The GHIIQ

Hey, EL, I just wanted to say that the Hebrew H*R wiki page is the coolest thing ever. I wish I could help, but I can't read or write Hebrew! =) single deuce 23:53, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Why thank you! (תודה רבה לך in Hebrew) I was wishing for some feedback for quite some time now. Saying that something I did is the coolest thing ever can realy boost up your day. Tahnks! E.L. Cool 04:57, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I agree. The Hebrew Everybody Everybody page is awesome! I took your suggestion to fix a couple of spelling and grammar items I found on your user page. Looking at this page's history, I don't think anyone's ever told you welcome, so... Welcome! — It's dot com 05:16, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Wow! Thank you very much for all the trouble. As it says, I wrote it in 4am or something, so I wasn't as clear as now. If you know anyone who can contribute to Project GHIIQ, can you please tell them about it? E.L. Cool 05:59, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Let's see, about what time is it where you are now? ... 9:30 a.m. or so? I'm pushing 1:30 a.m. here. I would be happy to tell others about GHIIQ; unfortunately, I don't know anyone who would benefit from my telling them. Not a whole lot people fluent in Hebrew around my neck of the woods. — It's dot com 06:30, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Well.. You could alweys learn it by yourself :) E.L. Cool 06:40, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Project GHIIQ is looking good! You are doing Homestar Runner a good service! Keep it up! -BazookaJoe 13:29, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I like all the positive feedback that I get. Hope some of it is from Hebrew speaking people :P Elcool (talk)(contribs)
I knows how to read hebrew, but only with vowels, and my vocabulary is limited. Rogue Leader / (my talk)
Well, practice makes perfect, you know... Elcool (talk)(contribs)
I know how to read & speak hebrew a little bit, but I'm still in hebrew school!!--bkmlb
Hebrew school, as in Tora school? or just the language? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:49, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I think that he means torah school for his synagogue. I go to somehting like that. Rogue Leader / (my talk)
I would like to say that that sucks, but... I won't. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:23, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Sig

Hey E.L. Cool. How's it goin'? I moved the tag inside the link brackets on your signature. For some reason, it was causing numbered lists to display incorrectly. Also, see this discussion about using versus . — It's dot com 15:56, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

While we're on the subject, you might consider adjusting which part of your signature links where. I keep clicking on "Cool" trying to get to your userpage, but instead I get your contributions. Or is that what you intended? — It's dot com 20:43, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
OK, I changed it. It is nicer that the longer part of it (i.e.: "Cool") would be my Userpage. Elcool (talk)(contribs)

Signing your sig

I noticed that you mistyped you signature on a STUFF page, which made me wonder whether you type it out manually every time you sign your name. If so, I'd like to give you a helpful hint:

 • Go to preferences at the top of the page.
 • Under the "User data" tab where it reads "Your nickname (for signatures)", enter the link to your sig template just like your normally sign it, i.e. "{{User:E.L. Cool/sig}}".
 • Be sure that "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" is checked.
 • Then, you can simply type "~~~~" on talk pages and "~~~" on STUFF pages.

I hope this is useful to you. — It's dot com 20:08, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Wow! Thanks. When I tried it myself I didn't know about "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" thingy that mde my sig all strage-like. going to do it right now. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:35, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)

sbemail redirects

Was there any consensus to make "sbemail" redirect pages? Every time such pages have been made in the past, they were promptly DELETED!! --Jay (Gobble) 06:40, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I dunno, did you check this discussion? — It's dot com 07:31, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
There was one here. It's dot com asked for reasones why we shouldn't and no repley in 9 days. Why is it so bad? Sometimes when I don't remember the name of the email but know the number, it's easier to just write it in the URL bar and get redirected to the email itself. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:36, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
In addition, a user unfamiliar with the wiki would also be likely to try to type the sbemail number in directly. — It's dot com 07:40, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I suppose that my #1 concern was that redirects like these were made in the past and then deleted by The Paper. --Jay (Gobble) 08:14, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I'm not saying the what The Paper did is wrong, but he gave any reasones for the deletions? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:35, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)

(This discussion continued at Talk:Strong Bad Email.)

TGS Other Costumes

Hey, great jorb on adding Teen Girl Squad to the Other Costumes page, but you missed out the costume Cheerleader wore near the beginning of Issue 8. You know, the one with the derby, sunglasses, moustache, tie, and cigar when she said "No yous guys!" The Chort 10:51, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. Good job. —BazookaJoe 10:53, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Hey, missed that. And thanks! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:17, 20 Aug 2005 (UTC)

uhmm

Why did you just move sites that didn't exist and move them to pages that did???– Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 10:05, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

It was a troll, not me. I moved them back to the right palce. Chack out this post in Da Basement. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:10, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, i just sya you were moving them back to normal. So sorry. – Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 10:11, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)
No problam. With all the stuff thats going on the recent changes it's hard to keep track on everything in here wiki. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:12, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Whoa

Mr. Box's KoT edit didn't show up on Recent Changes (though I see it on his Contributions page). How'd that one happen? --Jay (Gobble) 17:26, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I noticed that, too. The edit did happen during the several-minute site freeze. So something must have glitched. Props to E.L. Cool for reverting that. —BazookaJoe 17:28, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Well, thanks. It was just on my watchlist, nothing special. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:34, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Human Spellchecker

I don't want to be rude, so I'm double-checking: I CAN correct spelling and grammar mistakes I notice, right? Oh, and I think it's cool how you're into H*R and in Israel. It is becoming global, isn't it? --Ookelaylay 01:04, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, go right ahead, no problem. I usually Google certain words I'm not sure of, but one of them always slips my mind. And yeah, it is becoming global. Yesterday I went with my friends to the Israeli comics-con (We have only one.. :( ) and I'm going to chack if one of the comic book shopes that had a booth there, have any merch, because the shipping prices in the site are insane! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:05, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Sewiously! I couldn't convince my mom to take me to a comic con, so... I didn't get any merchandise. Boo... And everybody beat me to fixing your spelling. Boo again... --Ookelaylay 17:21, 31 Aug 2005 (UTC)

English Language

Hey, E.L. Cool. I want to give you a little recognition on how hard you try to grasp the English language. Let me tell you, as a native speaker, English is one of the hardest languages to learn when it isn't your first. Sometimes English doesn't even make sense to me. It's a very difficult language, because rules are broken all the time. You are definitely doing a good job with English, and I hope our fixes help you understand it better. By the way, Project GHIIQ is awesome! —BazookaJoe 04:33, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hi man, thanks for the good words. My mom is an English teacher, so we talk it all the time. The problem is that writing is not something I do everyday. And believe me, Hebrew is alot more crazy and without rules (Or too much of them) than English. every object is either male or female, or both. And the numbering system is insane! From 1 to 11 female numbers are used for males and vise-verse and from 12 to 100 (If I remember correctly) it's the other way around. We have seven kinds of verbs and a full set of reading marks (We almost never use vowels). Yeah, GHIIQ is awesome. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 13:57, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Whoa. That is crazy. —BazookaJoe 15:15, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Woah. Remind me to stick with Spanish. --Ookelaylay 21:34, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
The only thing that makes me want to learn how to speak Hebrew, is that you write from right to left, which would be alot easier for a lefty like me. In any case, kudos for GHIIQ. Thunderbird 21:37, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Racing up the charts: מַזָּל טוֹב!

And Coming In At Number 31... !!!הומסטאר ראנר
Congratulations, E.L. Cool, on now reaching number 31 for longest Hebrew Wiki page! It took me a bit of time to navigate a Hebrew Wiki, since I don't read or speak it, but it was well worth it to find your place on the charts. At this rate, you'll be in the top 25 in no time. רַעַםצִפּוֹר <--- (My attempt at a Hebrew 'Thunderbird', or in Hebrew direction, 'Bird Thunder'. It was a bit complex when the curser kept switching direction back and forth)
Wow! I don't know what to say. Just to let you know where I am, Homestar is between Sheep and Darth Vader. The article was once as high as 27, but other article became longer. As of now H Star is longer than: Josef Stalin, History of the Middle East, Herod the Great, Coral, Chess, The Soviet Union and much more! But this is mainly because the characters aren't splet up like in the English Wikipedia. Lastly, about your name. In Hebrew, the adjectives come after the noun just like you wrote Bird Thunder, but you still wrote it the other way around in your sig. It should be צִפּוֹר רַעַם (Tzipor Raam). If you want it so sound as cool as Thunderbird, get rid of the double R - צִפּוֹרַעַם (Tziporaam). And yeah, מַזָּל טוֹב is congratulations (Mazal tov) in Hebrew. א.ל. קול 09:18, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Sweet, thanks! And here's a link so anybody can check it's chart progress. Just look for the word that looks the same as number 31 in the picture. צִפּוֹרַעַם

An update! Homestar just reached 20th. just above Microsoft and Yitzhak Shamir. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:15, 11 Sep 2005 (UTC) (Gone to see Law and Order)

Hebrew Writing

How do you write in hebrew on this wiki?--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 17:21, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

With the services of my trusty, somewhat dusty, electronic light-keyboard input high-tech expensive device! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:33, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
No not that, I mean converting english type into hebrew type.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 18:19, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
By swiching the language with Shift+Alt. If you have more than one language installed, those keys will cycle thrue them. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:44, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Oh! Thanks!--בנימין (that's my hebrew name!)--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 20:09, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I just searched for an English - Hebrew translating website (this one is excellent), then just cut and pasted the Hebrew counterparts of english words. Thunderbird 21:26, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Could you translate Pertmywert for me???– Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 21:38, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Well, I could, if I knew what Pertmywert is... Elcool (talk)(contribs) 03:54, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hey, E.L.! I'm extremely honored you translated "The Smoking Monkey" into Hebrew! I can't read Hebrew, of course, but regardless I'm very impressed. Thank you! THE SMOKING MONKEY 01:53, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
No sweat! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 03:54, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Well Pertmywert is my username and has come from the animal turtle.– Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 05:45, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm.. I don't get it. Is it a name of a turtle, or a name for the animal turtle in general? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:13, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I don't quite get it either, and english is my first language. I suppose at the very least, you could translate the sounds so that if you read the Hebrew word outloud you would say 'pertmywert'. Thunderbird 08:20, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Ok. Done and done. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:25, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Pertmywert is a name of a Turtle.– Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 09:41, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Good for him (גבר גבר). I added your name. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:44, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Wait so is גבר גבר turtle or somehting. What does it mean??? – Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 22:05, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
פרטמייוורט This is your Hebrew sig. Don't mind the גבר גבר. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:27, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Holy crap. Thanks E.L. Cool Dude. פרטמייוורט
You're welcome, dude. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:04, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Other sigs

04:14, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC) זה נקודה קום — Hey, that's pretty cool!
04:21, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC) Elcool (talk)(contribs) Thanks, man! I know I was going to do just users with those carzy sigs, But you and BazookaJoe are so awesome, you just had to be there.
04:25, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC) זה נקודה קום — I appreciate that. Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised to find my name in the list.

Image patrol

Hey Cool. Don't forget to mark as patrolled this flood of image captions you're doing. Maybe you could patrol Coder's and she could patrol yours. Just a thought. I'd help you, but I'm off to work. — זה נקודה קום

I'd like to do that, but does it realy metter? It would take me twice as much time to do so. I know it's a real flood of edits, but my goal is to clean up as much images as possible in as little time that I can. Petroling each and every one would take forever! In normal case, changes need to be patroled, but this is fast editing. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:59, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Every change has to be patrolled. These especially should be patrolled, so that they can be hidden (thus revealing the regular edits). You could patrol them in chunks of 20 or so as you're going. If I have time later, I'll help you. — It's dot com 17:07, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Sababa. Patrolled all edit on the main recent changes page. The rest, is up to G.. Someone else. every 20 edits, I'll patrol mine. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:25, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I've been working on this off and on today. I got depressed when I counted and there were like 843 unpatrolled edits. *sigh* — It's dot com 05:33, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'll say, let bygones be bygones, and leave all of those past changes. From now on, I'll patrol my edit and the picture edits. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:10, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
There is exactly zero point to demanding that people patrol their own edits. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 07:20, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Nobody is demanding anything, so you don't have to yell. Just a few days ago, however, we had it down to zero unpatrolled edits. Since you two are the ones who flooded the recent changes with all these image edits, I thought it only fair that you guys help patrol them. I myself offered to help, and probably patrolled close to a hundred before getting weary. This is a long project, but it needs doing and therefore will get done. By the way, I actually don't normally patrol my own edits unless they are very minor. I like to have someone checking to make sure I didn't mess up something accidentally. That's why I originally suggested you two check each other's edits. — It's dot com 07:32, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't mean to yell, I meant emphasis *blush* OK then, I see what you were saying. *runs away* Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 15:31, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Aw, don't run away, Amanda. Anydangways, I kinda got the bug last night, and I decided to see just how many edits I could patrol before I keeled over from sheer exhaustion. Of the 800 or so edits that were still outstanding when I started, I marked at least 625 of them as patrolled, including all of the aforementioned images up to that point. *passes out* — It's dot com 16:35, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I didn't leave the discussion. Just have nothing to add to it. I was going to criticize the patrol system, but it would be to no use when you already explained it's importance above. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:47, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
The main problem with the patrol system is when there's a new page or a lot of minor edits. In each of these cases, it floods the recent changes. It would be nice if there was a way to "mass patrol" things like that, but at least I did figure out a method to rapidly do the ones I patrolled, so no worries. At any rate, you gotta do the best you can. (And work out twice a day. Don't ask me why I said it. Because I already forgot.) — It's dot com 16:57, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Wow, don't kill yourself, man. I patrolled like 25 of those image edits before my eyes rang up "NO SALE." You should at least get a trophy full of Steak-Ums for that insane effort. THE SMOKING MONKEY 17:03, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)
