Possible addition of joke on your user page

Hi, ISTK. I just wanted to suggest to you that you could add something like "...but I didn't slay the peas-an-try" to the first line of your user page. When I first saw your username and clicked on your user page for the first time, I thought sure I'd see a joke referencing Eric Clapton/Bob Marley in there somewhere, but alas. Just a suggestion that I thought I'd throw to you, since I figured you'd like jokes TBC might use since it appears you're a fan of their style of humor. Cheers. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 17:04, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

About your user page...

What be up Mr. Thekerrek? Sorry, but I just thought I could make a suggestion. Your user page seems a little (how should I put this) white. Since you supposedly slayed the Kerrek why not add a pic to your page depicting your triumphant victory, like...

I mean, take a look at my user page. It's been overrun by pix! Cheatachu72 03:05, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Very nice, Cheatachu! I think I'll add this. --ISlayedTheKerrek 17:58, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Cool. You're my newest homeslice! Cheatachu72 04:31, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hey Dude!

I think your webpages are AWESOME!!! For real. -Kinsey

-I have a fan? Cool. Muchas gracias, Kinsey. --ISlayedTheKerrek 19:15, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)

How to STUFF

Hey there ISlayedTheKerrek. You really need to take a look at the instructions for how to STUFF. — It's dot com 02:27, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

I did. I don't know how it came out the original way, and besides the point, why was STUFF made so hard to do? The old version was a lot more serviceable- never really understood why it was changed. --ISlayedTheKerrek 02:47, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
It was changed because it was too unorganized. It had deteriorated into a haphazard forum where votes were hard to tabulate and personal attacks were rife. — It's dot com 02:53, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the Winds

I didn't revert your change of Winds to Brass because it's still technically correct, but it's not true that the trumpet isn't a memeber of the Winds; you're thinking specifically of woodwinds. Brass is a subsection of Winds (i.e. instruments you blow into). —AbdiViklas 23:06, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Ya got a point, but I was always told that wind instruments usually referred to woodwinds. That's what they taught me in school, that's what I stick with. --ISlayedTheKerrek 04:02, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Brass and woodwind are both wind instruments. Brass just have mouthpieces, while Woodwinds have reeds. -- Salty 04:07, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Either way, sign your piece. --ISlayedTheKerrek 04:07, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, forgot. Also, I don't know why it says my name is Salty. I'm Lappy 486. -- Lappy 486 04:07, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Wait, are you saying you weren't doing that yourself? That's weird. —AbdiViklas 04:13, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
You mean how I didn't make it say Salty? I don't know why it does that. My username is Salty on some forums, though. It just says Salty when I do the two hyphens. -- Salty 04:15, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Check your preferences, maybe? --DorianGray
I was gettin' a little worried...I thought my talk page was possessed, lol. --ISlayedTheKerrek 04:20, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Seriously, that's still weird. Are you signing with "-- ~~~~"? And it's piping your link for you? —AbdiViklas 04:31, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
That's what I sign off with. But I guess it's okay, because I decided to request a name change. To Salty. Cuz Salty is my name on a lot of forums. -- Salty 04:36, 26 November 2005 (UTC) <---Still says Salty

Summarize

Hello, and thanks for contributing to the HRWiki. When editing a page, there is a field labeled "Summary" under the main edit-box. Please remember to always fill in the summary field, as even a short summary is better than no summary. Indicate in the edit summary field why you changed the page; this will greatly help other contributors in understanding your reasoning. Thanks. (BTW, some great editing lately!) "Grammar police"

Almost ever since I joined this wiki, you have derisively called me the "grammar police" and made other snide remarks about my and others' editing in your edit summaries. This needs to stop. If you have issues with the editing of others, take it up on their talk pages, and be polite about it. Also, please stop with saying "don't revert my edit" when you change captions. No editor on this wiki is in a position to make such demands. Thank you. Heimstern Läufer 15:38, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, maybe if you didn't feel the need make every single caption on the entire wiki grammatically correct, maybe, JUST MAYBE, I wouldn't call you the grammar police. You also didn't need to be snide either when you said in your edit that "no caption should be changed." That's hogwash. If a better fitting caption exists, then it should replace the one currently there. I have not taken issue with anyone's editing except yours, because of your tendency to be a little overaggressive in your hope that every page will be grammatically correct. --ISlayedTheKerrek 18:07, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Hold on, you object to the fact that I try to make pages grammatically correct? Dude, this wiki is supposed to be encyclopedic. Yes, it's about dumb animal characters, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to be professional. If my saying it won't help, then read HRWiki:Standards, which states that grammar and spelling should be correct in our articles. Secondly, I was not snide in my remark. I was simply stating what I believe to be true and what I believe the to be the wiki's consensus on captions, which is that they are a very low priority, as they contriubute very little to the content of the article and that changing them tends just to lead to disagreements. I will not dignify your "hogwash" comment with an response. Thirdly, you have in fact on a regular basis made ill comments about users other than me, notably in STUFF, where you frequently imply that those who disagree with you aren't thinking right. If you really want me to provide links demonstrating this, I will do so. I therefore stand by my original assertions that you need to cease with your disrespect for other users. Heimstern Läufer 18:41, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
There's a line between being professional and being ridiculous, and you come dangerously close to crossing it with almost every single one of those stupid edits. Captions are not part of the article, they are part of the picture, and that itself is separate from the article. That's what I believe. And considering that you won't even defend your position just because I used the word "hogwash" in the response just proves that I'm right. In response to your false third point, please define a regular basis. What you say I've done on a regular basis I've maybe done two or three times in my entire two-plus years as a wiki member. I do not disrespect any user. If their point makes no sense, I will disagree with it (maybe more bluntly than you would prefer me to, but that's my way), but I will not go out of my way to do that. You want to talk about disrespect? I consider this a huge disrespect, coming onto my user talk page and personally attacking me. Where's your standards now, Laufer? --ISlayedTheKerrek 17:22, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
ISTK, how can you call Heimstern's edits "stupid" and claim that you do not disrespect users in the same paragraph? Heimstern did not post on your talk page to personally attack you, but because you personally attacked him and were making unreasonable demands in your edit summaries. Now, your behaviour aside, there is absolutely no question about whether good grammar is good or bad. If an editor spots bad grammar on a page, then he/she fixes it. That's the idea of a wiki. Honestly, I don't get what your problem is. At all. Please stop disrespecting Heimstern for making good edits, and please accept the fact that this wiki is about working together towards one goal, not about people "owning" certain parts of an article. Loafing 01:47, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
You're misinterpreting what I said, Loafing, and so is the sysop in question here. If there's bad grammar in an article, fine. I expect someone to pick it up. Key word: ARTICLE. If a picture caption doesn't have quotes in it, that doesn't necessarily mean it should be corrected because it has bad grammar. His apparent glee in doing so earned him the title of "grammar police" in my book. The edits got a little ridiculous, which is why I called THEM stupid. Note I didn't call HIM stupid. He was a little too overagressive with his editing, moreso than he should have been. He didn't need to be as smart-alecky as he was with my edit. Also, I don't appreciate being labeled as a person who thinks he "owns" anything on this wiki. I've just grown tired of almost everything I put into the wiki lately being somehow reverted to the previous thing. Maybe I shouldn't express my frustrations that way, and if I've offended anyone I do apologize. I DID NOT ATTACK HEIMSTERN AT ALL. He sought fit to come on my page, he came out and said a lot of things about me that just aren't true, and I don't appreciate that. Maybe I've been a little overagressive too. But I am NOT disrespectful to other users. Take a look through my posting history. Yes, I may disagree a little more vocally (for lack of a better term) on certain topics than others, and I may not like certain opinions, but I do not go on people's talk pages and do something like what is being done to me right now. I don't appreciate it, it's not fair, and I don't appreciate labels being put on me that don't apply. --ISlayedTheKerrek 03:09, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

ISTK, how can you say that you don't own something when you ask more than a few times for people not to change your edit.

  1. ...says the grammar police man. Another edit, please keep this time.
  2. It WASN'T a direct quote. Please stop reverting my captions.
  3. Please don't change this caption.

You don't have any right to ask that anything not be changed including your own userpage. I went only back as far as January, and it seems that you spent the majority your time here changing captions. Since this has been going on at least since Jan, perhaps you'd take the hint by now that we will correct grammatic errors no matter where they lay lie; even in captions (which are part of the article). I R F 04:14, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Did you even READ my previous spot there? I apologized for it, and yet you keep piling on. Why? WHY? But whatever. I'm sorry you don't appreciate what I do around here. I do make good edits, but apparently, all you see is me saying one thing which I admitted I shouldn't have said, and you can't see past that. Why is that? I apologized. Now it's just piling on, and it's really starting to upset me. As far as I'm concerned, unless you have some sort of apology or otherwise to extend to me, this discussion is over. --ISlayedTheKerrek 04:45, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes

Hey ISlayedTheKerrek, I noticed that there are some stray table fragments (| and |-) on your user page. Would you like those removed? If so, all you have to do is add the line {{userboxtop}} before the userboxes and |} after them. The thought also occurred to me that you may have omitted these tags on purpose because you didn't want the boxes on the right side of your page; if so, I can make it so that they're centered or appear on the left. Just let me know if you want me to tweak 'em. Best, Trey56 05:40, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

If you want to, Trey, by all means go ahead and do it. I didn't know what I was doing. I'd appreciate that. --ISlayedTheKerrek 04:46, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
