To find out more, so that I don't have to type it all twice, my Wikipedia userpage

As that link suggests, I'm the same person as Yelt. You've prolly heard of him/me, and prolly not in a good way. So what's the deal here? Well, here goes...

The Saga of Yelt

The best place to start would be in January, when I Googled "Darth Katana X", the name of a then-former Wikipedian who has since returned, at least for now. But that's a whole other story. Anyway, the magic of Google turned up his userpage here, and I joined the site as "Yeltensic" to pop in, sign his guestbook, and prolly leave. (As to why I picked that name, see my Wikipedia userpage, the link up there. As hard as it may be for HRWikians to believe, the name "Yeltensic" isn't a tainted name everywhere, and has its own rich history (*rolls eyes*) predating its use here). Knowing that I prolly wouldn't be around much, if at all, in case anyone left messages on my talkpage I set my preferences for notification e-mails. About a week later, I got an e-mail/talkpage message from Darth about the guestbook discussions all of you already know about. I came in and voted, and in retrospect had a slightly trollish attitude in that chat, partly cos I was weary from the Great Userbox War of 2006 over on Wikipedia (too long a story for me to go into here), and partly cos, being used to Wikipedia, I didn't know profanity was unacceptable at HRWiki. (Sorry, my bad!) Little did I, or anyone, know that that notification e-mail from Wikiadmin was to set in motion the chain of events that resulted in my username now being Granola.

After being reprimanded for my less-than-model behavior, I got a bit defiant and created a user subpage to endorse guestbooks. It was swiftly deleted by Joe. I recreated it. So on several times. I was blocked for a week. (having checked the rules many times, I'm still pretty sure that page was allowed...but prolly in following the letter of the law, not necessarily the spirit). Angry at what I saw as an out-of-line deletion and what I saw as an undeserved block, I created lots of sockpuppets...Yeltensic 2.0, Yeltensic 3.0, Yeltensic 95...the list goes on and on. (Most if not all of them have had their edits reattributed to the original account). I didn't intend to vandalize with them, but I was obviously looking to annoy the sysops. I was lucky that I have access to lots of IPs, having two houses and more than one computer at each one. A few times they disabled account creation to stop me, making me one of only 3 users to cause that, the others being Willy on Wheels and NSMC. (I shouldn't be proud of that...and I'm not...seriously).

Meanwhile, guestbooks were banned. Around then, already on a roll as a troll, I started with the vandalism (rather than just creating annoying sockpuppets), with the goal of restoring guestbooks. I started by defacing the guestbook policy page until it was protect'd, later the sysops' userpages. Eventually I was shut out with all of my IP ranges blocked, and so I merely got others to do the dirty work for me. I got friends to do it, and I posted links on IMDB boards, my IMDB profile, my Uncyclopedia userpage, and the Uncyclopedia article on HRWiki, with instructions to vandalize with my usual "bring back the guestbooks" message. After I was finally free to edit, I created this account.

My plan was to stay for a week or two, editing constructively, and then surprise everyone with vandalism, announcing that I was Yelt all along. (as for the name, I was eating a Granola bar when I came up with it...I never even planned for it to be a permanent name). After a week, I carried out the scheme; I vandalized Seriously's sig, replacing it with "Heeerrre's YELTY!...yes, it was me all along," and my usual guestbook message. As a result, the message appeared on every talkpage where he had posted. (I did the same to my own sig). I thought I would be blocked again, but since I had been an OK user for a week as Granola, I was allowed to stay. By then I had started actually watching HR, and was more interested in contributing to this site, so I abandoned my "vandalism for the guestbooks" cause. I haven't change my mind on the issue of guestbooks, but...I decided there were other ways to spend my time. I would prefer to be called Yeltensic, but the name is tainted to the point that I'm no longer allowed to use it, so for now at least, Granola it is. (Oh well).
