Dangeresque: puppet squad?

This was added to the template, and the template was added to that page, but i don't see this as fitting. The promotional media is gameplay trailers and previews. This has nothing to do with the next game aside from using the same characters, most likely to get people in the mood. We're not about to put stunt double on this list, are we? — Defender1031*Talk 12:18, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

I think it fits primarily because of the link at the very end, which does point back to Telltale Games, though you are right that this is not as direct as previous promos. On the other hand, Strong Bad Gameways is also pretty tangental, and I don't think anyone doubts that belongs in the list as well. wbwolf (t | ed) 14:51, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Strong bad gameways is clearly telling people about safety on wii flights. this has nothing to do with wii flights. — Defender1031*Talk 15:06, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm vaguely wondering if Shark-Tooth Bubs' "Or did you?" line means the short is meant to be a sort of prologue trailer for Dangeresque 3, but we'd have to wait for the game to come out to be certain. Regardless, the "click here to visit Telltale Games" link does kinda suggest to me that it's meant to be at least a promotion of some kind. --Belthazar 15:09, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I wish to remove it from the template as well. The fact it's not available at telltalegames.com probably means that it wasn't completely intended to promote Dangeresque 3. BBG 04:41, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
The puppet stuff is listed under promotional material for the game, and it definitely fits that description. In other words, it wasn't created just for the heck of it; it was created to generate interest in and advertise SBCG4AP. What differentiates it from stunt double is that the email wasn't created to promote the game, and that's why the email isn't listed here. — It's dot com 05:23, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I agree: the puppet short was created to promote the game, even if its plot isn't related to the game's. So, it should go in the template. Trey56 17:25, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Huge

This template is getting HUGE. We need to do something like space it out so it's not so obnoxious, anyone agree? MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 01:43, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

We could (shudder) copy what Wikipedia does for insanely large templates (sampled here) and break it up to episodes (already done) and put the episode names in a column on the left. Or we could be more selective about the articles we put on the template. Either way, I'm not entirely sure that this template really needs it. If there's a second season, that's a different matter. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 01:48, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
I think if they make another season we should give it its own template. BBG 02:42, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm for it. Let's see here...
There we go! My first publicly viewable WikiMedia table! Yay! Though I did copy and paste some of the code for the current template, it was just the CSS. --75.5.176.233 03:05, 12 December 2008 (UTC), edited again on 03:06, 12 December 2008 (UTC), and 03:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC).
Looks good, but it would look better if you boldfaced "various", "responses", and "promotional media". BBG 03:12, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
That looked ugly (in my opinion), plus, Wikipedia does it with the example Martyo posted earlier, and we do a similar thing for the Dangeresque template. Oh, and allow me to correct myself: MediaWiki, not WikiMedia. Oops. --75.5.176.233 03:15, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Now that I think about it, this thing isn't going to be easy to manage. Its formatting makes it hard to work with, not to mention find something. --75.5.176.233 03:18, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
I think we should just keep it as is, as it allows easy navigation between episodes in the series, and as Annony said, we'd have to redo the current formatting on all those pages. ThePizz Pick 23:38, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
What? No, I mean the template. Its harder too figure out where you are in the code. --75.5.176.233 15:22, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I misunderstood you, I thought you were talking about the articles themselves. Anyways, I still think it should be kept as is for simplicity.ThePizz Pick 15:45, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
It is simplistic, but for sure it takes up too much space. We need to figure out something better. --75.5.176.233 16:49, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
I think we need to have the section of which episode that certain thing applies to so we won't have this humongous template fangoriously devouring the page. This is actually bigger than some pages themselves. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 18:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
True, and I agree, the template is H-E-U-G HEUG, and I am going to change it. User:Bad Bad Guy thank you. I am Meaty85203 05:08, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Maybe, then, we should have one template to list the episodes and then have each episode have its own template? --69.150.85.66 21:17, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, scratch that last part on my previous post (yes, as 69.150.85.66), we could use parser functions for that. However, I think it might be best to have the template cover everything as it does now. Here's what the entire navbox would look like if we went with a more horizontal layout:

I decided to take on Bad Bad Guy's advice; the entire thing is a little cluttered so it helps to make things bold. I will now go on to size comparisons to see what the size differences are in a couple of browsers. Soiled Bargains (talk|ctrb) 17:18, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

You made a slight mistake, which I fixed, but I admit it's easier to read. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:40, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Edit conflict'd! I took some screenshots (before you fixed my mistake, but fortunately, it did not change the size), and now I have the (unnecessarily detailed) stats! The current template is 704px by 663px (with an area of 466,752px2). This one is 841px by 499px (with an area of 419,659px2). The height difference is -164px (75.2% of the current template), while the width difference is +137px (119.46% of the current template). The area difference is -27,093px2, so that's 10.1% less space than the current template (89.91% of the current template). Soiled Bargains (talk|ctrb) 17:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
I do like the horizontal layout. By far, SBCG4AP is the largest template on the site (since there are so many related links). Also, I want to echo the suggestion above that we should consider having the option to collapse the template, like Wikipedia does. A couple other templates (Template:CheatCommandos, Template:VidelectrixGames and Template:Limozeen come to mind) could also benefit from having the collapse option, especially when they get stacked on a single page. wbwolf (t | ed) 18:03, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
I say we go with the one by Soiled. It is clean and well organized. It is much easier to read.--Jellote wuz here 18:08, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Actually, Wbwolf has a good idea. From what it looks like (briefly, I must get on to other things), we'd need to nest tables. Also, it'd be cool to get a ParserFunction in there that would auto collapse all of the rows nested tables besides the episode the article is related to!
