{A notebook page with Li'l Brudder drawn on it is laying on a table with a pencil. The screen pans out, and then Li'l Brudder suddenly glows rainbow colors as stars fly out of the page. He jumps off of the page, lands on a sidewalk and drools.}

SINGERS: Here comes Li'l Brudder!

{Cut to a front of the Family Italian Food Place. Li'l Brudder is scraping towards to open door. When he gets close, the door closes with a sign reading "CLOSED" on it. Then the sign spins around to reveal the words, "4 LEGS ONLY."}

SINGERS: He can make it on his own!

{Cut to a kitchen with a bowl of dog food labeled "li'l brudder" and Li'l Brudder nearby. Li'l Brudder scapes up to the dog food bowl and pushes it with his face.}

SINGERS: He'll scrape right along, while I'm singing this song.

{Cut to Li'l Brudder falling through the sky while wearing a parachute pack and goggles.}

SINGERS: You know he was born to ramble and roam!

{Cut to two oval-shaped pictures hanging on a wall. The one on the left is a picture of a dog and reads, "MAW," while the one of the right is a picture of a unicycle and reads, "PAW." The screen slowly pans out to reveal Li'l Brudder looking at the pictures sadly.}

SINGERS: Here comes Li'l Brudder.

{Cut to a white silhouette of Li'L Brudder scraping along in front of the words, "One Leg!!" The sun behind them is casting moving shadows.}

SINGERS: He's got one leg up on life!

SINGERS: Li'l Brudder! Li'l Brudder! And maybe Tendafoot, too!

{A circle with Tendafoot on it appears on screen. Li'l Brudder falls down.}

LI'L BRUDDER: I can make it on my own!

{Camera pans out to show the whole Telebision.}

NARRATOR: It's the "Li'l Brudder and Maybe Tendafoot, Too" show!

{Camera flips around to show Strong Bad and The Cheat sleeping on the couch in their basement.}

THE CHEAT: {snoring like Curly} Mmm-Memmmmm...

{Suddenly Homestar Runner jumps out from behind the couch and flies into the air, crying.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying uncontrollably} Oh-ho-ho-hooooooooo!

{Homestar falls back down. About a second later he flies back up.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying} Li'l Brudd-or-or-ooor!

{Homestar falls down and then jumps back up with his legs crossed.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying} Blah-ah-ah! Blah! Blah! Blah! Blaaah!

{Homestar falls back down. Then he stands up behind the couch.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying} I couldn't be happier with your network debut!

{Homestar sinks behind the couch. Then he pops up again and moves across the couch.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying} Wah!

{Homestar sinks out of sight and then pops up again on the other side of the couch.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying} This is your most ambitious album to date!

{Homestar sinks below the couch again. Then he flies out from behind the couch on last time.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {crying} Blah! Blah! Blah! Brud-dor-or-or!

{Homestar crashes into the ground once more.}

STRONG BAD: {mumbling} ActRaiser. {wakes up} What?

THE CHEAT: {wakes up} Uuuuuuuhh...

STRONG BAD: Nnnnn... you guys hear something?

THE CHEAT: Meeenh.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {sticks leg up from behind the couch} Nope!

STRONG BAD: Cool.

{The Cheat and Strong Bad instantly fall back asleep and Strong Bad snores loudly. After a few seconds, a circle with Li'l Brudder appears on screen.}

LI'L BRUDDER: Things are looking up!

{Everything besides Li'L Brudder and his circle fades to black and the toon ends.}

Easter Eggs

  • At the end of the cartoon, click on Li'l Brudder to view dialogue with Li'l Brudder and Tendafoot.
{Cut to the junkyard with Li'l Brudder and his three friends.}
LI'L BRUDDER: Well, we got 'em where we want 'em now! I can't tell you how happy I am for you to be with me! Let's... trace! Let's trace some drawings!
TENDAFOOT: Oh, Piddles. Wait, is your name Piddles?
{The legless parrot falls over.}

Fun Facts

Trivia

  • This is the first time we see Strong Bad's eyes while he's sleeping.
  • Since it takes Li'l Brudder 20 minutes to complete the 100yd dash, he travels an average of 0.17 mph -- about the speed of a giant tortoise.

Remarks

  • The basement ceiling in this cartoon is much higher than in previous cartoons. For example, Homestar is able to stand on Strong Mad's head through the ceiling in email preview on HomestarRunner.com PAY PLUS! However, in couch patch, the ceiling seems just as high as it is in this toon.
  • At the beginning, the lines farther back on the notebook paper appear the same size as the ones closer up.
  • This short was released on The Cheat's cheatday (as his fake ID tells us).
  • When Homestar Runner remarks "This is your most ambitious album to date!", it goes along with his 'network debut' comment as one of those meaningless, silly praises often heard for media outlets.
  • On the "Family Italian Food Place" sign, it reads open 11-10 P.M.
  • Apparently, no humans are allowed in the "Family Italian Food Place". Unless that human has 2 extra legs.
  • Homestar must be a terrific athlete if he can jump that high from kneeling (or lying?) behind a couch.

Goofs

  • When Li'l Brudder tries to lick his dogfood, his reflection doesn't move at all.
  • While traveling to the Italian food place, it appears as though Li'l Brudder's good leg is on the right side instead of the left.

Inside References

  • Li'l Brudder is a character shown in the email "crying" that was created by Strong Bad solely to make Homestar Runner cry. Tendafoot was shown off in the same email and was used to show Strong Bad's view of Strong Sad. Li'l Brudder on a football field dressed as a quarterback is also a reference to the email "crying." On it, Li'l Brudder told The Cheat "I'm gonna be a quarterback when I grow up."
  • This is another instance of Strong Bad's couch mumbling.

Real World References

  • ActRaiser was an SNES game by Enix and Quintet.
  • The hole in Lil' Brudder's tooth is possibly based on Courage the Cowardly Dog, which was a television show on Cartoon Network.
  • The sound at the beginning when Lil' Brudder is coming out of the paper as well as the rainbow surrounding Lil' Brudder is reminiscent of that of the popular children's show Barney and Friends, in which a stuffed animal would come to life as the famed purple dinosaur.
  • The line "and maybe Tendafoot, too" refers to various cartoons in which the secondary character wouldn't be mentioned until the very end of the theme song. Examples include Touché Turtle and Dum Dum and Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har.
