::::::::Loafing, I'm not sure you read Meuhcoin correctly. He didn't say Bupkis should leave creating subtitles to others; rather, he said he should leave off '''correcting''' subtitles and that he should use the {{tl|fixtranslation}} tag if he does create subtitles. He also stressed that he'd be happy to fix them if he does so, something I've also discussed with Meuhcoin in the past. So I don't think Bupkis needs to stop completely (as long as Meuhcoin remains willing to check them), but I would like to emphasize: please use the fixtranslation tag. It alerts us that we need someone to check them over. Thanks. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 12:26, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

::::::::::Exactly. I don't want to prevent anyone from making subtitles if they enjoy it. I just want to make sure they use the fixtranslation tag as long as they're not 100% confident about their translation, so it can easily be tracked done and fixed if needed. Signature

Hey, Bupkis. Since you're better with these signature things than I am, could you explain to me how to have one of those "changey" signatures? I've created User:RickTommy/sig, but I just can't seem to make my signature match the one in that page. Oh, and on a side note, you might want to check out Subtitles:sbemail124/fr.

Archiving

Hi, That'sBupkis. I know you were just trying to help, but you archived Talk:Main Page to soon. If you have a look, you'll see that some of the items you archived were being discussed less than 24 hours ago. Topics that are still active shouldn't be archived like that. Also note that it's not required to archive each time we hit twenty threads; indeed, it should not be done unless there are twenty inactive threads. Thanks. Talk atcha later. Archiving FAS

Hi, That'sBupkis. Please leave each week's discussion at FAS on the page until that FA is off the main page. Even though it rarely happens, it's possible someone might want to discuss the FA that's currently on the page, so it shouldn't be removed until it's gone. Thanks. Heimstern Läufer 01:50, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Heimstern: Next time, just as you call It's Dot Com simply Dot Com, and as you are often called simply Heimstern, could you please call That's Bupkis simply Bupkis?

Bupkis: Yes, Heimstern is right, you should wait until it's off the main page. And on a side note, you might want to check out subtitles:sbemail124/fr and subtitles:sbemail149/fr. RickTommy (edits) 02:11, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I would like to point out that my name is not It's Dot Com. It's It's dot com. Neither is the shorter form Dot Com. It's Dot com. — It's dot com 02:42, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
{to RickTommy} I will be happy to call That'sBupkis just "Bupkis" if he personally requests it.
Just a note concerning subtitles: We really want native speakers, not learners, to be the ones who check subtitles. I'm pretty good at German, but even I need Loafing or Cass from Germany or someone to look mine over. So unless That'sBupkis is a native French speaker, I suggest it be someone else who looks over the subs. Thanks. Heimstern Läufer 03:55, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi That'sBupkis, I just wanted to remind you to be a little extra careful when archiving talk pages (or in this case finalizing an archive): a recent message had been accidentally deleted. Thanks! --Stux 01:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Subtitles

Bupkis, could you please check out the subtitles I mentioned above? RickTommy (edits) 00:03, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I'll get to those. That'sBupkis! 00:04, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
If I may have a word about this...I recently corrected the French subtitles for Crazy Cartoon, and I'm sorry to say that, when correcting those subtitles, you (that is, That'sBupkis) actually introduced more mistakes than correcting them. The subtitles RickTommy did were actually pretty good, and if they had stayed in that state, only some minor mistakes would have been left, that I could have fixed easily. But you rendered some sentences incomprehensible after trying to correct them.
For example, in the subtitles RickTommy did, he wrote Hé Strong Bad ! J'ai besoin qu'on me frappe dans le visage., which was an excellent translation. But you changed it to Hé Strong Bad ! Je besoin être frappe en la visage., which, I'm sorry to say, doesn't make any sense. The translation you made is missing a conjugated verb; "visage" is masculine, so it is indeed "le visage", and not "la visage"; even so, "en le visage" doesn't make sense, while "dans le visage" is completely correct. And that's just one sentence that you incorrectly fixed.
Again, I don't want to sound harsh. I know you're trying to help, and if you want to make more new subtitles, me or any other French native speaker that hangs around will be happy to correct them, as long as you don't forget the fixtranslation tag. But, until you're very confident about your French skills, you should probably not try to correct other people subtitles, and let native speakers handle them instead of risking to introduce even more errors.
Still, thanks for trying to help, I know you don't mean any harm. Have a nice day ! ---Meuhcoin 10:06, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, Bupkis, could you please make some more subtitles? RickTommy (edits) 01:40, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
My french has gotten better, and I learned "don't use en le" about a week after making the crazy cartoon subtitles. I guess I could try though. That'sBupkis! 03:09, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
And remember the French subtitling spree from earlier this year? How about another one of those soon? And on a side note, what's your background in French? RickTommy (edits) 00:03, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
I have some French ancestry, and if I'm gonna start subtitling again, I'll start on shorts and then work my way up toward big toons. My French has gotten better since. That'sBupkis! 00:27, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
So are you a "skilled user of a language (native speakers or advanced students with real-life experience using the language)" as requested in HRWiki:Subtitles#Translating_Subtitles? The subtitles that Meuhcoin talked about are only just over a month old. Your French will not have suddenly gone up to a near native level since then, not even if you'd have lived in France for the last five weeks. Please listen to Meuhcoin and let the experts create subtitles. Thank you for understanding.  Loafing 12:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Loafing, I'm not sure you read Meuhcoin correctly. He didn't say Bupkis should leave creating subtitles to others; rather, he said he should leave off correcting subtitles and that he should use the {{fixtranslation}} tag if he does create subtitles. It alerts us that we need someone to check them over. Thanks. Heimstern Läufer 12:26, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Apologies, Heimstern is correct. Hope my post doesn't keep you from making subtitles! Loafing 12:55, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
