Looking at our current content warning templates, this one is the first of its kind. We could also use it on the Old Characters Page and the second and third game menus. Keep, though I made this to start with. :P --70.253.165.204 23:03, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I am strongly opposed to the use of this template anywhere on the site. It gives way too much weight to what amounts to a couple of relatively minor words and themes, and does so by unattractively trumpeting its presence at the top of the article. Furthermore, official H*R content should not be labeled offensive (even if it offends you), because opinions are going to vary too widely (there are many who are offended by O Holy Crap, among other toons). The only article that legitimately needs some kind of notice is Swears, and it already has a custom one. — It's dot com 18:54, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm with DC, more or less for all the same reasons. While I realize WP:NOTCENSORED doesn't apply to this wiki, I also don't think we should take the practice of censoring or giving content warnings too far. I agree. I don't see where this could be used in a reasonable way. Swears has a custom warning, some interviews have {{uncensored}}, and sightings have {{sightingslanguagewarning}} and {{sitelanguagenotice}}. Nothing else should carry a warning or needs to. While you all make good arguments, think about our swear policy. "Depending on the severity of the word(s) in question, consider adding a notice to the reader." This template, while I do admit that I put this on game menus that only use "Damn", does in no way go beyond that policy. But you are right about it being stand-out. Putting a notice up for the word "damn" is certainly stretching it into the absurd. Also, the current version of the template that simply puts the warning icon in the upper right corner does pretty much nothing. You would have to know what it means to understand the symbol. The flip side of "consider adding a notice" is that if we believe the vast majority of readers would either not be offended by something borderline or would take it in stride, then we should not add a notice (and indeed not adding a notice should be the default). — It's dot com 00:10, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
