  • If you have a question that isn't addressed on a help page, you can ask it on the FAQ talk page.

To get plugged in to the community:

Stuffed animals

First, i want to talk to you about this. In the future, don't leave a note on the page about what you want on the page or you started the page and you need help. The right thing to do is to say that on the talk page. Second, I like the fact that you're contributing to our wiki. Bravo! User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:38, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I got your message. It's fine, but it's a shower for the wiki if we do not say talk posts on the actual page. Thank you, and have a great wiki experience. Oh, and remember, to sign easily, type 4 tildes (~~~~) User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 23:32, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

How a wiki works

Hey, welcome to the HRWiki.

Allow me to ramble a bit on how a wiki works.

When you have an idea for a page, or an edit, or any addition to the wiki, you go ahead and be bold and do it. At that moment, it is no longer yours, it belongs to us all. It's a gift, with which we must decide what to do. Aunt Edna's crappy argyle creche went into the trash, and some of the submissions here do as well. But many are workable.

So how do we decide? We look for consensus. That simply means we try to apply the wiki community's opinion at large to the problem. Sometimes there is established consensus, like with 3 appearances needed for a running gag to merit a page. Sometimes there isn't consensus yet, and we need to discuss. And occasionally consensus has changed, and we discuss a lot.

Don't allow any one user to tell you an idea is bad unless he can cite consensus behind it. And even if they do, and you really think it would fit, go for it. The worst thing that can happen is it gats a-deleted. If you never put it up in the first place, it's the same thing, right?

So read the editing help, read the policies and guidelines, and get a feel for how we do business. We're all gonna help you along the way. I know you want to be a contributor, and frankly most 13-year-olds just want to play and have clubs and that's ok, I guess, but I'm happy you want to actually contribute to the knowledge base. Feel free to ask me at any time if you have a question, and I'm sure I speak for all the sysops and other power-users here with that. We absolutely love helping honestly interested users who want to further the wiki in good faith. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 04:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Question mark?

Hey, saw a note here that seemed unanswered. Yes, a separate login is required for this wiki, the fanstuff wiki and the forum. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 13:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Show Preview Button

Hi, Homstarstrongbad150. I'm not sure if you already know, but I just want to point out the Show Preview Button. It's just to the right of the Save Page Button when editing. By pressing this, you can see a preview of what the page will look like if you were to save, but not actually saving. By doing a preview, you can find mistakes or correct formatting and not flood Recent Changes and the page's history. Forgetting and having to re-save the page with a minor edit every now and again is normal and ok, but try not to do too many edits to the same page. Remember: I made this message to save you work. hey, gotta answer

now, you seem nice enough to answer begginner's question.

how do you load screenshots? if possible, answer me on my talk not on this page.

thanks, Homsarstrongbad150 01:44, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

here's 2 more : how do you stop the site from clocking you out every 2 minutes. is that because i never signed out for 2 weeks once?

and another, how do you make your signature with the color writing and gifs like yours?

again, my talk, not yours, please

Homsarstrongbad150 03:37, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Strong Bad. I mean, Lionel Ritchie. I mean, Homsarstrongbad150. Screenshots are simple. When you're on the screen you want to shoot, hit your printscreen key, then paste it into a picture editor, crop and modify as needed, and then use the upload (in the left column) to put them on the wiki.
Constantly logged out? Did you check the box that says to keep you logged in?
And as far as sigs, read Help:Signatures#Customization first, that may answer your question. And feel free to reply here, I have set your page to watch. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

thank you so much for your help. i knew you were nice enough to answer my questions!  :)

another question

hey, cornman, or whatever your name is (this guy [1]) , you said you watched my page, so i posted here. anyway, can you explain the basics of the forum. i joined because of this post.[2] plus, you can discuss random stuff having to do with H*R, which is cool. but the forum's in a different format, which confuses me.

whenever you have time. no rush

thanks, Homsarstrongbad150 21:06, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I am watching you. 8-[ Cornman, that's no place for a Qermaq warrior! Anyway, yes, the forum is a different realm than the wiki. I don't frequent it, so I don't have a lot to recommend aside from what the forum help itself provides. It is a separate site with a separate login, so it's a totally different animal, kinda like a jackal. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 08:09, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

just needed somewhere to try my sig
