I am proposing an idea for a new forum Holiday. It's called Translate Your Name Day, it where you take your forum name and translate it into a different language. You can translate your name into any language you want. I want this Holiday to be on Monday, Labor Day(US). Anybody willing to participate?

One rule though, keep your avatar and signatures the same, so we know who everybody is.

Is anybody else sick of forum holidays?

Anyway, a good portion of users wouldn't be able to participate since their names can't be easily translated.

Yeah they can. Just use a good internet translation site. Just remember to put space in between if you don't have them.

I think he means usernames that aren't real words. It's kind of hard to translate a made up word into a different language.

Didymus
iKipapa
Acekirby
Shopiom
ed 'lim' smilde
Puphles
fahooglewitz1077
DanBo
Cmarbagoi
kellan6
Smorky

No amount of adding spaces is going to make those names translatable.

I wouldn't really need to translate my name if Engrish can be considered a different language

Lock this thing, if all of the users can't participate then it is not worth doing.

I agree some name cannot be translated, but like Funkstar suggested, use there real names. BTW I have translated some of those. Acekirby goes through, Didymus is already translated. The others are just going to find the translations for there real life names, which there are no shortage of place to find those.

Brotvieren! :P Seperate it into simpler words (like i did "bread rectangle) and it might work better.

Mine in Dutch is "DS een geintje maken". That's just scary.

Kid= 3 letters
Kid in Dutch= 15 letters.

EDIT: Can it be?

300 POSTS!

That's the fastest 100 posts I've made!

I think you'd have had better luck with "DS child," which translates to "DS kind." By entering "kid" you got "geintje," which is Dutch for goat.

Heh, DS_Goat.

I'm definitely not gonna be able to do this. That word is totally and completely made up by yours truly.

Then use your real name.

I don't know. You could use your real name, but I don't think it's a great idea for a holiday.

Do reals names translate?

Either way, I don't nthink this is a great idea... Even though I'm not sick of the forum holidays, In think we should lay off for a bit, spread 'em out a bit more.

You could just translate it into poor Engrish. Like mine would be "Printer the Color" or somethin.

IDEA: Instead of translating your name, how about just making it sound like it's from a different language?

I'll go one better, if your name translates, do so, if it doesn't make it sound like it is.

Despite IJ's insinuations to the contrary, my name can, in fact, be translated. It means Twin. But I'm not so sure I'll bother changing it anytime soon. Unless I change it to Didymus II: This Time It's Not Didymus I.
