked to the other side of the clearing. "Let's stop that spar, eh, Tar? You don't wanna get me any angrier." The Lizzard gave the spectre a warning flex of his huge arms. He'd had enough fighting for the morning. Now it was time for a real fight.

[OOC: That was quick. Kinda hoped for some big epic distraction. o.O Oh well.]

<Just a pointer, ignore it if you want, but remember to pay close attention to everything your opponent says.>

Prosper breathed a sigh of releif now that the battle was over. He was getting worried that one of the combatents might hurt each other seriously.

Maxwell claped his hands together once, with authority: "Winner, Taryn. Good fighting, both of you. But, we can't sit around here all day. What say we break camp and make for the forest, guys?"

{ Bah, the fight would've degenerated into an OOC argument quickly enough xD }

Taryn rolled her eyes and sighed. "Alright, fair enough. Can I have my knife back, now, though?" Marcus had just kind if inadvertently taken it, after all. Taryn could just call the thing back to her, but knives tend to have little respect for people and things around them, so she figured she'd give the lad a chance to at least let go of it before it possibly cut him again. The cuts on her torso were naught more than scratches now, covered by the mysteriously-mended fabric of her dress that was also now immaculately clean again. Magic? Bad editing? Who knows?!

[GM is amused{Mario-voice}I'm a gonna say.. it's-a Magic!{/Mario-Voice}]

Soon, the camp was struck and our intrepid band of heroes set out for the forest, which was only a few hundred yards away.

Micheal was reading his new spellbook while he walked, but somehow he was managing not to fall... behind despite his eyes being more focused on the book than where he was walking. Captain Sealem, Maxwell, Maria and Farnham headed up the main group while Marcus and Drek scouted ahead.

Soon, after a short and uneventful march, They arrived at the edge of the forest.

Maxwell said: "Alright, now we just have to get Thurendel's attention."

There was a awkward pause....

Farnham looked at his brother. His brother looked at him.

Micheal said, in a droll voice: "You two have no idea how to contact Thurendel, do you?"

Maxwell shook his head: "I uh.. that is... no. Sorry, I didn't really think that far ahead."

Micheal closed his book. "Lucky for you two I thought ahead on this one. Before we left the Pixies' place, I asked Thurendel how we go about contacting him if we were ever this way again. He said we wouldn't have to: He'd contact us. Apparently, anyone he treewalks sort of becomes part of him..... um... he didn't really explain how that works, but it doesn't matter, I suppose. The important part is that if we go back into the forest he should notice that we've returned."

Maxwell said: "You could have said so before."

Micheal shrugged and said: "I'm saying so now. I figured you might have had something else in mind."

Farnham said: "Ok, whatever... let's just get a move on."

With that, the party proceeded into the forest once again.

It's interesting how high chi can be in trees, most trees in this forest have over twice the chi most people would have and some could match an intermediate to chi like me.

"Yeah, it was very interesting being part of the trees, magic never stops to amuse me" Andrew said.

Maxwell said: "Tell me about it. Y'know, before I set out on this quest, I think I'd seen maybe two feats of actual magic in my whole life."

Farnham said: "Yeah, once in a blue moon a wizzard of some sort would come into the shop come, but most of them didn't do any magic while they were there. This one time, a man came in and asked to see our diamonds. When I offered him a magnifying glass so he could examine them more closely, he waved it off, snaped his fingers and said: "Alakazam." "Poof" this blue-skinned guy appears out of nowhere and points at the diamond case... and it made the diamonds seem larger! I couldn't believe it. Scared the bejesus out of me at first, but then I realized he was some sort of Wizzard. Well, long story short, he bought our entire stock of diamonds, and a gold-tipped cane, too. Said he needed them for a special project... something about making a carpet... I don't remember the details."

<OOC> If this is a pagan culture, then why would Farnham use a swear from Christendom? Farnham would much more likely have mentioned his own gods such as Torm, Helm, or Ilmater. Take the Chronicles of Narnia for example; Narnians can often be heard saying things like "by the lion's mane" referring to the great lion, Aslan. </OOC>
