They're GIFs(eggs) that are replaced with different GIFs(birds,dinosaurs,dragons,etc.) on a certain date.
when they hatch i replace them with the new GIF

- Eguy, one quick thing: the image you're having people put on their talk pages, Image:Yoshi Egg.GIF, is a personal image of another user. So, if you're planning to "hatch it" (i.e., upload a new version on April 15), you should re-upload the original file now under a new name, claim it as your personal image, and "hatch" that one instead when April 15 comes around. - It's okay. I didn't realize he was your brother, so I can see why you thought it'd be okay (and I notice that you reverted it immediately afterwards). Userboxes
