Welcome

Hey there, Homestar-winner, this is ACupOfCoffee, and on behalf of myself and the rest of the Welcoming Committee I'd like to welcome you to the Homestar Runner Wiki. If you've never contributed to a wiki-based project before, then it'd be worth your while to check out the MediaWiki User's Guide and our own Help:Editing page. I need to let you know that before you start contributing substantially, you really ought to read our HRWiki:Standards page so you don't waste your time adding content that will just wind up deleted or worse, get you blocked from editing. If you have any questions, try the HRWiki:FAQ, and if your question isn't answered there, post it at HRWiki talk:FAQ.

You've got your own user page, and you can put basically anything you want on it as long as it follows our HRWiki:User space policies. Another page you'll probably visit a lot is our community portal: The Stick. Remember, our goal here is a comprehensive Homestar Runner knowledge base. Oh, and don't forget to sign your posts on talk pages. Typing a string of 4 tildes (these little guys: "~") is all it takes. The system'll do the rest. I'm going to quit talking your ear off now and go do something productive.

Hope to see you around!

Show Preview

Just a tip for future reference for when you're messing with your user page: when you're editing, there is a "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button – if you use that, you can see what you've changed without saving the page, which is easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and it doesn't fill up Recent changes with your edits. --phlip TC 11:54, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

To answer the question on your userpage...

...it's from comic. I couldn't remember either, so I had to use Google to figure it out. Hope to see you around! Has Matt? (talk) 11:57, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Uhh....

Is this how you would post stuff on talk pages? I don't know if anyone reads other people's talk pages often but I didn't want to mess anyone else's up in case I did this wrong. I'll delete this if I did it wrong. Homestar-winner

Yes, that's exactly how you do it :-) Loafing 21:51, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Subpage

Hey there, Homestar-winner. Your subpage User:Homestar-winner/qod Archive was not conforming to the user space guidelines, and has therefore been deleted. Hope you understand! Keep on tranglin' Loafing 21:51, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Main Page Messages

Heylo, I noticed that you edit Main Page Messages sometimes. Did you already do that as an anonymous user before you created an account? Like this one right here? Just curious. (P.S.: I finally replied to your questionLoafing 11:53, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, that was my IP address or whatever. I guess you noticed that I deleted the rolled over section on the messages page this morning. But I just found out about the Homestar wedsite about a year ago so I hadn't seen many MPMs. I originally posted messages I found in pictures on the wiki but now I use the thing "The Paper" posted on the talk page for MPMs. You could also try using it. Homestar-winner 12:15, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
w00t! Well done for joining the wiki :-D Loafing 02:17, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Whoever saw my april fools gag post your name here:

  • Dr. Clash - yup, I saw it. Must've taken a long time to reverse all that. :P
Yeah! Almost all day! Homestar-Winner (talk)
  • TheThin - Me to. Did you use a program or website to do that? cause that would be hard.
Nope. I just retyped everything hitting the arrow that moves the cursor back a letter every time I type a letter so the next letter I type appears behind the previous one I typed. Homestar-Winner (talk)
Wow. TheThin 16:53, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Welcoming

Hey Homestar-Winner. Why don't you create a welcome notice. All you need to do is search this: User:Homestar-Winner/welcome and you will have your own welcome notice. For more information check out mine or Sam Fisher's. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

What things could I change to the standard welcome notice on one of my one? Homestar-Winner (talk) 17:51, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, you could do what I did, and that is copy the real welcome notice and add stuff to it and change the wording here and there... --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 17:55, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
I've started doing my own welcome page. I'm still working on it. When I want to post it would I post {{User:Homestar-winner/welcome}}? Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:34, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
No. It's {{subst:Homestar-winner/welcome}}. Otherwise, it's possible they could blank out your welcome page (or so I'm told...) --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 00:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
You want to put a {{1}} at the end of your welcoming notice. It represents the date and time. All you need to do is put {{User:Homestar-Winner/welcome|time and date here}} . That's all you need to do. Bye for now, User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

Feeding the trolls

Great job checking that vandalism earlier, but next time don't berate them directly. As this edit summary shows, it only encourages them. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 06:05, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry Acupofcoffee. It was my first time reverting vandalism and I was happy to help fix the wiki, but I also was annoyed that vandal guy. I'll just do the "rvv" thing next time. Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:17, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Userbox

I noticed how you took the userbox i made. I hope you enjoy it, and if you ever need any more, i'm right here.

-Zerlock1124

Right. Thanks. I was gunna tell you, but aftewr I put it up, I had to get off the computer. Homestar-Winner (talk) 08:40, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Tech

Spiralangus goes to Georgia Tech. Even if he did go to Virginia Tech, I think that suggesting that he put that userbox on his page is rather insensitive (especially one so irreverent). — It's dot com 20:23, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Danggit! I missread it!!!!!!! Homestar-Winner (talk) (also, i don't know what irrevaent means)
It means that the wording in that userbox is a far cry from the somber tone that would be appropriate after such a tragedy. — It's dot com 20:27, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Ooooooooohhhhhhh, ok. I won't offer that suggestion to any person who says they go to Virginia Tech! Homestar-Winner (talk)
So, are you going to revert your message on his page? — It's dot com 20:50, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
I replaced it with saying I was sorry for mistaking him for going to VT. Should i leave it like it is now, or just delete it? Homestar-Winner (talk)
Meh, you probably could have said that in an edit summary when you reverted your edit. Not sure I'd change it now, but whatever. Just try to be more careful in the future. — It's dot com 20:55, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Tip of the Day

The following discussion was moved from User talk:Homestar-winner/Tip of the Day before that page was deleted per HRWiki:User space
If anyone has seen the tip of the day I've made, could you say so here? I want to know if it's worth keeping it or not.
Sincerly,
Homestar-Winner (talk)
I saw it and chuckled at the Simpsons reference. That said, I wonder if there's the slightest relevance to H*R. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Hey there, Homestar-winner! Unfortunately, this page doesn't meet the requirements of a user subpage (see here) You're welcome to move it to your main user page, but I'll need to delete this subpage after you've had a chance to copy and paste what's currently on it. Thanks for understanding, Trey56 00:26, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, just like User_talk:Homestar-winner#SubpageLoafing 00:28, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
D'oh! Forgot! I've seen other peoples do thing like it before and I thought I could. I'll move it to my userpage Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry again Loafing.
Well, I put it on my user page (but I don't think I'll do tip of the days anymore.) Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for your cooperation; I'm about to delete them. Trey56 00:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
By the way, Homestar-winner, I noticed your message here — if you see any users with subpages that don't fit the requirements, go ahead and post a message on their talk page bringing it up. Or, if it's a more widespread issue (i.e., several different users have a type of subpage that you think shouldn't be allowed), bring it up over at HRWiki talk:User space. More than likely, those supages still exist only because nobody's noticed them yet, and any user (not just sysops) can and should help to make sure that pages on the wiki conform to policy. Anyway, hope that helps! Trey56 01:04, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Trey. Well, I just now noticed Addict 2006 still has an April Fools subpage up (it's out-dated anyway). Maybe someone could talk to him about that. Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

MVU

Hey there Homestar-Winner. I noticed you made good edits to pages. So I'd like to award (Drum roll...) The MVU. Take this. You deserve it. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

Heh, heh! Thanks Sam The Man! Since making and removing redirects is something any user can do, I like being able to improve the Wiki that way. Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
I'll be checking for your NES Trivia tomorrow by the way! Homestar-Winner (talk) 02:12, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
I just realized May 14th isn't until tomorrow. Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:06, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

NES Trivia today!

Feel free to answer my NES Trivia today Homestar-Winner. (Oh and by the way, do you enjoy the Simpsons at all?) User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

I tried answering it, but I'm not to good at those things. I could only find one answer. Also, I have recently started liking the Simsons when I bought the 4th season. My favorie episode is Marge vs. the Monorail. Homestar-Winner (talk) 22:01, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
I own Seasons 1-9 and that's all that are made so far. Did you hear the 400th episode is coming out this Sunday? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 00:14, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. I've heard. It's a parody of 24. I want to watch it. Are you gonna? Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:35, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Of course I'm going watch it. I'm even going to cancel everything I have for that episode! No I'm not. But I'm going to watch it. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 00:39, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it better be good. But right now I'm looking forward to the new toon. D'oh! When are TBC gonna add it? Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:43, 15 May 2007 (UTC) (I just said the last part so I could say "D'oh".)
What's your favorite Simpsons episode? Homestar-Winner (talk) 11:29, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Any Sideshow Bob episode I guess. He always cracks me up. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 11:32, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I haven't seen Slidesow Bob episodes. Ive seen Slideshow Mel, but he's appeared often-er than Bob has I bet. I like episodes that Bart prank calls Moe. I've only seen one of those episodes though (there were two prank calls in the episode: Amanda Hugginkiss and Ivana Tinkle). Homestar-Winner (talk) 19:37, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Do you watch American Idol? If you do, did you see Homer's intro to it tonight? Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:05, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Signature color

Hey there, Homestar-winner. Have you ever played the fortune cookie game? If you click on the right cookie, you might find some helpful advice regarding your signature (or just follow that link and look near the bottom of the list). Cheers! — It's dot com 22:38, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking about that. I'll chage it soon. Also, I think the way it's set up looks a bit too much like how Thunderbird's sig is. Nevermind the Bullucks! Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:10, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Dot Com, somethings wrong with my sig

and I don't know what. My time stamp appears in that dotted box thing now. Can you fix it? Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:21, 15 May 2007 (UTC) Trey fixed it I guess but it doesn't seem fixed. Does anyone else know what's wrong? Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:26, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

There were some unmatched , , and <small> tags — it should be okay now. Trey56 00:28, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
and it is. I just spoke too soon I guess. You fixed it the second time. Thanks! Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:29, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

My user name isn't stupid!

I just realized that someone else has my user name at strongfans.com! I saw that when I Googled "Homestar-winner". Homestar-Winner (talk) 21:18, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

First, I would like to say 2 things. First, CONGRATULATIONS on 1000 page visits. Second, you are not allowed to put your real email address on your talk and userpage. Is it Where's The Cheat? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man

No. And sorry for the delay to answer. Homestar-Winner (talk) 17:09, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Hmm... A Decemberween Pageant? Dr. Clash 01:34, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I got it!

Is it senior prom??? This is slipknot6477

About the answer to this question, I could not find the answer. I thought the answer was Malloween Commercial because I thought I had seen a fun fact saying that toon had the most featured Quote of the Weeks, but when I looked back on the toon's page, there was no fact saying that. Unless someone can find proof of a toon having the most featured quotes, don't bother answering that question. I might post a new question tomorrow if I feel like it. Sorry everyone. New Question of the Week

sb_email 22 and part-time job. Has Matt? (talk) 12:51, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

QOTW

Not to be confused with quote of the week. Anyway, I'm guessing the "And that's why I like to scroll, with scroll buttons" one from replacement? Unless you're talking about a DVD menu, in which case it would be strongbad_email.exe Disc 5 where he got the music from the intro? --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 22:05, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

No. Sorry about not being specific enough, though. I'll make the question more specific and you might could answer again! Homestar-Winner (talk)

you know how to upload images

i was wonderin' if you could upload spin an' say on to games menu and secret pages. thanks if you do it.

Sorry, Slip-guy. I was out bowling. Do you mean if I can put the image that is currently on Who Said What Now? (this one) or the image that used to be on Who Said What Now? (this one) on the Games and Secret Pages page? And where do you want me to put them? Homestar-Winner (talk) 19:08, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

the one that isnt who said what?. and on secret pages. it will say it is already there, but it wont load. if you do, you will be a hero, and solve the biggest problem on hrwiki.

It says on the image's page that no pages link to it (under links) that no pages are using the image. I also looked all over the Secret Pages page, and I don't see where anyone has tried to put the image on the page. So unless you can find some proof that the image is on the page, I think you are mistaken. Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:05, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

i mean the page. if you go under edit, it will say somebody wrote sum stuff on it. if u no how 2 fix it, plz do so.

Hi. Sorry, for reasons that cannot at present be disclosed to the general public, there won't be any mention of that particular old game by this wiki. I understand that in any other situation it would be the correct and smart thing to do. Please trust me that, in this particular case, it would be a wrong and bad thing to do. In time, more information may be freely available (and I hope so, as I don't have every fact myself) but for now we need to trust that this is the correct course of action. I hope this is clear enough. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

HRRQOFT Answer

Easy. Baby Strong Bad was playing the Atari 2600 game, Adventure, and he called the enemy "that freakin' duck". (The enemy in question would be the Atari Dragon from Adventure, which looks like a duck). Oh, and the email was highschool. – The Chort 19:36, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry TC. That question was already answered by Kanjiro. I just keep the question up after someone guesses it. You were right though. Homestar-Winner (talk) 19:46, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Kanjiro, but I want specifically the # of the code so it looks exactly the same. I could just guess until I get it right... Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:06, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
I think it's 800080, or you can try google, but i think your looking for the purple in one of the 16 basic codes.--Kanjiro talk 01:15, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, here's a simple step-by-step way to do it.

  1. Open up MS Paint and Calculator
  2. Switch Calculator to Scientific (View > Scientific).
  3. Go to Edit Colors in Paint (Colors > Edit colors...).
  4. Click Define custom colors.
  5. Move the crosshair and shade selector (the colored bar with an arrow pointing to it; adjust by clicking the arrow and holding and sliding it up and down) until you find your desired color.
  6. By then, you should have a readout on the bottom of the window saying something similar to:
    Red: 118
    Green: 17
    Blue: 151
Go to Calculator and punch in the number next to red, and then click hex. You'll get two numbers, a number and a letter, or two letters. Go to your sig and type #what it said (like "#76" that's what I got) where it says "purple"
  7. Repeat 6 for green and blue, but instead of typing "#76#11#97", type "#761197".
  8. You're done! In my example, it would come out like this: Homestar-winner (talk)

Hope this helps! --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 01:31, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, you ARE going to want #800080. Don't bother with this. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 01:33, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
I changed it. Thanks for the help Kanjiro (and to a lesser extent, Super Martyo). Homestar-Winner (talk) 01:38, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Question

Is it gold rush from technology? That was like the oldest game there.--Kanjiro talk 18:20, 15 July 2007 (UTC) Or maybe it's lunar lander.--Kanjiro talk 18:23, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Neither of them are right. Just because they are old games doesn't mean that SB didn't like them.

Death track?--Kanjiro talk 18:29, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry again, no. Are you just guessing? You can find the answer if you see this page. Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:31, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

I am looking there but there are a lot of old games there and i don't know why strong bad wouldn't like them, is it Thexder?--Kanjiro talk 18:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... do you mean he wouldn't like it because you learn? Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:41, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes!--Kanjiro talk 18:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Hmmmmmmm... good answer. I was actually going for Seicross because Strong Bad wrote (suckcross) underneath it, but that's a good answer. I'll count that! Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:45, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Does that mean I'm right?--Kanjiro talk 18:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Yep! Good job! Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Cool!!! Man, This sure is a long section for a question of the week, that, and there are only two people talking.--Kanjiro talk 18:50, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Need more help

Hey there.

Thanks for helping me with my sig, but I have another question: How do I make the picture in my sig smaller, but still have it link to my talkpage? I ask this because I was recently informed that my sig is too long by wiki standards. I don't want to remove the picture, and I don't want to change the text in my sig back to the default fort. If I make the text any smaller, it would become unreadable. Respond back on my talkpage.

Thanks,
Homestarmy Commando1

Question

The answer to your question is the elephant man, given to strong sad, by coach z, in a folky tale.--Kanjiro talk 17:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

You're right! And this is your third correct answer in a row! Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:08, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Cool, do i get some sort of award or something, now that i think about it, i have won every homestar runner related question thing any person i know has done.--Kanjiro talk 18:11, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, no different award than before, but have you tried answering one of Trey56's NES Endings Trivia Challenge of the week? Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:16, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
No, but those aren't homestar runner related.--Kanjiro talk 18:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, somewhat, because you have to find a reference to the game in one of the homestarrunner.com toons (or sbemails). Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Ya, but i don't play video games that much, so i wouldn't know most of them.--Kanjiro talk 18:24, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, me neither. Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Question

After finishing her marshmallow, Marzipan almost exactly quotes an Archie Comics cover where Archie and Veronica are exiting a fancy restaurant. Veronica tells Archie she enjoyed her lobster, then asks him, "How was your hot dog?"- from the toon date night? Am i right?--Kanjiro talk 18:04, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay, okay. You got another one. That's 4 in a row. Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
C'mon man, can i get some award, 4 in a row is alot, and i'm just going to keep answering them.--Kanjiro talk 18:46, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Okay, for doing so great at answering my HRRQOTW, I present you with this award:

this user won the "kanjiro got a lot of quesitons of the week right" award

Well, seriously, I guess you do deserve some type of good reward (other than that crap I typed up in about 2 seconds). I'll make you a userbox er something. Check back in a few minutes. Eat a steak, Homestar-Winner (talk) 18:56, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

SBMail Champion

For the redirections...good job!

Hi! Awexome work with redirecting all those SBMails, that must have a long time. Boring Day Huh? Well you win...the Pewter Van Buren award! Keep it up! --~ SlipStream 03:31, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah. And just by the way, at the time I thought stealing 173 from you would be funny, but now I feel really bad about it. I'm sorry. — Defender1031*Talk 03:32, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
No prob, Bob. And thanks Slipstream! Homestar-Winner (talk) 04:29, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh! I just realised that only Kookyman can give the Van Buren award, never mind, it's now a cup of Bronswick stew! Hope you like stew!--~ SlipStream 05:37, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Eat a steak?

I've noticed you like the term "Eat a steak" ...just sayin'......cause I'm bored...--Super!SantanaDuper! 22:32, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I say it a lot. It's one of my favorite Strong Bad quotes. I should add it to my favorite quotes list. Eat a steak (I bet you knew I would end it with that), Homestar-Winner (talk) 22:46, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Correct. 5 thymes in a row now. Homestar-Winner (talk) 03:16, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Ha Ha Ha! Kanjiro strikes again! I'm sad to say, next week i probably won't be able to answer it, i'm going to Disney land. And also, your questions are way too easy, and please, PLEASE, try to answer my question of the week. I've done yours for 5 weeks in a row, can you try to do mine. It's been 5 days now, and i've even given you peoples a hint! Only one person has tried, and it wasn't even close. In fact, if you don't get it on your first try, I'll give you another hint.--Kanjiro talk 03:32, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
You have a question? And I'll try to make mine harder. Homestar-Winner (talk) 14:21, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

In looking old, The Cheat's remix of sbemails has one screen where there are four Strong Bads typing in red, yellow, green and blue. --Kanjiro talk 17:22, 16 August 2007 (UTC). I mean, DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 17:22, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, i noticed you made mike a birthday message on irf's talk page... Can you tell me how to make one? Please? --Kanjiro talk 00:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I Noticed

I noticed you were gone. I missed you, and missed answering your questions...--Kanjiro talk 22:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Kanjiro! You seem to make lots of posts on this here talk page, not that that's a bad thing, 'cause I like it :-). And there's still an unanswered question, but you need to have something like Greasemonkey installed. Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm having problems downloading it, and i don't really care, just wondering, do you like DND?--Kanjiro talk 14:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I've never played it, but beware the rule about people having conversations unrelated to Homestar Runner. Homestar-Winner (talk) 00:00, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
I know, I know. If you want to help though, return to my fanstuff talk page. There will be a section there called RE: DND stuff. Meet me there. I wish you best of luck my son... --Kanjiro talk 02:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
