Using Show Preview

Hello, and thanks for contributing to the HRWiki. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep recent changes and page histories from being flooded. Thanks.  Loafing 03:01, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Welcoming

Heads up: when you welcome someone it's much more helpful if you link to all the pages you mention. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 05:37, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Adding a signature

Hey, and welcome again to the Homestar Runner Wiki! I noticed you sign a talk page, and I thought it might be helpful to mention that there's really cool shortcut for signing pages. If you want to sign your name with a timestamp (standard for most talk pages), just type four tildes: ~~~~. In some cases (like STUFF voting) you may want to just sign your name without the timestamp. In this case, use three tildes: ~~~. Again, welcome, and happy editing! A couple things

Hey Flamer, I need to tell you a couple things. First, please don't leave messages like this on people's talk pages. If people want to know how to make userboxes, they can ask, and leaving the same message on multiple users' talk pages is generally considered spam. Second, I see you've been signing as "Austio". Please note that HRWiki:Signature says you must sign with your username or something that suggests your username. If you want to be called "Austio", you can request a username change here. Thank you. Vandalism

Flamer8965: Your edit to Help:Editing here was defacement. Such unconstructive edits are considered vandalism, and if you do it again, you will be blocked from editing. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Heimstern Läufer 04:44, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Talk page

Your recent edit to User talk:DJ Solerus ([1]) was not necessary. For one, that user has been inactive for ten months. Additionally, talk pags are for wiki-related discussion, not for idle conversation. Try to keep your talk page edits more productive in the future. — Lapper (talk) 05:43, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Userpage edits

Flamer, I noticed on Recent Changes (the link's in the left column) that three-quarters of the edits made in the last hour are you tweaking your user page. I don't want to make you think your user page is unimportant. But this is a bit much.

I see someone has already informed you about Show Preview. You have been shown this, and choose not to use it. As a result, we get a "flood" of your edits in that list.

This wiki is primarily for documenting Homestar Runner, not meeting and greeting. I'd ask you to please begin utilizing the Show Preview function instead of constantly editing your User page, and to think about why you are here and how you can truly contribute to this wiki. Please think about this. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 07:03, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Sockpuppetry

Flame8965, the IP address that you have been connected to whilst editing under "Flamer8965" is identical to the IP address that the user "Cheat Man" has been editing under. Subsequently, we are assuming that you are editing under both of these accounts; intentionally acting as two separate people. This is strictly against policy, and if you do not respond with an explanation as well as which account you will be editing under in the future, we can and will block both of these accounts from editing. — Lapper (talk) 01:58, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
