Revision as of 02:43, 4 December 2005

I'm a 42-year-old software developer who really likes homestarrunner.com. I'm blessed with three great daughters who all love Homestar as well. It's one of the few things that all four of us can share and enjoy together.

Oh, and sorry about having such a goofy user name. My real name is hm*h0mey587.

Grammar Guide Requests

The guide itself has been moved to User:Bill_Martinson/Grammar Guide.

If you'd like to request additions, please add your requests here in this section, not on the Grammar Guide page itself.

  • Some examples of such "issues" would be a lot vs. *alot and whether (conjunction) vs. weather (noun). —THE PAPER PREEEOW 18:46, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
  • the misuse of may vs. might vs. can. So many people use may because it sounds nicer while the correct word is might. I R F 23:14, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
  • In the same vein of overcorrecting: using I as an object and appropriate times for like as opposed to as (I know it's basic, but some could benefit from a clear explanation of the two). —AbdiViklas 02:43, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

  • General punctuation guide. Information on periods, parenthesis, commas (when there are too few or too many), hyphens, semicolons and the like. Also, a distinction between the american and english ways of dealing with punctuation inside parentheses and quotes. (This is something for which an informal policy has been established; but to have this in one place -- and eventually be made official -- would be great.) --Stux 16:55, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
It's already in HRWiki:Manual of Style. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:00, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
Awesome! Part of it is. But missing is stuff on periods, commas, etc. --Stux 17:24, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
