Don't take my name seriously

I mean it. I'm not that kind of an addict. What I mean is, I don't like drugs. It's just certain types of video games and anime. Or in this case, video games and japanese cartoons. --Addict 2006 23:02, 18 January 2007 (UTC) and 04:11, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Umm, nothing to do here

I really don't think there's anything to do around these parts lately. I mean, I could just wake up early and make a stub for that upcoming SBEmail on that day, or make drafts on the Weeklies... I don't know. --Addict 2006 06:28, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, The Brothers Chaps are coming off of a monthlong vacation, so there has been a lot less going on here. There should be quite a bit to do on Monday after the new email is released. Trey56 07:52, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Strong Bad Email: looking old

While I may have been too late for the new article's beginnings or something, I did get the new scroll button song onto the menu's subtitle script!!!! :) Now all I wanna ask is for someone to translate this, and for me to enjoy the new... hotness, for lack of a better word. --Totally not getting old, Addict 2006 13:34, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, I finished the subtitle script. Though I'm no part of the Subtitle project. --Addict 2006 15:08, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey, the subtitles look good — well done. Trey56 15:22, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Now that I've also done what I could on the looking old script, I want someone to translate that or at least make a mirror of the "scrolling up high and down low" song so that the previous script can be copied from the history and put there. Because I overwrote the whole thing when i found out about the new scroll button song. --Going a bit crazy, Addict 2006 16:23, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

This is weird.

Why aren't the weekly stuff updated yet? --Addict 2006 13:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

No sign all day. I wonder... --Addict 2006 03:05, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay, nothing this morning either. Well, there might be no weekly stuff this week. (Stuff to be proven wrong though.) --Addict 2006 13:41, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Homestar Runner Desktop Buddy

Hey, Addict 2006. I had a look at the link you showed me to the free Homestar Runner "Desktop Buddy". I didn't have a chance to try it out since I don't have a Windows machine, but do you think that it should go on Website Sightings? Sorry for the late reply, Trey56 14:44, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

It's on a whole bunch of sites providing freeware stuff. I'm telling you that it's out of proportion and all. And I do NOT want anyone else to know unless they peek at any of our talk pages. Okay??? --Trying to be assertive but ends up aggressive somehow, Addict 2006 16:47, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

See blog excerpt below.

This does not act good for Homestar fans

You know this thing called the Homestar Desktop Buddy? Don't bother downloading it. It doesn't animate, the proportions are off, and it isn't interactive in any way whatsoever.

--Almost signed my first name, Addict 2006 16:49, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

And if I have to provide pictures, I might. Although it will cost as one of the personal images attributed to me. So I'm reluctant. -- Impatient for the weekly stuff to arrive, Addict 2006 16:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
It doesn't count as a personal image if you upload it to an external website (say Photobucket or ImageShack) then embed it in the page. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 17:05, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Like what User:The Paper did? The IMG Src thing? --Addict 2006 17:13, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. Simply enter the URL of the image without anything around it, and the software will do the IMG SRC thing automatically. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 17:18, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

and what IS wrong with the free program???

Back to the original topic. I don't know if I want to add an image right now so I'll try to describe what I do remember.

Okay, so I remember there being The Cheat, Coach Z, Marzipan, Homestar Runner, and Strong Bad (in no particular order). Unfortunately, The Cheat is too big compared to the others, Marzipan's face features are too big, and Strong Bad is mis-proportioned. And yeah, the only thing you can do with it is open the program and exit out of the program. It doesn't do anything. --Addict 2006 18:17, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

So, they just sit in the background of your desktop? Trey56 18:20, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Yyyyyyyeah. All it does is loop through badly mis-proportioned pictures of a few characters. That's it. :( --Addict 2006 18:22, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, here's the description: "This cool Homestar Runner Buddy comes from the popular cartoon. These toons display on the desktop while you do other things on your computer. This desktop buddy will show the fun cartoons from the Homestar Runner website.

Homestar Runner
Strong Bad
The Cheat
Coach Z
Marzipan"

I was right on the character listings. SO, about the description, no they're just characters from the cartoon series, not any toons themselves. I say that the description is poorly written, as in "little questions". And once again, they're badly mis-proportioned. --Wonders if that's enough for your opinion to be cracked, Addict 2006 18:25, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

And after seeing the program for myself, I thought that the ratings were highly suspicious. I mean, 91% Thumbs Up and 09% Thumbs Down over 78 votes??? I know, this stuff is 2003 stuff, but really, there's no place to vote for it on that particular site. Isn't that suspicious? --Addict 2006 18:27, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Looking at another site, it (and a few others) says the characters are animated. I say hardly. --Addict 2006 18:29, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it'd be a lot cooler if they occasionally spoke or did something. Trey56 18:32, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Even some guy named Jeff said it was bad. I'll post the thing here so you don't have to go there (sic): "Homestar Runner Desktop buddy great idea, but not many features for it. I was expecting it to be like the Microsoft Word paper clip buddy, but more use full and not as annoying. The program can only change from one character to another character. Most characters are'nt the proportionate size, an example strong bad's neck is long and homestar's feet are to small. Some changes that I would think would fix it up is to have it, where its only one character you have and you can just to other characters, not it flipping thourgh pictures and the buddy could tell you the time and say it could say phrase's and it could search and find stuff for you on your desktop. That would make it an excellent program I think, and they probaly would sell like hot cakes." --See what I mean? Addict 2006 18:36, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it gives you a virus. Seriously, I downloaded it and my computer got a virus. Thank GOD I have Windows Live OneCare, or I would have some adware on the computer. --Unsigned by 75.33.242.44

Well, there's no point anyway. It's downright useless. --Addict 2006 07:28, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Subtitles

It's cool that you're doing the subtitles for strong badathlon, but shouldn't you wait until the transcript is finished? Since the subtitles are supposed to match the transcript? It would be easier as well.Shwoo 02:52, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey there, of course we'll let you do the subtitles. You put the inprogress note up, so nobody is going to interfere. I only added the notice for viewers because without it, it causes hundreds of JavaScript errors and will only confuse viewers. As a side-note, you should really only add an inprogress note if you are working on it right now. Editing other pages while you have that template up would normally look a bit odd. Loafing 02:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

By the way, nice job on these, Addict — they look great. Trey56 03:11, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
You said in a comment about the subtitles you're doing, "LEAVE THIS HERE! There is no other way for me to explain who's working on this!!!!" But there is. You could use the history. There's no need to use two in progress templates. I guess you can used the {{transcriptinprogress}} one if you want, but then you don't have to use {{inprogress}}, because you already said the section was in progress. There's also no need to claim the subtitles as soon as the toon comes out. If you can do that, can I claim the subtitles for the next toon a week or so in advance? ...I really want to do one again. Shwoo 02:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

02.05.2007...

"email... soon"? That's the second time I've ever seen that happen in my life! (Well, since joining this wiki.) I gotta get ready for the "newness". There's also a new Heroes episode tonight, and I also kinda have homework to do as well. I'm gonna keep watch for the new email every half hour or so or something. --Addict 2006 23:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I betcha that new email is mine. I asked him what he would put on bonus features of a DVD. Let's see...
  • I put the message on "high priority", so it will be at the top of the email list.
  • I just sent it Saturday.
  • It's a cool email to answer.
    • See you around Addict. Peace out dog foo gangsta yo. TheYellowDart(t/c) 23:19, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I've refreshed Firefox a couple of times. It still doesn't say "email soon" on the official site. Why? --Addict 2006 00:14, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Never mind. I went and followed Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Bypass your cache. --Addict 2006 00:17, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

XHTML

Hi there Addict 2006. Regarding this edit summary, just so you know, the DOCTYPE for the wiki is indeed XHTML (1.0 Transitional), however <br /> vs. <br> doesn't make a difference because MediaWiki converts the latter to the former for us if it is used in the wiki markup. Keep on keepin' on. -- Tom 04:05, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

HRWiki:STUFF: IMMEDIATE attention!

If I've already voted, am I even allowed to remove my own votes? --Addict 2006 23:58, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

02.19.07

Under yet another "email soon" message, I'm still highly obsessed to apparently the wrong things, but who's gonna take the subtitles of the new SBEmail this time? --Addict 2006 15:03, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

I've heard rumblings of people being interested in doing them — don't worry, they'll get done! Trey56 19:09, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

The point of the matter is that I've done 3 consecutive SBEmail subtitle scripts already. So who's gonna take on this one? --Addict 2006 19:10, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmm...I guess we'll find out soon. But really, somebody will take care of it; don't feel like you have to do it. On a side note, I don't mind if you post messages alerting me to your talk page on my talk page, but other people might not appreciate unsolicited messages like that. Have a relaxing afternoon, Trey56 19:13, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Trey. Addict, please stop spamming talk pages! If you have a question about subtitles, post them on the subtitle talk page. If you want to ask one particular user, ask them on their talk page. Don't ask four people at once on their talk page. Also, don't stress about the subtitles. We've managed to subtitle every single toon, and I don't see why we can't keep this up. We also don't agree in advance on who writes the subtitles. Whoever gets there first does it. Chill! ;-) Loafing 19:14, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
And don't worry if nobody's claimed the subtitles after an hour or three have passed. That's normal.Shwoo 23:04, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

{part of this section has been moved to User talk:Theyellowdart as suggested in HRWiki:Talk page etiquette.}

sbemail168 Subtitles

Uhm... Hello? I kinda placed that template on there so I could do the subtitles. That's why the template was there. --TotalSpaceshipGirl3 01:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Eh, you know what? Never mind. You have more experience with the subtitles than me, it's better for you to have it. Sorry if I made you feel bad. --TotalSpaceshipGirl3 02:04, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

About my comment

Addict 2006?! More like, Addict 2007! -Viklas

What??!! Nothing percent?

Based on a true story.

I started downloading the pages of this site like 10 minutes ago! Trying to visit and do the weeklies! Oh that's IT!!! Hold on to your... uh, something something something 20X6 playing headsets, blubbering masses of HRWiki, 'cuz the Addict's gonna do-sum-bow-dis!

*marches off to Trey56.* Listen here. I know you're my friend here and all, but why's this site throttling me down? I mean, back in the day, I used to connect here at 1200 baud. Or something. But ever since ... something happened since this afternoon, I'm lucky if I get 12 baud! Okay, so what do you think? --Addict 2006 22:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, for some reason the wiki occasionally experiences brief hiccups of slowness. I'm not really sure why. Usually they don't last too long, at least. Trey56 22:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
It happens to me here a lot. It is frustrating, but it usually clears up quickly, like Trey said. TheYellowDart(t/c) 23:02, 22 March 2007 (UTC) Stress filta?

Homsar being on Onstar

Ah, yes. I am a latecomer. If I remember correctly, I made the commercial after discovering how to download the Homsar quotes from the ATM. I'd forgotten about the whole thing until I made my user page and added it as an afterthought. It's not so much an HR tribute as a comment on the MO-rons usually featured on those OnStar spots. --BigScaryMike 05:28, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

re: voiceover changes - yes, I had serious doubts about that when I did it that way. I'd nver had to deal with that situation before. It's good to know in the future not to do that way! Anyway, thanks for reviewing and tightening up my work; much appreciated. BryanCTC 00:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

April Fools subpage

Hey there, Addict. I noticed your April Fools subpage; unfortunately, we have pretty restrictive subpage policies, unlike 'Kipiedia. Since your subpage doesn't satisfy those conditions, I'll need to delete it. However, you could replace the links to that subpage with links to this previous version of your user page, which would achieve almost the same effect. Let me know when you get this message, and I'll delete the page. Sorry, and thanks for understanding. Laters, Trey56 01:54, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, ok. :) Addict 2006 23:02, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

So, Trey, did you see that I posted about that subpage? Homestar-Winner (talk) 23:30, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, you're the one who brought it to my attention. Trey56 23:32, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah - I must have forgotten to take it off - I haven't been working on here lately because everything on H*R is so slow... --Addict 2006 21:30, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
No problem at all. By H*R being slow, do you mean the wiki, or the actual toons? Trey56 21:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm talking coincidence when I say the Wiki's happenings (as well as loading times) are slow. because once I submitted that last comment, the wiki went slow. --Addict 2006 21:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Who had the mock-up of the forum from unnatural?

It was in a picture on their user page. I remember seeing it many months ago but now it's not there. As far as I know. Anyone? --Addict 2006 00:33, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Looking old like you're good at making subtitles

Hey, "Nice job!" (about you doing the subtitles) Trey56 02:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

One, Two

Addict, was this
what'd you expect? It was a daunting task and I only had the early copy of the subtitles at the time.
directed at me? I hope you realize, that an edit summary is, only, an edit summary, not a soapbox. I have to put *something* there to explain why I was editing, after all... I don't even get how you might think that was aimed at you, cause it wasn't. We're all in this together. Wikis are a work in progress, that's what I'm there for. Please don't take it personally.

Aww, look, now I'm gonna have to get that sad look on my face and play that arpeggio chord as I wander off into space :P [Nebulon] 02:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Apparently, I was angry and stressed at the time. --Addict 2006 02:55, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

No worries - I'm sure it's stressful being the first to crank out an entire freaking subtitle transcript when a new toon's released. I don't think I'd have the patience. [Nebulon] 01:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

The thing is having it drastically changed before you know it. --Addict 2006 13:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
