Pom Pom as Walter Sobchak

The Big Lebowski is a 1998 comedy film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen starring Jeff Bridges and John Goodman. The movie has become a cult classic for its originality and direction, eccentric characters, and convoluted plot. The Brothers Chaps sometimes slip references to this movie in Homestar Runner cartoons.

  • Email cliffhangers — The bloody comma key on the ransom note that Strong Bad calls a "little toe" refers to the movie, when a ransom note appears for a kidnapped woman along with a severed little toe.
  • Jibblies 2 — Strong Mad is looking into the "TIME Man Of The Year" mirror as seen in the movie when The Dude first meets Mr. Lebowski.
  • Email pet show — The summary in New Stuff says that "The Cheat has freaking papers, Dude". Walter says the same thing (albeit, more explicitly) to The Dude when explaining why his ex-wife could not take her dog with her on vacation.
  • Dangeresque 3: The Criminal ProjectiveDangeresque says that the paintings in the Smoky Office "really tie the room together", a phrase The Dude uses to describe his beloved rug.
