:(nod) Understood.  I remember back when I was more active here, sometimes those "voting sections" tended to help clarify the discussion, since having "Well, I hear this" comments spread through a discussion thread could make the information difficult to track and the whole conversation difficult to read.  But whatever works. :) And thanks! {{User:KieferSkunk/sig}} 22:46, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! ... Sincerely,
AbdiViklas and the rest of the welcoming committee (18:46, 10 October 2005 (UTC))

[edit] Congrats to Bubsty

Just wanted to leave a quick note in my own Talk congratulating Bubsty on a valiant effort to battle the trollbots we experienced earlier today. I tried to help as well, but I was only able to affect about 5 or 6 pages before the site went down completely. (Plus, I had to do actual work, too.)

So, great jorb there, Bubsty! - KieferSkunk 07:59, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you. And congrats on your defender of the wiki award! — talk Bubsty edits 20:00, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Defender of the Wiki

The fluoride sting
Even in the midst of the blitzkreig of trollbotting on the night of November 11, 2005, KieferSkunk had his wits about him. Along with a host of other stout-hearted users he became a first responder, reverting before the insolent foe had even completed his ill-fated career. For promptitude of the first degree, this barnstar is hereby awarded. —AbdiViklas 08:21, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
I definately agree. I think you were the first one (other then me) to notice the trollbot. Congratulations!!! — talk Bubsty edits 16:24, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
Aww, thanks you guys. :) - KieferSkunk 17:12, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] stinkoman 20X6

Nice work on the 20X6 enemies page! — talk Bubsty edits 23:41, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! Did you see my edits on Awexome Cross and Population: Tire as well? :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 23:42, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Well... I have now! Nice goin! — talk Bubsty edits 00:48, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sig-ness.

I realized just now that my sig looks freaky-similar to yours. I probably saw it on a talk page a while ago and decided that my sig should look something like that. I never knew it turned out so similar. Heh. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

Nay, you've been here longer than I have. I modeled my sig after yours. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:26, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Lol. I'm seeing double! O_o --Stux 19:12, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Btw, Kiefer, the "talk" part of your sig isn't a link for me. I don't know whether it's just me, or whether something's missing there! —AbdiViklas 20:45, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Is that on all pages or just this one? You can't click on a link to a page if you're already on it, as I will now demonstrate: User talk:KieferSkunk. See how it's unclickable? --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 20:49, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
For any page that links to itself, the link becomes plain text. It just works out that way. — Lapper (talk) 20:51, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Abdi: What they said. :) Check and see if the Talk link works on other pages, like STUFF/space program. It should work from there. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 21:02, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah yeah, wight wight. Makes sense. —AbdiViklas 21:26, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Seriously!

User:Seriously was right about 50 emails, but I'm sure there are several places where Homestar Runner, well, reads. I like to keep only two or three examples in a fact, but it doesn't really matter. Thanks for fixing it up. —FireBird|Talk 22:04, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

No problem. :) I saw his original point, and I considered expounding on it (giving a reason as to why 50 emails was significant). But like I said in the edit, that didn't excuse him being a jerk about it. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 22:06, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
You can't be serious! That ball was on the line! I don't believe this! (Sorry... I couldn't help it.) :) — It's dot com
wait....what did i do? i kinda forget....Seriously (Talk) 23:21, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
We were discussing this edit and a few edits before that on The King of Town DVD. I believe you got blocked for those edits. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 23:29, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No thanks

No, I don't need a greeting. I've been Wiki-ing for nearly 2 years now. I'm fluent enough in Wiki. And no, don't give me that "You're new to HR Wiki though", because I'm really, really not. Seriously, you people are too nice, and I don't need two hundred greeting messages every time I join another wiki. Sorry that I'm lashing out at you, but by your logic "I'm too noob to even edit correctly", so please, extend this message to the greetings parties, that they should check WHEN the user created his/her account. In fact, if you just did a quick Google search for "RPharazon", you would conviniently find my Wikipedia Profile as the first result. Thank you for your time. - RPharazon 00:37, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Heh, sorry. I try to extend the standard greeting message to all users who don't have a Talk page yet. And unless I'm missing something, I don't have a way of knowing when your account was actually created, except by looking at your Contributions page. That's why I mentioned that you'd been here for a while in the Recent Changes comment.
Anyway, sorry to have annoyed you. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:41, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Wow. That guy made two main namespace edits in the course of a year; I think you were correct to welcome him. Especially since nobody ever had. I bet he's a real hit at parties, though. — It's dot com 01:00, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Nobody ever welcomed me? What about Here?
Wikipedia and HRWiki are two separate sites. Just because you've been around on Wikipedia for a long time doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't welcome you to HRWiki. Besides, I'm not aware that any of us are accustomed to checking other Wikis to see if a user exists there. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:28, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Also, I've nearly never made major edits because my edits are auto-set to minor. All I do on wikis is browse like a maniac, and fix any problems that so occur. I also contribute a little, add images, and fix general grammar and punctuations. I just don't use the preview button a lot. - RPharazon 02:04, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Whatever, dude. Most people would just say thanks for the welcome or not reply at all, instead of lashing out. Kiefer obviously knew yours was not a new account, and just wanted to say hey. Anyways, maybe we're getting off on the wrong foot here, so let's start over: Welcome to the wiki! — It's dot com 02:16, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi RPharazon, and again, welcome to the wiki! You asked: Nobody ever welcomed me? What about Here?. I would just like to mention that we are not affilliated in any way with Wikipedia or the Wikipedia foundation in any formal way (other than we use their software suit). So, to us, a new user is a new user, and we have no way of knowing how much previous wiki experience they've had or if they have been welcomed in other wiki's before. We do our best to make sure people feel welcomed to contribute in this wiki, and if the account has been active for a while we would consider it more of an oversight that you weren't welcomed (officially) before! So please understand where we're coming from. <this is the part where I say "sincerely", or "crapfully yours", or "crapfully crap", or come up with some witty comment... but I won't. Nope. I won't.> --Stux 05:02, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Additionally, the links provided in the welcome message deal with getting accustomed not only to the MediaWiki software, which you obviously are, but far more importantly, to our standards and moduses operendis {I know there's a real Latin plural for those, but I'm lazy}. Which are significantly different from Wikipedias. —AbdiViklas 18:35, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Userpage blockquote

Hey, I noticed that one of your emails on your userpage is from Homestar, but SB's reflection is still there. There's a workaround to this (used in anything and on my userpage). Instead of just

<blockquote class="email">

You can get rid of the SB background by using

<blockquote class="email" style="background-image:none">

instead. Thanks! - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)

Thanks for the tip! I didn't really bother with changing the formats of the emails - doesn't bother me that Strong Bad appears in the background of all of them. :) Maybe eventually I'll come up with a way to put each character's image in the background. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 18:32, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Wow. I'm still seeing double? Did you know both your names have 3 K's (and obviously both begin with K)? So... cool! --Stux 19:37, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Marzipan's Answering Machine X.0

Thanks for all your help eliminating redirects! — Bill 20:07, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

No problem! :) Happy to help - that "What Links Here" toolbox page is VERY useful. ;) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:12, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Reword vs. revise

Hey KieferSkunk. A full revision wasn't necessary on that STUFF item about the SAAB lighter, because the underlying substance of the fact didn't change. I took your version and your comments and just pasted them over the original, and I switched your vote from decline to accept at the top. Please look it over to make sure everything is shipshape. Thanks. — It's dot com 01:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Looks fine to me. Thanks. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 01:41, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rreshing pages

Hey KieferSkunk. Happy New Year! Here's a tip on refreshing pages without having to create a new entry in the page history. Click "edit" at the top of the page you want to refresh. In the URL, replace "action=edit" with "action=purge". Press Enter. Voilà! — It's dot com 00:54, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh, cool! Thanks. :) And Happy New Year to you too! — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:58, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Crapfully yours redirects

Hang on a second. — It's dot com 00:14, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Meh? What's going on? — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:15, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't think those articles should be merged. They describe different things. — It's dot com 00:16, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
How so? They all concern the word "Crap", just in different forms. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:19, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
The article on Crapfully Yours describes a phenomenon outside the simple use of the word. — It's dot com 00:21, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Okay, then. I significantly modified the Crapfully Yours section in Crap from the way it was in Crapfully Yours, so I'd like to use the new code on the old page. There are also some non-signature "craps" in there that can probably be listed in "Miscellaneous "Crap"", like "Send me a little email and I'll give you a little crap", etc. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 00:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Cool. :) — It's dot com 00:26, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fatburger

Hey, there's one of those not far from my parents (who live on the east coast)! Though my family never eats there. Anyway, I can relate to the name issue; my last name is pronounced EXACTLY the way that it's spelled, but people get it wrong more often than not (it has an O and a double D; lots of people pronounce it as if it had a double O and a single D instead.) --Jay (Talk) 06:21, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Fascinating! I really thought Fatburger was a Southern California exclusive! Shows what I know. I guess I should have expected it; even In-N-Out is no longer exclusive to So Cal. We have both in Santa Barbara. Talk atcha later! Heimstern Läufer 06:30, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I kinda wish they'd get some In-N-Outs up here. They're a really good shop. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 06:54, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
No kidding. When I lived in the Northwest, it was one of the things I most missed about California. That and the sun. And Disneyland. And just Los Angeles itself. I love that place. But anyway, I live in So Cal again, so I'm glad of that. I'm sure I'll be visiting In-N-Out within the next few days! Heimstern Läufer 07:10, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I read what you guys write about "not having this", and "not having that...". Here we only have three chains of burgers: McDonalds, Burger King and Burger Ranch (a local). Other then a few small places we've got nothing else! We don't even have Mountain Dew! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:28, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
There are other burger resturaunts than Burger King?? o_O --DorianGray
Uh, yeah; and some have even worse names than burgerking. Like fatburger. Seriously (Talk) 00:39, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Feel like reviving this month-and-a-half old topic with a new anecdote: My first name (Jason) was recently misspelled by a restaurant as "Jazen". WTF?!?! --Jay (Talk) 01:20, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't even want to begin going into why it's so hard to write "Nat". Everyone assumes they've misheard and writes "Nate" or "Matt". It starts with an "N" rhymes with "cat", folks! Haven't people ever heard of Nat King Cole? Anyway, another example of first-name mangling. Heimstern Läufer 01:26, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
You think you have problems? Try being named Sean. No one can pronounce it (usually interpreting it as something like "seen"), and they always misspell it. I had a preschool teacher who insisted my name was spelt "Shawn". Um, even as a three years old boy, I know how to spell my own name. It's Irish, peoples. Like "Seamus". --DorianGray
Heh. My cousin is named "Sean" so I wouldn't have had trouble with that. --Jay (Talk) 01:39, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kitty!

Is that a Chrono Trigger kitty in your sig? *huggles it* Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 02:00, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes! :) I was thinking of replacing it with an animated version, of it walking. I used pretty much the whole set of sprites as animated icons in my program FoxPlay (which I am no longer supporting). — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 02:03, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, I have to go in to work around 9am, so if it's not there by then, I won't have it with me in my office. :/ I'll be back home tonight between 6 and 7pm, so I'll check then to see if the package has arrived and will leave a message for you here. Well, Kiefer is marrying a lovely woman in a couple of weeks, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. But alls I really meant is that people from an online community almost never actually see each other, and so that fact shouldn't go unobserved. — It's dot com 03:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
No, I think I'd feel perfectly fine with it going unobserved. Thunderbird 03:53, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Haldo, KieferSkunk

Hey, KieferSkunk. Long time no see. How have you been doing lately? On your userpage, I couldn't help but notice you like Animal Crossing. It's a great game, isn't it? If you really loved it (and still play it, even) then I'd strongly suggest you but a DS solely for that purpose. Not only is the DS a fantrastic game system, but Animal Crossing Wild World is worth the cost. Really, it's all the fun of the GameCube version but with countless upgrades and stuff like that. Cheers! — Seriously (Talk) 19:06, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Yep, got a DS already (I've had one for a while now), and I picked up AC for it. To be honest, I didn't like the DS version as much as the GC version, and I kinda got bored with the game as a whole - I found a way to quickly make money in the GC version, such that I got my debts paid off very quickly, got lots of cool stuff for my house, etc., and after that, it became really boring. My current favorite games are all on the Xbox 360 now. Thanks for the tip, though. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 13:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Ah, sweetness. Why didn't you like the DS version as much? Can you tell em that tip for getting tons of money quickly? Oh, by the way, there's a great game coming out for the DS called New Super Mario Bros. Whether you've played many Mario games or not, you'll love this game. I've heard about it as mario.nintendo.com, and it's gonna be awesome. — Seriously (Talk) 20:06, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Sure. GC version only: Find an igloo with one of the nice female characters in it. (In my game, these were Kiki, Ava and Bessie.) Play their games to get various objects and sell objects to them. It doesn't really matter which objects they are. When the character offers to play a game to buy one of your items, go ahead and play, and she'll tell you to pick one of four cards. The randomly-shuffled cards give you 10 bells, around 500 bells, around 2000 bells, or exactly HALF of the amount of money you have on you. Meaning if you have 80000 bells, you'll get 40000 for the object if you pick the right card. Just keep playing, and eventually you'll make quite a bit of money. :) I managed to pay off all my house upgrades in just a few days using this method. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 02:21, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Where?

"Distorted sound is not really very noteworthy. Also, it's happened several times before, not just in replacement". You said that in what i want. Where else is the distorted sound from? --TheYellowDart(t/c)

Check out pop-up as well - the speakers in Strong Bad's pop-up book were also notably distorted. And again in virus, which featured Marzipan becoming ASCII text and talking in a voice so horribly distorted that it was pretty much unrecognizeable. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:57, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Next-gen STUFF

I'm not gonna keep arguing over it in STUFF because it's gonna pass anyway, but I do find it odd that in this case speculative information as to the intent of TBC is being accepted while in alot of cases "Facts" which seem to me to have more evidence than this one are argued against with gusto. I can't for the life of me figure out why everyone is so willing to accept that TBC had Reynolds brother playing video games and said "lets package him with a 'next-gen gamepad' and lets use a SNES pad for our design inspiration" without question or debate, it's not an SNES gamepad, and while it does have simularities, and depending on the age you give to everything may or maynot fit a timeline, it still seems very speculative. There have been a number of much more spirited debates over very simular coincidences, some that have seemed to me to be much more likely to be something that inspired TBC that anything that we have at this time to support this idea. - ISTC 21:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I did not say it WAS a SNES gamepad. I said it LOOKS like a SNES gamepad. The SNES pad has a very distinctive shape and style that TBC have almost completely replicated in the Easter egg. That's why I pointed it out. There is nothing speculative in the fact itself, and the arguments are simply there to support what's written in the fact under debate. Yes, I acknowledge that we don't know what TBC's intent was, but given their history, I believe there's a lot of supporting evidence. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 23:02, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Doooood! You're still alive!

Doooood! you're still alive! How are ya!? What's new? What's up? I'm trying not to hide as much. :) --Stux 00:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Heya Stux. I'm doing okay - just been really really busy and stuff. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 01:25, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, me too. I totally feel for you on that one. I'm on Spring Break right now but I'll be going back to the grind soon enough! --Stux 03:50, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Weird coincidence.

Hi. I'm a weird IP guy who doesn't bother to make an account, yet helps out anyway. That Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns is pretty helpful. Thanks for making that. I just saw your website yesterday. Your ferret character kind of reminds me of me. I sometimes just randomly pick things up. Sometimes I walk around with them and put them back in a weird place. "Has anyone seen the paperweight?" Sometimes, when I'm really bored or listening to music in my head, I start drumming on everything. That really bugs everybody else. :) I saw your Livejournal, too. Bean tax dream = HILARIOUS!!! XD

Probably see you around sometime,

--99.130.160.6 13:21, 18 June 2008 (UTC), but I'm usually called Alex H.

Oh, and I also LOVE electronic music. I get teased about that sometimes. Why? I have no idea! Have you ever been ridiculed because of your musical preference? --Alex H.

[edit] Nowrap in signature

Hey there KieferSkunk, I just wanted to see if you wouldn't mind modifying your sig a little bit... currently, if your sig is put into a compressed space, like a table or something, it'll wrap around the two —'s you have, making it two or three lines long. By modifying it to

—<span style="white-space: nowrap">[[Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif]] '''[[User:KieferSkunk|<span style="color:#000">K</span><span style="color:#222">i</span><span style="color:#444">e</span><span style="color:#666">f</span><span style="color:#888">e</span><span style="color:#aaa">r</span><span style="color:#222">S</span><span style="color:#444">k</span><span style="color:#666">u</span><span style="color:#888">n</span><span style="color:#aaa">k</span>]]''' <span style="font-size:smaller; color:#bbf;">([[User talk:KieferSkunk|<span style="color:#88f">talk</span>]])</span><span style="white-space: nowrap">—

It'll look totally the same but will no longer wrap. Thanks! —Guard Duck talk 02:33, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually decided to just simplify my sig so it's not so unwieldy, but thanks. :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:45, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Voting

Hey there, aside from the conversation being a year old, we tend not to vote on things here, instead opting for discussion and consensus. We decommissioned STUFF because we've moved away from the system of voting. Just letting you know about the policy change, since i know you haven't been around much recently. And welcome back. — Defender1031*Talk 22:41, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

(nod) Understood. I remember back when I was more active here, sometimes those "voting sections" tended to help clarify the discussion, since having "Well, I hear this" comments spread through a discussion thread could make the information difficult to track and the whole conversation difficult to read. But whatever works. :) And thanks! — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 22:46, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
