Transcript

{Cut to the Lappy. Gavin is crawling on the screen. The lights are out. Strong Bad is not present. The lights suddenly turn on and Gavin crawls away.}

STRONG BAD: {Walks in} A little bit of email. Some you-and-me mail. {begins reading}

{Reads "marc baroni AZ" as "macaroni from A to Z"}

STRONG BAD: Ooh! Alphabet macaroni! {typing} The get up noise? Oh wait, you mean the Geddup Noise. This guy!

{Strong Bad gets up and sits down three times, making the noise each time}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Ahhh, what fun! But that's not even the real Geddup Noise. That's just his cousin, Chairscoot. {clears screen} No, the real Geddup noise split quite some time ago. Somewheres right around email 84, Ol' Geddy got all big overseas. And then the phone calls started coming in.

{Cut to a close-up shot of Strong Bad. He is holding a phone.}

STRONG BAD: {into phone} Hello? What? Yes, no, yes.

{Zoom out to show that he's in his computer room. The text from email 84 (kids' book) is displayed on the screen of the Compy.}

STRONG BAD: It's for you. {tosses phone at stool}

{The Geddup Noise is heard. Cut back to the Lappy.}

STRONG BAD: {typing} And before I know it, every-freakin-body’s talkin about the Geddup Noise. {The Geddup Noise is heard over the last three words.}

{Cut to Coach Z and Bubs at the concession stand, which is now labelled "BUBSO'S CONCESSION STAND"}

COACH Z: Okay, now I got one Bubs-O. Who am I supposed to be? Aaaaooooroomah! Eeeeeeoooowree!

BUBS: Is that supposed to be the Geddup Noise?

COACH Z: Hang on! Hang on! Let me switch my pitch up! Waaay-o! Waaaay-o!

BUBS: {annoyed} Way-o way-o? I’ll be in the basement!

{The concession stand turns dark with only a yellow light shining from the top. Bubs slowly sinks into the basement.}

COACH Z: Way-o! Waaaay-o!

{Cut to the booOOM box, which holds a cassette tape labeled "Normal Bias"}

BOOOOM BOX (STRONG BAD'S RADIO ANNOUNCER VOICE): Hang on to your panties, people. {fart noise} Uh oh, what’s up? ‘Cause we got the Geddup Noise {doing sound} all up in this piece! {Geddup Noise, followed by laughter} Oh, man, we got a live one here! {old-timey automobile horn sounds}

{Cut to Strong Sad listening to the radio. He is wearing a black T-shirt that reads "This Is Not A The Geddup Noise T-Shirt".}

STRONG SAD: Oh, man. The Geddup Noise used to be cool.

{Cut to the set of The Show with Homestar}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: And as always, at center square, the Geddup Noise. {Pan to a wider shot. Nobody is seen standing next to him.} What do you say, Geddy? {The Geddup Noise is heard, followed by applause.} Now that is just special. But I’m afraid the correct answer was way-o, way-o .{"WAY-O, WAY-O" appears on screen as Homestar says it. The "wrong answer" music plays.} But you will receive some fine parting gifts.

{Cut to a copy of The Show's Stupid Home Edition}

FEW PRIZES!
THE SHOW! STUPID HOME EDITION

ANNOUNCER: That’s right, Kevin. The Geddup Noise will receive a year’s supply of our home game!

{Cut back to Strong Bad at the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: Even The Cheat was able to snag a piece of the Geddup Pie with his indie-tronic remix.

{CD of "DJ Teh Cheat - The Geddup Noise" appears; scene switches to Club Technochocolate, where The Cheat is spinning his own record. Bubs and Pom Pom put their weight on it. The song includes the Geddup Noise played over and over.}

SINGER:
The Geddup Noooooise!
The Geddup Noooise! (Geddup Geddup Geddup!)
The Geddup Noooooise! (Geddup Geddup Geddup!)
The Geddup Noooise!

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} And before long, a bunch of cheap knock-offs started popping up.

{Cut to the King of Town, seated in a wooden chair at a table in his castle}

KING OF TOWN: Hello, America! It’s the Standing Up Noise! {The "Standing Up Noise" logo appears, and the King of Town stands up; the chair makes a deep imitation Geddup Noise.} Boooo-ooo! {The King looks over to his right.}

{Cut to the Brothers Strongs' basement. Strong Bad is seated in a yellow chair}

STRONG BAD: {to screen} And now, everybody's favorite style, the Git Outcha Seat Sound! {The Homsar walking sound accompanies the "Git Outcha Seat" logo} {Strong Bad gets up from a yellow seat and makes a low-pitched imitation Geddup Noise.} Isn’t that right, the Teach?

{Strong Mad's left hand appears from behind the sofa. He has a blue sock on his hand with The Cheat-like features drawn on it.}

THE TEACH (STRONG MAD): BLUE SOCK! BLUE SOCK!

{Return to the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: {typing, sounding embarrassed} Heh heh. That was just not, nu-, anything. So after that, Geddy bought a house in the Coches and now he just snowboards all day. He still pops up here and there in the odd, or sometimes very odd celebrity endorsement.

{Cut to a shot of Hamburger Shampoo. The Geddup Noise plays in the background.}

ANNOUNCER: Geddup Noise Approved!

"Like a backyard BBQ...on your hair!"
            hamburger
             SHAMPOO

{Cut to Strong Sad watching the Hamburger Shampoo commercial. He is wearing a white T-shirt that reads "Corporate The Geddup Noise Still Sucks".}

STRONG SAD: Frickin’ sell-out!

{Cut back to the Lappy again}

STRONG BAD: {typing} So I suppose that more than adequately answers your question, Shoshoni Macaroni.

{Pan out to a medium shot. Homestar is kneeling to Strong Bad's right, holding a notepad.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {to stool} Excuse me sir, could I trouble you for an autograph?

STRONG BAD: Homestar, you know that’s not even the original Geddup Noise. It’s his cousin...

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I know, Chairscoot. He’s my generation’s Geddup Noise! Uh, could you make it out to Lou Dobbs?

STRONG BAD: That’s it, I’m outta here. {Walks offscreen to stage right, making the Chairscoot Noise}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Ah! There it is! It’s positively dreamy! {little hearts float up out of Homestar's head and pop like bubbles} Ohhhh! {Homestar faints. He knocks the stool which makes the chairscoot noise one more time.}

{The Paper comes down.}

Easter Eggs

  • Click "Coches" before the cutaway to Strong Sad to see a postcard.
{The postcard's background is a snowy mountain range with the text Coches Mountains in the top left corner. Monkey D is up front wearing a winter hat, oven mitt and an I ♥ The Teach shirt. Along the bottom is the text Monkey D awaits you.}
  • Click on the stool to see additional footage of The Cheat's ambient mix in Club Technochocolate.
{Cut back to The Cheat, Pom Pom and Bubs dancing at Club Technochocolate. Coach Z enters and dances across the room. Then Strong Mad's sock puppet appears up front for a bit and lipsyncs the words "geddup geddup geddup", then disappears and reappears to the left where it lipsyncs again, and then goes back up front, where it lipsyncs one more time and then "dances" to the music. Then it fades to black and the Geddup Noise is heard.}
  • Click on the notepad and it'll bring up autograph #1:
My Pal
Lou Dobbs,
Stay real!
Chairscoot

Click on it again and it'll bring up autograph #2:

Lou Dobbs,
you've been
working out?
- Brent Musburger

Fun Facts

Explanations

  • The lights are off and Gavin is shown on the Lappy because it had been 7 weeks since the previous Strong Bad Email.
    • There was a similar occurrence of this in the email army.
  • "The Show's Stupid Home Edition" is a parody of popular game shows that give away home versions of their games as consolation prizes.

Trivia

  • "The Teach" is an anagram (and a phonetic reversal) of "The Cheat."

Remarks

  • Clicking on Gavin at the beginning of the email still makes the Lappy 486 respond with the ripple effect, as if you were clicking directly on the screen.
  • Marc's question is odd because the Geddup Noise appeared in three of the five previous emails (boring (really), record book, and lady...ing).
  • A get up noise like that is not even possible on carpet. Strong Bad's stool makes a noise as if it were scraping against tile or hardwood floor.
  • Strong Bad says the "get up noise" is correctly the "geddup noise", even though at the end of the bet he calls it the "get up noise".
  • Strong Bad would have to have looked up the email at which the Geddup noise got his phone call, because he lost count of emails at #51 until he was notified in flashback.
  • radio and anything are the only other times that Strong Sad has worn a shirt.
  • When the close-up of the Disconnected Phone is shown, there is no cord extending from it. The cord is visible only when Strong Bad throws the phone on the floor.

Goofs

  • When Strong Bad is repeatedly getting up and sitting back down again, the laces on the back of his head should be visible while he is getting up.
  • When Strong Bad is doing the Git Outcha Seat Sound, the yellow seat has only three legs.
  • At the end, the words 'Lappy 486' are further to the left than usual.
