Opinion

In actuallity, I thought this e-mail was pretty funny. Or maybe I'm just like... pathetic. -- FireBird 22:48, 18 October 2004 (UTC)

I liked this email, i don't see why everybody hates it Sbdisciples 18:57, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

No name votes for Tapeleg goodness

At some point you'll notice that Strong Bad is static in his method of email jokes. It gets to the point where you can guess when he'll start sputtering excuses...or meandering into funny words...or listing-his-humor-with-hyphens-conjunctions-and-ellipses...

There was a point when Strong Bad truly did have pizzaz and not the mummification factor of the Simpsons. "The basics" was another one of those emails where it thrived alone; but those days are gone, baby, their greatest tenstiments unappriciated. 67.171.67.93 08:39, 28 December 2004

I don't think this is worst SBEmail...I think that honor would go to "some kinda robot". But maybe that's just me. -- sesameseed 04:40, 16 February 2005 (UTC)
I always liked "some kinda robot" a wholeloattabunch. It has a robot in it, it has "for good or for awesome" in it. Classic. Tape leg is very uninspired. - Dr Haggis - Talk 01:01, 16 Feb 2005 (MST)

I think that "best thing" the worst email- i really didn't like that one. Sbdisciples 18:16, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

You didn't like best thing? That's one of the best. 142.104.250.115 00:10, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

virus is the best. 12:00 is the worst 151.213.145.212 19:20, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

This is something for the forums. OpenSourceGreg 12:11, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I think this email isn't too bad. The reason it's funny is that Strong Bad so vigorously denies being a tape-leg, you get the idea that... maybe he is a tape-leg? And of course it inspired a lot of references. --195.92.67.77 18:07, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)

This email is just fine. You want to know what the worst email is? I'll tell you what it's: dreamail. That was one rotten pile of crap.—S*R 01:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Three weeks after I made my comment, TBC gave me another email to mock: road trip. That email lacked so much humor and was comprised of so many forced moments that I almost cried.—S*R 22:49, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Tape-Leg Strong Bad Figurine

What if they have finally made a Homestarrunner Figurine of Strong Bad with tape on his leg? -Viklas 17:09, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Halloweener?

Is is just me, or when homestar (dressed as Strong Bad) gets his legs DUCT TAPED in the email halloweener, it sparks the image of this email? OpenSourceGreg 12:15, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't think that's relevant, and I think it's a serious stretch. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 20:35, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
In one of the few emails released before this one, Strong Bad includes tape-leg in his Halloween costume. How is that not relevant? I've never noticed it before, but it doesn't seem like a stretch. Nicolas's brothers could've seen the email and assumed Strong Bad was some kind of tape-leg. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 05:18, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Claimant

On the YouTube video, user Nicolas Velilla is claiming he sent the video. He claims "I had asked why strong bad gave instructions to wrap your legs in tape when he was using homestar to demonstrate how to make a strong bad halloween costume. they told 10 year old me it was because his legs were made of tape". Wolf O'Donnel 07:27, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

We only note when an email was sent by a wiki user. Considering the above discussion, though, I could see this as a valid argument for noting the tape usage in halloweener. Lira (talk) 08:00, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
I wouldn't say we restrict it to wiki users, but we do restrict it to cases where such claims can be verified. I wouldn't mind the mention of the alleged halloweener origin, though. -50.234.189.37 03:36, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
Yes we do... when have we ever noted the identity of an email sender who wasn't a wiki user? Lira (talk) 05:05, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
Even if it was verified, the addition of the sender's identity as a fun fact would reveal nothing other than their last name, which isn't notable. But as you can tell from my reply to the discussion above, I definitely support including the halloweener reference. There had only been 18 emails at this point, and one of them included Strong Bad making a recreation of his legs out of tape. It's unlikely to be a coincidence. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 07:19, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
I disagree. It's plausible, certainly, but unless it's confirmed, it's still speculation. For what it's worth, I personally believe that it's probably legit, but from the wiki standpoint, we still have nothing to go on but our own reasoning and one random, unconfirmed youtube comment. — Defender1031*Talk 07:30, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
We don't have to phrase it like "Nicolas's question was probably inspired by a scene in halloweener." What if we just said, "halloweener included a scene in which tape was used to resemble Strong Bad's legs"? No speculation, just a remark. Lira (talk) 08:03, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
But the remark comes along with this implication, which is speculative. Either that, or the remark doesn't belong. We can't have it both ways. — Defender1031*Talk 08:32, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
Ryan Sturmer has no hrwiki account. -50.234.189.37 04:25, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
Okay, props to you for finding that. He's still a user on a wiki-affiliated site, though, unlike our friend Nicolas. Lira (talk) 05:14, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
Further, the sender of too cool doesn’t seem to have any known wiki affiliation. -50.234.189.37 15:33, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
Nor The Next April Fools Thing. -50.234.189.37 15:45, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
Twitter's different. There, the names of all the users are made public for all to see. So when Strong Bad accepts a Tweet to use in an e-mail, everyone knows who sent it. Actual e-mail is a private person-to-person thing. That's why senders need to come forward with proof. -- 68.37.43.131 15:52, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
I know, I’m not saying we have enough proof to note a sender here. I’m just disputing the claim that we only note wiki users. There’s nothing inherently more encyclopedic about a wiki user than anyone else. They just have historically (before Twitter) been the ones most likely to be verifiable. -50.234.189.37 16:01, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
