Oracle is not a joke. It's a database. A wiki needs a database to hold all the information. We use MySQL, but there are many others, and the MediaWiki developers have been working to extend the software to be able to use the Oracle database. It's still in the experimental phase, which is why it was noted with an exclamation mark, indicating that it's not recommeded for important applications yet. I was a pretty obnoxious kid, huh? Although I guess most people are that obsessed with their own opinions at that age. Well, ish happens I guess. Either way, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank It's dot com as well as all the other responsible adults who gently led me through my childhood in such a retrospectively amusing way! You guys were all super nice yet appropriately reprimanding when I was being a total freak. If any of you were wondering (Will said, with a frighteningly small degree of facetiousness), I'm not so childish anymore.
 +
 +
Speaking of childhood, here's a funny thing I noticed: I've changed an incredible degree since age 12, and yet none of you seem to have changed at all. I looked at the recent changes part and It's Dot Com was one of the first ones I noticed. Perhaps most of that observation can be credited to how much people inevitably change during adolescence; nevertheless, it's sort of disturbing and comforting in equal parts to find this place exactly the same as I left it.
 +
 +
And I'll say this: it speaks plenty about genuine commitment that you guys are all still here, fixing that, adding on to this, and slowly and patiently leading all the little angry children that patrol this website. I find it admirable, if not the direction I would pursue in your situation. In any case, thanks for helping me out so much as a kid (if you guys even remember me).

P.S. That less parenthetical statement makes me think... what are all of our most recognizable online attributes? Are any of them truly distinctive enough to be remembered? Sort of an interesting thing to think about. If any of you remember me, I would like to be remembered for my enthusiastic use of emoticons and tendency to insert my voice into conversations I had less to do with than the Iran-Contra Affair.

What does inspire these weird trolls?

I wonder who Clan rHrN is, and why someone would hate him. The thing these trolls do sometimes.... >.> — Seriously (Talk) 02:00, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, I know who Clan is, and also why someone would dislike him... I don't condone such actions, however. --DorianGray
He's a guy on the Fanstuff Wiki. Here's his userpage. However, that's all I know about him. Has Matt? (talk) 02:16, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
He also likes to hang around the forum a lot, so you might want to check there. I won't say anything else, because I don't like to speak ill of others. --DorianGray
After some digging around, I found his user profile on the forum. Has Matt? (talk) 02:27, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
What I wonder, though, is why someone decided to spam so violently for him. I mean, what did Clan do? — Seriously (Talk) 02:45, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Welcome

welcome back. starting with a clean slate is good sometimes. hope all goes well. -Image:Homsar-in-motion.gifHomsar7(Hom · Sar)Image:Homsar-in-motion.gif

Thanks a lot, Homsar7. That means a lot to me. — Seriously (Talk) 02:45, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Homsarmy II

You can claim full ownership. I kind of do have a problem getting back to you, I admit. I've just been so busy with school (I don't get home until five o'clock), homework (two subjects every night except Fridays), and my personal life (friends, family, and my cat) that I haven't really spent all that much time on the Wiki of late.--Image:Homsar-in-motion.gifhr.pngΨHomsarΨroksΨImage:kookysig.gifImage:Cheat-shrug-tiny.gif 12:11, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, sometimes great wiki users just need to take a break, as they may have issues outside of this wedsite [sic]. — Seriously (Talk) 12:28, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

About your Wikistress caption

That's the truest thing i've heard in a while.

Anyone else agrees?

Nikolce Kocovski 06:39, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Heh, you're right. Glad to see you again. :) But yeah, my teacher has been constantly drilling me with stuff. Sixth grade is probably the hardest homework-wise, I think. Example: Yesterday, I had homework in every single subject. I have eight subjects. It's pretty brutal. :P — Seriously (Talk) 20:29, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
LOL—no, my son, it just gets worse! (Although, seriously, the kicker from what I've seen is that sixth grade is such a shock to the system if it means going from elementary to middle school. So much changes about the way students interact with teachers and the level of academic and life-management skills that are expected of them. And yes, actually, eight subjects' worth of homework in one night does sound like a lot by any standard.) —AbdiViklas 01:03, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Just wait. I got 2 words. STANDARDIZED TESTS. DBK! 01:43, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

your kidding me, in my year 6, all we got was one sheet of homework, both english and maths.

Seriously (Talk)
The top one is your current sig, complete with link to a pointless redirect page. The bottom one is your sig, actually linking to your talk page directly. Other than the underline on the link, they look exactly the same, and that's only because I have "Always underline links" turned on in my prefs. You claim it "It looks better that way!" but in fact it looks no different. The redirect page is completely pointless. --phlip TC 13:34, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

While I understand what you're saying, there's one thing that does make it look better. I just don't like seeing an empty link to my talk page when I'm viewing messages here. Thus, the redirect makes it a good link. But I'm not gonna contest this anymore, so you might as well delort it. — Seriously (Talk) 13:38, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Signature

Hi there Seriously, I noticed you recently changed the color of your signature. However the color you have chosen is quite hard to read, and impossible to read on your own talk page. Please consult HRWiki:Signature, specifically the line stating "Your signature can be a different color or colors, provided they are readable", and find a more visible color. Thanks, Thunderbird 15:22, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Recent post

That conversation had already wound down. Please don't post in discussions that don't concern you and that have finished just to stir things up with rants. — It's dot com 20:49, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to rant. I didn't bother to check if the discussion had already wound down. However, shouldn't you have reprimanded me for the first comment I made? 'Cause I don't see how that one is fine and this one isn't. :3 — Seriously (Talk) 20:54, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Stop, again

Stop. You've already apologized for posting stuff without thinking. And you keep on doing it. Honestly, just stop. Not even kidding. We're all starting to get a little edgy. Thanks, BazookaJoe 00:42, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Sysops

I am confused. Is it sysops and admins here that are sysops and admins at the fanstuff. Or is it only admins here that are admins also on the fanstuff?--H*bad 16:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

For some idiotic reason, all admins here are admins at the Fansuff wiki. However, no admins at the fanstuff wiki (besides Hrwiki admins) are admins here. — Seriously (Talk)
No, if you look closely, you'll see that the knowledge-base sysops just have reserve permissions at the fanstuff. That means that they can help out in an emergency, but don't have any responsibilities other than that. — It's dot com 04:35, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I understand that. However, I find it idiotic because admins from there aren't admins here. There's no reason why those sysops aren't as good as you guys. — Seriously (Talk) 19:07, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Because there's no need. We have enough KB sysops to completely cover the workload without a need for emergency reserves. — It's dot com 19:10, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
But then why not let the Fanstuff wiki have their own sysop nominations? I think there wouldn't be a need for reservists, then, and the Fanstuff wiki qwould be able to choose. — Seriously (Talk) 19:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
What, you mean like this? — It's dot com 19:23, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah. — Seriously (Talk) 19:24, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Then I don't see what you're griping about. As a rule, we stay out of the internal affairs of both the fanstuff and the forum, only stepping in in extreme circumstances. We let the fanstuff sysops and the forum mods handle all the day-to-day business of those venues. — It's dot com 19:27, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I understand what you're saying. I just mean that this (in my opinion, at least) isn't much of an extreme circumstance when the fanstuff wiki can have their own sysop nominations. — Seriously (Talk) 19:28, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Huh? An example of an extreme circumstance would be being overrun with a vandal attack. I can't think of anything short of that where the reservists should exercise their abilities. In general, that doesn't happen much, and so the current amount of fanstuff sysops is plenty. If you disagree, however, you should take it up with them, not here. — It's dot com 19:35, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Maybe we should just leave it up to the sysops--H*bad 23:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
