Show Preview

Just a tip for future reference for when you're messing with your user page: when you're editing, there is a "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button – if you use that, you can see what you've changed without saving the page, which is easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and it doesn't fill up Recent changes with your edits. --phlip ^T_C 23:45, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Please, use Show Preview when you're editing pages... it's much harder to keep track of the changes to the wiki when there's 10 edits in a row on the same page, all by the same person, tweaking the formatting in ways that would be much easier done with Show Preview. --phlip ^T_C 12:55, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Going through your edits, I see that you have added "I suck" three times to user pages of other users. This is not acceptable. You need to learn to a) not take everything so personal and b) use talk pages to tell others in a civilized manner about your grievances. Editing while angry

Hello Sam. If you'll look at my reply on my talk page, you'll see that I don't actually have a problem with the article in question; rather, you simply need to follow the way we do things around here. I mean no disrespect to Dr. Clash, but if Phlip, who is a very accomplished editor (and is in fact a sysop here), nominates an article for deletion, then we are at least going to have a hearing on the matter. Just because an article is nominated for deletion doesn't mean it will be deleted. I want to caution you again against editing while you're angry. You might burn a bridge that you didn't really intend to burn. Just about every long-time user, myself included, has had something deleted that they worked for a while on. That's just the nature of the wiki, and you shouldn't take it personally or be discouraged by it. When things like that happen, I recommend you step back to cool off a bit before you do anything rash. Secondly, I would like to mention that it is a very bad idea to remove a Tobedeleted template from a page. If you read It's Dot com's reply on the page, it clearly says to "let a sysop do that." Hi there, Sam the Man. Actually, you might want to consider shifting focus to improving existing articles rather than trying to think of new ones to create. I've noticed that several of your articles have attracted discussion about merging or deletion (though several of those discussions have resulted in consensus to keep the articles) — the reason for this is that, with a few exceptions, we already have most of the articles we need. I'm sure it's not fun for you to have people discuss the deletion of your articles so soon after you create them, so I just thought I'd make this friendly suggestion. All this being said, I appreciate your contributions to the wiki, and you've made some good pages :)

You see move next to the history button. I clicked onto it and typed in the new name. I'm not a sysop but I'm getting closer. Besides, you don't have to be a sysop to move pages.

Welcoming

Hi there, Sam the Man: As you may have seen, the last three accounts you welcomed were all vandal accounts that had been blocked indefinitely, so there's obviously no point in welcoming them. In the future, it would be a good idea to check Recent Changes, and partitularly the block log, to make sure of that. Note also that, in this case, it wouldn't have been good to welcome them anyway because their usernames were too similar to those of existing users. Heimstern Läufer 23:27, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey there, Sam. I just wanted to clarify one of my comments here. There's no need to add the {{delete}} tag to articles that already have the {{tbd}} tag on them. That is, I totally understand why you did that in the last two cases — you were requesting that the pages be deleted because you felt that there was consensus to do so. Normally, however, the {{delete}} tag is reserved for articles for which no discussion is necessary (e.g., vandalism, etc.). In the course of time, sysops will go through articles with the {{tbd}} tag — usually, there's no rush on these. Make sense? Grood :) Trey56 23:29, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
