Dear The Chort, (can I just call you Chorty?) why am I not supposed to be watching the Flash file? I like bigscreen and outside-the-frame "glitches", and I can pause in the Flash file. -- 02:30, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

:Dear Fangoriously, (can I just call you Fangy?) when I say that you're "not supposed to watch the Flash file", what I'm trying to say is that all the cartoons on homestarrunner.com are designed to be watched via the HTML link. This is why anything that's missing or present "behind the black" (i.e. off-screen) due to laziness is not considered to be a Goof because no one is actually supposed to see it anyway; all the visitors to the website are supposed to be watching the toon at the correct page, not the Flash file. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from watching the Flash file (which I also frequently do), but if you're editing the wiki article at the same time, you need to remember to disregard anything that you would not have seen if you were watching the HTML version (i.e. anything behind the black). TBC have talked about this in a few interviews and public appearances, such as here and here. 18:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you made a few image edits, nicely done. A couple of things I'd like to point out to keep in mind so that we can make the image summaries super-perfect; one, if there's anything bold, it probably doesn't need to be; and two, link everything you can, including (and especially) inside references made in the picture. That's all. Thanks for the help, maybe with both of us, it'll only take 25 days as opposed to 50. 19:44, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
 +
:I think you mean "weeks" as opposed to "days", but I'll do my best to help out whenever I can. Just one thing, though, is it really OK to remove the bold tags? For as long as I can remember, we always used bold tags in the image summaries. Surely this is an established standard by now and to remove those three little lines would cause some confusion? 18:25, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
 +
::There's no standard to the bold tags. The image policy says nothing about them. Also i've noticed that there's no consistancy to them. Some of them are bolding the subject of the image, others bold the source... There's no need for any bolding whatsoever, the desription and links are enough. 18:40, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey, i noticed that you tagged two of the pictures i uploaded a couple months ago (sbeyes and sbhand; one is in my signature and one is a hiding userbox on my page most of the way down the list) as personal images, and i was wondering why. I fully intended for them to be put to use throughout the wiki, and they are both h*r-related. i thought a personal image was an image you uploaded that wasn't related to the website in any way and that wasn't intended to be put to use throughout the wiki. can i have some clarification please? 20:21, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
 +
:Simple. I used the guidelines set out on HRWiki:Personal images: "A personal image is defined as one not in specific use by the project." It is irrelevant whether the images are taken from homestarrunner.com or not. Since neither of those two images are currently in use on this wiki other than on your user page and your signature, they count as your two personal images. Of course, this definition also means that if either of the images was somehow put to good use somewhere else on this wiki, then it would no longer be considered as one of your personal images. This policy on personal images is basically just to stop people uploading large amounts of irrelevant images, and it doesn't really matter if your images have been tagged as personal images or not. 18:49, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

::So if i want to make a userbox using someone else's personal image, does that mean it relieves them of one of their personal images? I saw one that i thought i might want to use, and then i saw the personal image tag. is this okay? 04:04, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

:::There's nothing wrong with using any image which is already being used by another user. If you want to use a certain image, feel free to do so. According to HRWiki:Personal images, if more than one user is using the same image, then it should only be attributed to one of them... Attribute it to the person who uploaded it if he or she is using it... Else attribute it to the person who has been using it the longest. Hi. Chipwich 23:09, 1 May 2008
Hi! – The Chort 21:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nitpicking...

About your edit, a couple = two. You would say that a boyfriend and girlfriend are a couple, yes? And that's two people. So, yeah. No big deal, your reword was probably better anyway. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 21:58, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

This is the exact reason why I changed the word "couple"; it's too vague and can be interpreted differently by different people. For some people (like me), the word "couple", in some cases, can mean anything from two to, say, half a dozen, even though, it seems, this is not an accurate interpretation. I'm pretty impressed that you bothered to come all the way to my talk page just to tell me this. It's always lonely over here. – The Chort 14:47, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Minor edits

Hi! Just dropped in to leave another nitpicky note on your talk page ;-) Sorry if it's pretentious of me to say so, but I've noticed you tend to use the "minor edit" checkbox for a lot of edits that I don't consider minor, such as adding or removing content from mainspace articles. In particular, I wouldn't mark an edit as minor just because it's a reversion if the edit is removing some content — no matter how dubious or recently added the content was. (Vandalism, meh, that's another thing). In my opinion, anything more than syntax, spelling, making a link, or very slight rewordings shouldn't be marked as minor. I know there's no strict rules around here or anything — just wanted to throw that out there for your consideration. I probably err on the side of not marking things as minor as frequently as maybe I ought to. You seem to be a great editor. ;-)  Green Helmet 00:11, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, GreenHelmet, for the advice! – The Chort 16:35, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] IRL Help

I think you're in a position that you might be able to help me with something. Will you please e-mail me to provide me with your e-mail address, if you're willing? If you're not willing, that's totally fine, too. Curious, yet? =] OptimisticFool 07:46, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I do not hand out my email address to strangers on the Internet, like free cookies at the supermarket. And if you do have a problem, wouldn't the sysops be more useful anyway? I am but a simple Wikignome who just edits the main articles on a regular basis to help improve the overall quality of the Wiki. – The Chort 14:26, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
I respect that. And the reason I asked you is because what I need help with does not involve the wiki whatsoever. I need to ask a favor of someone in the UK. I will ask another; fear not. OptimisticFool 20:02, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Naturally, there will always be some exceptions to the rule. Regardless, a point had to be made, and both time and the character limit in the Summary field restricted any further research on my behalf. Oh, and you forgot what I want. – The Chort 16:48, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fanstuff Wiki

Hi, Umlaut76! Sorry, but I'd rather be helping out on the wiki, rather than spend my precious, limited spare time writing fan fiction unavoidably inferior to the genuine product, containing terrible new characters and words and... um... slash. – The Chort 20:27, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I believe you. In fact, I even tried to enter the fanstuff Wiki, but for some reason, it has a 20X6 Level 10 advertisement image with two links(Note: Both links do not take you to the new Wiki.) I guarantee they'll make the Stinkoman 20X6 10th level before they will show the new fanstuff Wiki. -Ümläut76 (The C Zone · Talk here!) 25 December 2008 (UTC)
This is despite the fact that you have no idea when either products will be released. Personally, the fact they're comparing the wait for Fanstuff to the wait for the final level of 20X6 (which was last updated over 3 years ago) says it all. – The Chort 20:35, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, the intrinsic quality of the original Fanstuff Wiki, which is now derelict, is probably the almost exact duration of when the 20X6 final level update has been totally abused. So, I am identically sure that the advertisement's duration may be as long as the original Fanstuff Wiki's existence[sic]. In other words, I am as sure as you are about the update being over 3 years ago. If you do not understand me, read the message real slow and easy. -Ümläut76 (The C Zone · Talk here!) 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Um... I see. – The Chort 17:57, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Your redirects and disambig fixes today are nothing short of epic awesome. You crazy fast, The Chort. I salute ye. (But I'm having trouble keeping up with marking as patrolled on teh recent changes! Mehh!) --Onamuji (b/w T. C.  ) 14:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

All you need is the "What links here" command in the toolbox on the left and a browser that uses tabs. It's the little tricks like that which allow devoted users to take gnome work to ridiculous outcomes. – The Chort 17:10, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] C'MON! Link it RIGHT!

Your link to C'MON! It's FOG! is broked. I won't leave it alone, though. free 16:36, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Unbroked. Plus, C'mon! It's FOG! is a ligitimate article. – The Chort 16:39, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] that fweakin' marshmallow

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. I HATE THAT FWEAKING MARSHMALLOW TOO! I GUESS I CAN STOP TYPING IN ALL CAPS NOW. So anydangway, I once printed out a picture of him, then Punkin Stencil...of him. I regret EVER DOING IT. Now every night I hope it doesn't talk to me like it did to Homestar. Why? It'll prabably give me career advice. Not that that's a bad thing, but I'M 13! I DON'T HAVE A JORB! If I see Marshie tonight, i'm getting out the Compund Bow.

Crapfully yours--68.39.79.161 02:20, 18 October 2009 (UTC)C-Son-L Sweaters and the Get Bored Crew

So I suddenly go AWOL for a month, without warning or explanation, and this is the only message you guys leave on my talk page? Did anyone even notice my inexplicable absence? I guess you guys got along just fine without me, huh? – The Chort 23:50, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Belated apology.

After rereading my old edits on the old Tomatocycle talk, I realize I was a huge jerk about it to you and all of the users who talked on it. So very sorry, and I will never say "goodbye and stop whining" again. Well, exlcuding the one I just typed, but that is beside the point. Are we cool? Just wanted to say that to you and all the users I offended.--Jellote wuz here 16:57, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

I understand. I've noticed that you've since become a great editor and I hope you'll continue to stick around, even though I can't anymore (my life is BUSY!) – The Chort 16:20, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
