"Real" wrestlers

Spiky Shoulderpads are possibly parodying the Road Warriors or the Legion of Doom. The "Facepaint connection" directly parodies Demolition, including the Mr. Fuji-esque manager. Jack 'em Up kid's outfit is similar to the Junkyard dog, but talks more like Hulk Hogan. Boliver Turnbunkler may refer to William Regal. --Slackerboy 22:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the Road Warriors. I don't even know wrestling (like, at all), and I thought of it. (I probably remember some wrestling game review in Nintendo Power...) --DorianGray 22:56, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Threw in the Road Warriors as well as specific jabs at Hulk Hogan. I don't know if the "EM UP" on the back of Homestar's tights is similar enough to "THUMP" on the back of JYD's to merit inclusion. And by the way, I've been watching wrestling for 20 years -- this email is downright hilarious. --TJDevil02
The out-of-breath three-words-at-a-time ranting is classic, isn't it? But anyway, I think "EM UP" to "THUMP" would get rejected hard around here, unless you can show that the location/lettering is similar. I haven't seen this, and couldn't find an image of it quickly. OptimisticFool 00:30, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, JYD's THUMP was just written in a plain sans-serif font, and it didn't go in an arch either. And maybe it's just me, but I think the Facepaint Connection's blue/gray/black color scheme looks more like the Powers of Pain than the Demos. Mr. Fuji managed both, right? --68.214.209.69 07:54, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
You're right, he did. It's worth examining more, especially since I forgot the PoP wore facepaint. They dropped it after they were split up in 1990.

Missed an Easter egg.

  • Why are you mentioning it here? Just add it next time you see something like that. 0rion 06:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

We HAVE seen his moves... some of them anyway (oh, and grammar error)

I don't wanna go adding anything to this article about it as I don't know the proper names, but we saw SB perform a suplex and a piledriver in sibbie... my wrestling knowledge isn't good enough to know what kind they were, so I'll leave it up to someone more in the know :) Psi 23:05, 27 November 2007 (UTC) Oh yeah, and I don't think"Dear awesome Strong Bad." is actually a sentence, as it does not contain a verb, despite SB's remark.

On the "PS", of course it isn't. However, "Dear Strong Bad" SHOULD end in a comma, not a period. It's just Strong Bad mocking the writer's grammar like always. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 00:31, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Strong Bad was also taxidoimied suplexing a cougar in funeral.Xerzes 00:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

The moves in sibbie are a jumping piledriver and a standing suplex, I believe. The Suplex might be a snap suplex, but I can't tell.12.216.87.36 05:44, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

He also does some sort of elbow drop in lady...ing. (And some sort of helicopter-sounding Samus-esque spin attack...) --DorianGray 05:55, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Top Rope Elbow Drop, and the spinning attack looks like a crazy variation of a front dropkick. I'm going to register later, probably.12.216.87.36 06:02, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Registered, and that IS a front dropkick variation.Tommyspud 06:12, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Another grammar error

When SB types "dinosaur tranquilizer fueled ranting and raving" (misspelling "fueled" as "feuled" on the screen), shouldn't it be hyphenated as "dinosaur-tranquilizer-fueled?" I know at least "tranquilizer-fueled" is.

Technically, yes, you are correct. That kind of modifier should be hyphenated.DAGRON 01:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Fo' Sizzle

I'm thinking it's Sizzleweight. The emblem on the belt shows bacon and a fried egg.. sizzling? Although it does sound like Strong Bad says it "Fizzle" .. but maybe that's just him mocking Homestar.. OptimisticFool 00:42, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

In this case, I just picked whatever I thought I heard, since it wasn't very distinct. I can see "sizzleweight" being right now that you mention it. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 00:50, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
I keep hearing "thistleweight", but i guess "sizzle" makes more sense... — Defender1031*Talk 00:51, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Jackemettes

I think comparing this to "Juggalo" is a bit much of a stretch. I admit this may be partially due to a strong dislike of ICP. Xerzes 00:52, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I have friends in a wrestling troupe who wrestle in Juggalo/Juggalette style, so I don't think it's much of a stretch. I think we should at least acknowledge the Juggalette/Jackemette similarity. Taranch-V15
This 'similarity' is a forced coincidence at best. I see no reason to include it. Of course, I just had my History of Tudor/Stuart England class today, so I heard Jack-emite as being extremely similar to Jacobite. I suppose that gives us a This and a That...can anyone provide an Other Thing? Some kind of scientist 07:13, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Vegemite!
It's probably too flimsy to survive STUFFing, but I also felt like the similarity to "Jacobites" was intentional, if bizarre. For the unfamiliar, it is indeed pronounced "JACK-uh-bite", not "JAY-kuh-bite". --TheNicestGuy 15:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Juggalettes are related to wrestling. Jacobites are related to those who followed the belief of the illegitimacy of parliamentary interference with monarchical succession. If you're going to argue against something, at least keep it on topic. Taranch-V15

Poo Yeah?

I don't hear a "P" sound. It's more like "Hoo Yeah" or "Who Yeah" DAGRON 00:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I hear "hoo yeah" as well. Has Matt? (talk) 01:50, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
hoo, this ain't no Important Rap Song here. — Defender1031*Talk 01:53, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, "Hoo, yeah!" Well, I like the comma in there, but I might be outnumbered. But it ain't .. the other thing .. that I can't even bring myself to type. I don't like that word. =] OptimisticFool 01:57, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
It's probably "Boo Yeah". I think that would be a portmanteau of "Boo Yah" and "Oh Yeah". Im a bell 03:36, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I also think that it sounds more like "Hoo Yeah". "Poo yeah", lol. Maybe if they were wrestling in a bathroom.--Ava 02:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Fear and Loathing?

Is it just me or do Strong Bad and Strong Mad's getups as "The Wild Vacationers" recall Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (who are memorably Wild in their Vacationing). Shouldn't this go in Real World references? Cheesechimp 04:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Foreign object bros.

Could this possibly be a reference to the super mario bros.? I'm sure I'm wrong, but this is the first thing I thought of when I saw it.-AWMPSCE

How? Just because they both use "Brothers" in their name? --DorianGray 20:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Actually, from my standpoint, it seems like a connection to the hammer bros.... Or maybe ECW hardcore matches, since wrestlers occasionally brought weapons down to the ring.12.216.87.36 05:34, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, and I even think they had a hammer. 76.173.92.70 05:36, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Or a referance to Regal, when he hid brass knuckles in his trunks. They were usually pulled out and used to win matches.12.216.87.36 05:48, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I thought of the hammer bros. first thing when i saw it, but i think it's too much of a stretch to be a real reference. — Defender1031*Talk 12:52, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it is, but I don't think Regal or the hardcore comparisions are a stretch.Tommyspud 14:34, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I think that anything is a stretch here. — Defender1031*Talk 15:13, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
But, it is a reference to all the 'brother' teams in wrestling, like team 3D, Hardyz, Briscoes, and Harlem Heat. Tommyspud 15:24, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Omg, it's a reference to the Steiners. At least, the costume and name is. SB's even wearing the headgear, sans earmuffs, but SB has no ears or the mask covers them up.Tommyspud 03:57, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

On a different note, can anyone tell what the other object Strong Bad has is? It kinda looks like a blunt to me, but it's too big and round. DAGRON 02:15, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

If you ask me, it looks like a huge marijuana joint. I know there's another word for that, but I don't know it. Anyway, I ran it just looking for that, and is seems to be about the right length, and wrapped in white paper... --Gaeamil 12:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Strong Bad and Strong Mad's Wrestling Teams

I'm thinking we should make a seperate page describing the identities that Strong Bad and Strong Mad use as their wresting teams. Any thoughts? TheCoolBot 21:08, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Gardon Boy

"Garden Boy is a reference to Nature Boy". I'm not sure about this. Garden Boy could reference anything, even a Garden Freak. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 00:13, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

You know what that means, kids, time for a STUFF! 76.173.92.70 00:23, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
First, Kids? Second, let's wait. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 00:25, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Wait, why are we bringing this to the talk page? It's the SENDER'S NAME! It could be Pulk Pogan and we wouldn't say it's a reference to Hulk Hogan; we don't care about senders. =] OptimisticFool 00:28, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, sometimes we care if it's exceptionally notable and clear-cut to do so. --DorianGray 05:39, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
We're not perfect at guessing TBC's references, so why start guessing the references intended by e-mail senders? O_o It could simply be the guy's usual screen name. He could be a gardener. Heck, it could just be entirely random. ☮y P … "Biscuitheads!" … 19:58, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I suppose if TBC had gone to some effort to parody Nature Boy because the sender's name is Gardenboy, then there would be something to remark on. However, this is obviously not the case. OptimisticFool 03:51, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Strong Sad's pronunciation

It sounds to me like the way Strong Sad delivers his last line is in, like, a faux french accent. Is that notable for this page? Further, it seems like he has a tendency to do this (like "chap au fan" or whatever in funeral, for example, I think there are others..) Should that be a running gag/page?mention somewhere/etc? DAGRON 05:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Foreign Words? --DorianGray 05:47, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, maybe.. I see that his pronunciation of chaperone is indeed on there. But some things don't seem to fit, like this one where he's not actually saying a foreign word, just adding a foreign accent. Which is why I was thinkin' it might be appropriate for a page in its own right... DAGRON 05:58, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, yeah.... we apparently have a page on French... so between the two, bases are probably covered.. DAGRON 06:24, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Seeing as how il is Italian for "the", he's portraying a fake Italian accent. Awexome 17:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Under the neckline

I added this fact:

*This is the first time that Homestar's body under the neckline is shown uncensored.

It was removed by DAGRON with the summary "Is this true? Forgive me if so, but I was almost certain it was not.". Before adding the fact I first checked in Homestar Runner Other Costumes and the most bare he was was with V-neck costumes like this one. The Jack 'Em Up Kid is bare all over and I think this is worth mentioning. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I was sure of it also, and was gonna revert straight away but decided not to since maybe there's something that i missed, however, seeing this post here, i have since reverted it, that fact is back on the page. — Defender1031*Talk 12:53, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:04, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
So, I think the one I'm thinking of is the deleted scene from Yellow Dello. He's definitely naked below the neck and there's no pixelation, but it's from the back, so I dunno if that's different. DAGRON 15:37, 29 November 2007 (UTC) Edit to clarify: So is it different enough that I shouldn't take it out again? DAGRON 02:03, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I think this is a valid fact. --Abelhawk 04:33, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Cinnamon Dots

I count seventeen cinnamon dots on Homestar. Awexome 23:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

The Jack'em up Kid

Might the Jack'em up kid be a spin on the 1-2-3 Kid, Sean Waltman (Syxx, X-Pac, and Syxx-Pac) back in classic WWF? the name and the full body singlet are a dead give away. www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/pictures/x/xpac/09.jpg

Singers

The singers for Strong Sad's entrance music are the same singers for the Thnikkaman's theme song. That fact seems a bit dubious to me. How do we know that they're the same? They don't sound exactly the same to me (plus there's the male sounding name). Anyway, my point is I don't see any way to confirm/verify this "fact". DAGRON 02:03, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Dagron. Some kind of scientist 17:32, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Francais

Should we say something about what "il-est" means in French? ("It/he is") Seems like something that would go in one of the categories. --Abelhawk 04:32, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it was a play on "il Cartographer" and "illest"... --DorianGray 04:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
It's not French, it's Italian. "Il" means "the". — 128.119.30.47 (Talk | contribs) 00:31, 4 December 2007 (UTC) (left unsigned)
I agree — not sure how that slipped it there. I changed it. Trey56 00:35, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Larry The Legend

Thought I'd post my explanation here and let you duke it out if it's legit or not. I had an entry that was deleted, guessing that "Gary the Legend" is a reference to Larry Zbyszko, aka "The Living Legend." Now, while the deleter said that the "legend" thing was tenuous at best (which I'd sort of agree with if that was a problem), I mainly made the association because of the rhyming aspect. Such as "Gary the Legend" and "Larry the Legend" (as Zbyszko is sometimes called). Is this too much of a stretch? (Also, I guess to add to this train of thought, when "Legend" is mentioned in pro wrestling, many times it refers to Larry Zbyszko. If I recall correctly, he once filed a lawsuit against Randy Orton for calling himself "The Legend Killer" ... "Legend" being the part of the nickname that he felt was trademarked.) --- El Santo

I don't know much about wrestling history but that seems to be a pretty convincing case. I don't see a reason to exclude it. (Some kind of scientist 03:52, 1 December 2007 (UTC))

The original fact read:

I'm the one who removed it, and I did so because, as written, there's no actual connection made beyond the word "Legend", and I assumed it was merely grasping at straws. I have no knowledge of wrestling whatsoever, so this clears things up for me. -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 00:04, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I don't know what to call it, but that's definitely not a beret. Wear a Bikini 04:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

He's lower?

In the trivia section it says "Homestar's voice seems to be slightly lower." But I don't hear this. It sounds completely normal to me. I went back and watched Business Trip just to be sure and they sound the same to me. Anyone else agree? —NFITC1talk 16:23, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

No, it is "I'm done take me off the air"-- AWMPSCE T-E 21:55, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Really poor "remarks" section...

Do we really need remarks for Homestar's voice being lower (because he's speaking like a professional wrestler) and a group of people using the word "I" (because that's the way the words of the song go)? Both of these seem really reaching to me. 0rion 07:19, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Caddyshack Reference

At the end when Strong Sads dressed up like Gardenboy he refers to gophers. The movie Caddyshack has a character played by Bill Murray who is the golf courses greenskeeper, i.e. looks after gardens, lawns etc. Most of the time he is trying to fight off the gophers, at one point using fire and explosives. I think this is a reference to the movie. 203.109.151.60 01:08, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
