[edit] Some Stew

Keep on keepin’ it on!

For your contributions these past few weeks, in particular your taking on both the task of adding links for things that need to be linked to and the task of transcribing Easter Eggs, I present you with this Iron cup of Brunswick Stew. -- Tom 15:32, 19 Mar 2005 (MST)

Whoa! And here I thought no one noticed me! Thank you very much. Clearly I need to spend even more time on the Wiki so I can earn a trophy full of Steak'ums. :) (BTW, I love typing and copying things. If there's anything that needs to be copied that I'm missing, let me know!) Aurora Szalinski 23:14, 19 Mar 2005 (MST)

I too would like to give you a belated "Good Jorb," for adding all the Places to toons. Keep up the pace! - Dr Haggis - Talk 02:13, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! Aurora the Homestar Coder 02:35, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I agree. You're both helpful, and very diplomatic. Keep up the good work. (I can't belive you got the brunswick stew! Oh well, at least I've got the pizza trophy...) Thunderbird 02:25, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks muchly! I think you deserve at least an iron cup of Brunswick stew for those fantastic Floppy Disk and Halloween Costume pages. Those are awesome! Aurora the Homestar Coder 02:37, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. That's what I generally try to do, think of cool pages to make that I can take my time on, not racing people for new transcrips. I really appreciate that btw. (I would, but I don't have the paitence for 'edit conflicts'. Grrr... Thunderbird 02:47, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Well, you do a great jorb. I try not to "race" people for transcripts, but I can do them really fast so sometimes I can't resist (like the last answering machine). ;) Aurora the Homestar Coder 03:53, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pay Plus Stuff

Hey, I've been using the H*R Wiki for a while to check updates to the site, and now I've recently decided to give editing some of the stubs a try. I just wanted to say I was amazed by how quickly you've started putting the new April Fool's Day page information up, and to say thanks for the hard work. :) JackoRougburn 1:25, 01 Apr 2005 (CST)

Thanks! It's just because I'm a fast typist (that's part of being a Homestar Coder ;) ) Aurora Szalinski 00:29, 1 Apr 2005 (MST)

Are you using a Dvorak keyboard or something? —woddfellow2| 08:30, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Nope, just regular ol' Qwerty. Aurora the Homestar Coder 00:02, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hello again, and thank you so much for telling me how to delete that page I made! It took me only about half an hour to screw up something... I'm rather proud of that.  ;) Anyway, thanks again for the help, and if I run into a problem again, I know who to ask. JackoRougburn 3:12, 01 Apr 2005 (CST)

No probalo! Here's a good page for that sort of stuff: MediaWiki User's Guide. And no worries about screwing something up -- it's a Wiki, someone will rapidly fix your mistakes :) Aurora Szalinski 02:14, 1 Apr 2005 (MST)

[edit] Quote sources

You should list the sources for those quotes. Most of them I recognize, but a few I do not.

That's why we have a search bar over there. ;) Aurora the Homestar Coder 01:44, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] sorry

Aurora, sorry I guess I don't know the etiquitte. You'll notice that what I did was strike out his text because he changed his vote below. I figured he just forgot to strike out his old vote, so I did that for him. If I had changed my vote in a similar manner, I wouldn't have minded someone doing similarly for me. Thanks for letting me know....--rsl12 17:11, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Oh, okay. I'm sorry I misunderstood; I thought you just changed his vote, and didn't notice his other vote below. No probalo! Aurora the Homestar Coder 22:53, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Email

Hi there Aurora. Is the email address you have set in your preferences correct? And if so, do you check that address regularly? Thanks. -- Tom 06:11, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It is a correct email, but not one I check regularly. I'll check it now, though... if you need a better email address, I could give you one. Aurora the Homestar Coder 06:57, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Addendum: Got the message. Aurora the Homestar Coder 07:00, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sysop

Just letting you know, you have been given sysop privileges. If you have any questions, never hesitate to ask. Thanks. -- Tom 12:28, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Excellent! Thanks muchly! *looks at new links at top of screen* Ooh, shiny! Aurora the Homestar Coder 14:19, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Oh, if you block someone for defacing something, you don't need to add them to the WikiTroll list. That's really just there to bring defacement to the sysops attention. Just providing a summary of their defacement in the "Reason" box on the block page is fine. Thanks. -- Tom 00:23, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Ah, okay. Wow, less work for me! Aurora the Homestar Coder 00:28, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Congratulations Aurora, you'll make an excellent Sysop! Thinking back, I can't belive you weren't nominated. If I had thouht of it, I would have nominated you myself. I hope you're not offended. Either way, you've been recognized, and are in. Now you can join the ranks of us folks! Thunderbird 02:38, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks again! I really wasn't expecting to get sysop power because I haven't been here very long, so I'm definately not offended... Sysop Commandos! Rock rock on! :) Aurora the Homestar Coder 02:40, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Actually, I'd considered nominating you myself... I eventually decided against it because I thought that the consensus would be that you were too new. Guess I was wrong. ;) --Jay (Talk) 02:46, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the thought anyway! (and congrats on you guys' sysophood, although I think I already said that... Snow globes for everyone!):) Aurora the Homestar Coder 03:54, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Troll blocking

An interesting conundrum: What happens when two sysops block the same user at the same time, but one blocks for 24 hours while the other blocks with an indefinite expiry... guess we're gonna find out, huh? --Jay (Talk) 17:05, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I think you blocked after me, so it will be indefinate. Aurora the Homestar Coder 17:05, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Probably, but I found it interesting that both are listed on the Ipblocklist. --Jay (Talk) 17:07, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Heh. Weird. Aurora the Homestar Coder 17:07, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
For two different definite time blocks, the lower one would take precedence. As for one with a definite time and one for indefinite, I have no idea. We could test it... -- Tom 19:47, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Main Page 22

"If you roll over the Store button several times, to make it grow, then roll over the Downloads button, you can still see the left edge of the Store button when Edgar pops up."
Why'd you remove it? It seems reasonable to me... It's true, TBC simply didn't make the edgarware box wide enough... --phlip 02:13, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

We don't put Flash glitches and tricks on the Wiki, sorry. Aurora the Homestar Coder 02:54, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I was under the impression that we just didn't put glitches caused by manipulation of the Flash software - for instance, pausing the Flash or viewing the .swf file. We include LOTS of Flash glitches as ordinary facts - there's even a subcategory of Fun Facts dedicated to just that. My two cents. --Jay (Talk) 05:37, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
You're right about that, actually, I was mistaken. I meant more that we don't usually put down things that involve "if you roll over this button, then roll over that button, etc. etc. it looks glitchy." There's usually one or more of these in every main page and it's not very exciting reading IMO. Aurora the Homestar Coder 08:05, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
