Flash Facts

I'm not sure where to put it on the page, but the "Up Next - Breakfast Unboxing w/ The Exact Same" screen that's in the Youtube video (after the "C-G-eeow" and before Couch Z) is in the flash file, you can see it with the Homestar All-In-One userscript if you have the flash controls enabled and press play after it pauses. --Emtu 06:59, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

It should definitely go in the "YouTube Version" section that, er, presently does not exist. The Flash version can be noted in Trivia with a "see below". --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:06, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
I went ahead and put it in, both the trivia and the YouTube section. Could somebody upload a screenshot? Apparently I don't have permission to register for an account. --107.178.36.94 21:01, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

The Real Reason?

So I was thinking, should we have a fun fact explaining why Senor Cardgage doesn't have a character video (IE that the character videos are from 2003 and Cardgage didn't even exist until 2004)? I feel like it might fall under too obvious/explaining the joke, but it apparently wasn't obvious to the person who sent the email. Freshasabagel 14:55, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Aside from it being bordering on explaining the joke, it's not even a complete reason. They could have updated the character videos to add one for Cardgage any time since then. The real reason is that he's not a main character, which definitely doesn't need noting on the page. — Defender1031*Talk 15:10, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
I was going to say a very similar thing there are many characters in the HR universe that don't have videos. The first ones to come to mind are The Commandos and the old timey versions I R F 15:15, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
The old-timey ones wouldn't be videos anyway, they'd be film reels or something. --Emtu 06:56, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Homestar's new mouth

Homestar gets a new face in this toon. Should this be mentioned here, if not his page? -- Mml554 talk 15:51, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Caddyshack

Despite claiming he has never seen a R-rated movie, Homestar has gone as Carl Spackler from the R-rated movie Caddyshack. Should this put under trivia? — 108.91.59.19 (Talk | contribs) 16:51, 15 August 2017 (left unsigned)

It's not really that notable. He might've never even seen the movie— maybe he just saw a picture of him or something. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 05:47, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Title

I think the title of this sbemail might be a reference to kind of cool, the first 'toon Senor Cardgage appeared in. -- Mml554 talk 18:49, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

It's not a reference to the toon specifically. The idea that Strong Bad thinks Senor Cardgage is cool is a running gag or just a quirk of Strong Bad's character. - Catjaz63 01:39, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Betaflop-D

Is the 'D' part of this a reference to D-VHS? --Everybody! Everybody! 21:08, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Release Date

Yes, the H*R.com main page says August 14. However, It's dot com created the page after midnight, and I also noticed last night that the YouTube video was made available at a time after midnight. This is probably pointed at DC, but did anyone notice if the toon was on the website before midnight EDT (before 04:00 15 August 2017 UTC)? The Knights Who Say Ni 05:39, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

I added the August 14 date to this page, because it was August 14 when I did so... in my time zone, which is not EDT. It's PDT. If we're using EDT as the standard (which makes sense) then I guess August 15 is actually more right. Jay (Talk | contribs) 10:56, 16 August 2017 (left unsigned)
The toon was not available on the website until somewhere around an hour after it was uploaded to YouTube. Or at least that's what I saw when I tried to view it. - Catjaz63 15:56, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

I'm reverting it to the 14th. The YouTube video shows a release date of August 14, and the official site reads "Last Updated 8-14-17". — It's dot com 04:01, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Investment Explanations

So... could someone with stock-trading experience please add brief summaries of what primary, secondary, and TER-ti-A-ry investments actually are under the Explanations section? Googling it's just getting me a bunch of ads for stock brokers. --45.33.129.178 13:58, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

And or I mean?

This is an almost nitpicky question, but does Strong Bad actually say "and nobody records on air freshener no more"? It kind of sounds like that, but it seems to me as if he's instead trying to say "I mean" within the space of like half a syllable, so that it comes out almost sounding not much like anything. That seems to make just the tiniest little bit more sense in the context. If that is the case, how should we transcribe it? Lira (talk) 17:58, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Family Might/Could

Does this constitute a new pseudocharacter? 24.7.135.160 05:11, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

I can see where the argument comes from, but I'd veer toward no, as the only character who treats the might/could as a character is... clearly not right in the head. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:14, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
I think it is technically kind of a pseudocharacter, depending on your definition, but either way it isn't really notable. It's so minor that it doesn't really deserve a page whether it is a character or not. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 19:38, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Regolith

I heard Legolith. StarFox 04:45, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

I don't. It's a pretty clear R sound. Lira (talk) 05:17, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Arrow Sign?

Does the sign have a page? if not, I think it should. It's also been in Strongest Man in the World and Where U Goin' 2?.

"Hot Jones Investment" - wearing or working?

This article (and Minor Companies) frame the green HJI polos that Strong Bad and Homestar are wearing as casual wear unrelated to their official jobs at The Office. Although this is definitely the case in other days ("we all wear the free polo shirts we got from various software companies") in this toon I get the sense that they are working at HJI:

  • In "other days", Strong Bad and Homestar are wearing different shirts. Here they are wearing the same branded shirts, implying it's their office uniform.
  • Homestar is specifically speaking about investments while on the phone.
  • By the time of this email's release, office culture had shifted to be more casual overall with polos (and even t-shirts) often not being restricted to a single day out of the week. For instance, white-collar workplace comic Dilbert had redesigned the characters to wear polo shirts by the time of "too cool" rather than suits and ties of the "other days" era.

I think it's reasonable to assume that the duo are meant to be working for Hot Jones Investment in the final scene. -- Bleu Ninja 18:19, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
