Strong Mad As A Thwomp Strong Mad A Thwomp Thwomps are giant stone enemies found in the Mario universe, originating in Super Mario Bros. 3. Usually found in castles, the Thwomp's primary form of attack is to drop from a great height once Mario is within close range, then float back up to where it came from. Strong Mad's costume resembles Thwomps found in Super Mario World, which had animated faces with mouths that opened as they dropped to the ground, though they wouldn't gain the distinctive red eyes featured on the costume until later in the series.
