A familiar word

Hey there! I think it's awesome that you referred to Stu as an "Übergeek". I kid you not: I am wearing a T-shirt that has that exact word on it right now. (A friend gave it to me a couple years ago as a graduation present, saying it was the perfect T-shirt for me. And so it is.) Heimstern Läufer 08:46, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Being reffered to as "Übergeek" is something to take pride in. I choose this particular word after a conversation I had with the Stu about his job. If you want, you can ask him with what's his salary consists of. You'll be surprised. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:05, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Taking the time to umlaut "uber" definitely classifies both of you as such. ^-^ --DorianGray
Let me tell you, Dorian, seeing German words without proper umlauts is definitely in my bottom 10. Especially if it's my name. Seeing "Heimstern Laufer" just makes me want to swear a lot of bad cusses in German... OK, that was a bit übertrieben. Talk atcha later! Heimstern Läufer 07:04, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, I also have a freind who likes German (He doesn't speak any, but it comes naturaly to those who study World War II), and if he cought me not using a proper amlaute... ;) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:14, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Wow. Brilliant, sheer brilliance. Thunderbird 07:42, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Why, thank you senator! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:00, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Heimstern's weapon!

YOUR CUPCAKE A SPLODE!

So what's now? No one gets cupcakes? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:27, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I don't know. I just felt like running with references to funny translations and parodies thereof, so I make your cupcake a splode. I was just having fun. Keep having as many cupcakes as you want.
P.S.: This has been one of the funniest discussions I've been in for a while. And your rewrite of the Zero Wing introduction was very funny. Heimstern Läufer 07:41, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
No, thank you for making 4 sections on my talk page all green and purple! It feels like... Like... Winter-een-mas! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:48, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Chainmail

Ha ha, if you want to know about chain mail, get a myspace account. There's a part of it called a bulletin board, and all thats up there is chain mail. DBK! 19:18, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

What I asked for, is for someone who actualy practice the making of chainmail. I have enough resources on the interwebs for that kind of stuff. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:55, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Interestingly enough, I used to know someone who liked to make chain mail. On a very amateur level, mind you, but he definitely did make it. He allowed me to wear his chain mail glove several times. quite an experience! But I haven't seen him in about five years, so it doesn't help you too much, I suppose. Still, I thought you'd be interested to hear about it. Heimstern Läufer 07:01, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, thanks anyway. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:11, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I have a photo of when I went to Medieval Times, it's of somebody making chainmail, but it's kinda hard to see because of the flash. D'ya want it? --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
What I really need now is a picture af a Japanese chain shirt, or a worrior dressed in one. Google had nothing. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, okay then. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

Counting Contributions

Hey there, Elcool. I'm just wondering, how do you know how many contributions you made on the Wiki? Is there something somewhere that updates whenever you make an edit, or do you have to count the edits one by one? Has Matt? (talk) 00:48, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Good question. I know every user have a contributions page (like yours) but counting it can be tricky. I think it was Lapper who showed me how to do it and it's not that hard. [1] See that number at the end of the URL? This indecates how many edits are shown on the page. On the page itself you can see the line that says:
(Latest | Earliest) View (previous 500) (next 500) (20 | 50 | 100 | 250 | 500).
Just rise the number on the URL to how many edits you think you have. If you can click the link (next X) you edited more then the number you chose. If you can't then you edited less. Just play with it a bit untill you know about how much edits you've made. Have fun! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 00:59, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, ok. Thanks! I was thinking it would be something like that. Has Matt? (talk) 01:08, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
You're weclome! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 01:12, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I do too. It's easier to count them by just rounding down to the nearest 500, and just checking every now and then to see how many 500's you can advance by. But to count exactly the right number it's easiest to count the larger numbers first, and when you can't count by them, just keep moving down the line. (As opposed to counting 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, etc). This way you have: 5 500's, 3 100's, 1 50, 2 20's, and the remainder of 8, for a grand total of 2898 edits thusfar. Keep up the good work. Thunderbird 08:34, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
There are many ways to play with those numbers. And these are two of them (Ohh! There's two of them!) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:36, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
DOUBLE EDIT CONFLICT'D!: (Once by comment, once by archiving) Alright, I forgot to mention, it was alot easier to check with the previous version of MediaWiki. When you got to the end of the list it would tell you what number edit the list was starting with, so you could be accurate within 20 without even having to count. I'm not sure why they took that feature out... In any case, now you gotta put a bit more brainpower into counting them. Thunderbird 08:41, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for the conflict there. Yeah, that's weird. Maybe try to contact the people at MediaWiki to add a contrib counter on the next version. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:49, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Good luck with class

Good luck with class! --Stux 05:54, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Amen to that. I feel for yah, buddy. In other news, I had a curious type question. Do you have like three different mailing addresses, one for english, one for Hebrew, and one for arabic or something? I dunno, that question just kinda flashed into my head the other day, and it's been bugging me ever since. Thunderbird 09:18, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't get the question. Are you talking about a mailbox for mail written in English, one for mail written in Hebrew and so on; or that I have three addresses in which you can sand mail to, one address in each language? In both cases the answer is no. I have one address for all mail. You can write it in any language you want and it still be the same. I think I emailed you mine, no? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:43, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I should have been clearer. What I meant was that what if your street name was something like "Thomas Street" or something? How would you translate a street name that isn't a word/doesn't have a hebrew translation into hebrew? Does your street name have like three different translations? And if your street name was a word that you could translate, like "Potato Salad St", would you translate it Phonetically or LiteralLy? It's hard to quite explain what I'm getting at, but hopefully I succeded this time. Because I'm pretty sure that if somebody tried to write my address out in Korean or something, it would never arrive. It's purely a curiosity-type question. Thunderbird 15:34, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Interesting question. Actually, the street name in English is a phonetic translation of the Hebrew name, not the litteral one. We all know that the capital of Israel is Jerusalem (ירושלים), but the street named after the city is written in the phonetic way: Yerushalaim St.. My street name will litteraly translated into The Hebrew Platoon St., but the sign will read HaGdud HaIvry St.. Does this answer your question? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:59, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I suppose so. I'm just glad it's all english here, even if it is "offically bi-lingual". Thunderbird 21:56, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

1D

About this edit, there is actually such a thing as one dimension! Because there is only one dimension (length), width and height don't exist in this dimension at all! As a result, the world is just one straight line. Everything that exists in this world is about the size of a small dot. They can only go left or right along the line. They can't jump or go past each other so if someone is in front of you, you get stuck! Weird, huh? – The Chort 17:15, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

You can say that again, but I already know that, thank you very much. What I was thinking, is that nothing can be 1D in the cartoon. If you can see it, then it's atleast 2D. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
That's right. 1D can't even exist in this dimension! If we draw a line, it still has a width so it is not truly 1D. – The Chort 17:27, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Correct, but answer me this? How do you know that there aren't a whole bunch of invisable, undetectable, 0-1D objects around us? We can't see then even with the most powerfull of microscope. Does that mean they don't exist? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:42, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
You have a point. I was just thinking logically. Perhaps there are 4D, 5D or even 6D objects everywhere around us! Somehow. The Chort 19:33, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Well that depends on your definition of a dimension. Some say that dimension isn't limited to tangible objects, and that we live our lives traveling in the 4th Dimension: Time. Then add to that the cyberspace dimension, the electrical dimension, and the cupcake dimension, and we've got quite a web of demenshi in our world. Thunderbird 23:34, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
So are you saying that gool ol' Heimstern is from the cupcake dimension? He seem to have a neverending supply of them. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:41, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi E.l.Cool! what's up? I just wanted to let you know, you gotta be careful when reverting page move trolls: the page you moved to was orginally called The Brothers Chaps and not The Brothers Chap. We cannot move it back without and admin to do it. Oh and good morning! --Stux 15:32, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
