Cheating the The
 +
 +
*This is the first time that The Cheat has been directly addressed as just "Cheat" without the word "The" preceeding it, as well as the first time that Strong Bad has been directly addressed by another character with a "The" preceeding his name! This may possibly be an add-on to the senseless names used in this email, although it is more likely a transposition of The Cheat's 'the' to Strong Bad's name.
 +
 +
or
 +
 +
*When Homestar walks in on Strong Bad and The Cheat, he mixes up their names and greets them as "Cheat and The Strong Bad", transposing the "The". This is a new variation on Homestar's tendency to screw up other peoples' names.
 +
 +
The former was replaced by the latter. The problem is, even if you didn't like the original, the latter fact is utterly useless (basically repeats what's in the transcript.) You know, some people like knowing facts about the first time something happens - that's kind of the reason I split Trivia from Remarks (which is what the new fact is AT BEST) in the first place! --Jay 00:32, 19 Feb 2005 (MST)
 +
: I changed it to an alternate form that doesn't have the mention of "The Strong Bad" and doesn't have the unnecessary note appended to the end. I also added a comment requesting that people mention WHAT IS SO HORRIBLE about the fact before they change it or append useless comments to the end. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but BaconS's rewrite was useless incarnate, and we don't need to know WHY it's the first time he's just "Cheat"; the fact simply states that it IS. --Jay 00:06, 20 Feb 2005 (MST)
 +
 +
: I hope I don't bother anyone by changing it to the fact that it's the first time any character refers to The Cheat as simply Cheat. And I'm quite sure SB's been referred to as "The Strong Bad" before. --Shingen 18:37, 25 Feb 2005 (MST)

::It isn't. He called himself it in pizzaz. --Venusy 01:45, 26 Feb 2005 (GMT)
 +
 +
:This is kinda silly, because, in fact, he *isn't* really directly refered to as "Cheat", because it's a Homestar joke. What was written there before (Shingen's edit) made it sound like the brothers screwed up or something (you have to listen to/read the script carefuly to realise otherwise). I have edited to be less misleading (which involves mentioning the fact it was Homestar's screw up - not so bad, it's a fact after all). It's also a bit shorter now, which is good, because it's not a very important fact (it would be if the brothers *had* screwed up).

Using one of Strong Bad's Gags on my friends at school
 +
 +
I actually used the idea of the white chocolate Speed Stick at school on some of my friends.
 +
 +
Instructions on how to make your own Edible speed stick:
 +
 +
1. Clean out an old Deoderant container very good to get rid of the cake inside. (Make sure that you have CLEANED IT REALLY GOOD!)
 +
 +
2.Melt down the chocolate in your own special way into a liquid.
 +
 +
3. Lubricate the inside of the container with melted butter.
 +
 +
4. Pour the chocolate into the container and then put it into the refridge.
 +
 +
5. Be careful of the butter, it will be greasy! Turn the dial at the bottom to push the cooled chocolate up.
 +
 +
6. Now go ask someone if they want deoderant and eat it right in front of them!
 +
 +

The king eats deodorant...but what does he reference? (REVISED)
 +
 +
The King of Town's quip about the deodorants being "strong enough for a man" is a reference to "Secret" brand deodorant ads, whose slogan used to be "Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman." It's also a reference to Imperial Margarine adverts from the 1970's, wherein the slogan was "Imperial Margarine...with flavour fit for a King!".
 +
 +
*Now the first one is an obvious Accept, because the Secret deodorant ads are commonly known and widely quoted. The reference to Strong Bad's poopaw is one of the first four times, after "Homestarloween Party", "The Facts", and "Pizzaz", that Strong Bad is mentioned as having any other relatives besides Strong Sad.  The number of times that Strong Bad is mentioned as having any relatives at all, has got to be at least twenty.

There is the remark "Strong Bad refers to a "Totalslava". "Slava" means "fame" or "glory" in multiple Slavic languages such as Czech (sláva) and Russian (слава)." While this is true, in this context (that is, names of cities and whatnot), slava actually means slavic. The name for the people is probably derived from words like Czech slovo = word (those who can speak), and the word sláva (and other language versions) meaning fame or glory is derived from it. Yeah, apparently we used to thing a lot about ourselves =) Places that are called -slava mean they are Slavic, not famous.

An old version of the transcript said that the TV actor said, "You can't marry your guitar, Caleb!" instead of "Can you play your guitar, Caleb?" I listened to the file, and I actually think it's the first line. Who cares that "It don't make sense!!!!11111111111oneoneone"? Nothing on HSR makes sense! This may possibly be an add-on to the senseless names used in this email, although it is more likely a transposition of The Cheat's 'the' to Strong Bad's name.

or

  • When Homestar walks in on Strong Bad and The Cheat, he mixes up their names and greets them as "Cheat and The Strong Bad", transposing the "The". This is a new variation on Homestar's tendency to screw up other peoples' names.

I changed it to an alternate form that doesn't have the mention of "The Strong Bad" and doesn't have the unnecessary note appended to the end.
I hope I don't bother anyone by changing it to the fact that it's the first time any character refers to The Cheat as simply Cheat. And I'm quite sure SB's been referred to as "The Strong Bad" before. --Shingen 18:37, 25 Feb 2005 (MST)
It isn't. He called himself it in pizzaz. --Venusy 01:45, 26 Feb 2005 (GMT)
This is kinda silly, because, in fact, he *isn't* really directly refered to as "Cheat", because it's a Homestar joke.

[edit] Using one of Strong Bad's Gags on my friends at school

I actually used the idea of the white chocolate Speed Stick at school on some of my friends.

Instructions on how to make your own Edible speed stick:

1. Clean out an old Deoderant container very good to get rid of the cake inside. (Make sure that you have CLEANED IT REALLY GOOD!)

2.Melt down the chocolate in your own special way into a liquid.

3. Lubricate the inside of the container with melted butter.

4. Pour the chocolate into the container and then put it into the refridge.

5. Be careful of the butter, it will be greasy! Turn the dial at the bottom to push the cooled chocolate up.

6. Now go ask someone if they want deoderant and eat it right in front of them!

-D -Everybody!

Ya know, when school starts, I think I'll do that do somebody.-Ookelaylay 18:06, 14 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I am sooo trying that. -GG Crono

I had already planned that I was gonna' do that as a prank at school and now I know how! -Unregistered Person (Real Name: Stupid Uncle Egg's Poopaw)

These were on the STUFF page and declined. If you wish to contest these, leave a note here, but don't allow it to be confused with any of the original votes.

[edit] The king eats deodorant...but what does he reference? (REVISED)

  • Now the first one is an obvious Accept, because the Secret deodorant ads are commonly known and widely quoted. The second one I have to Decline, because I don't think that "tasty enough for a king" is close to "flavour fit for a King." --ISlayedTheKerrek 20:21, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pamcakes and Pimecones (DECLINED)

Homestar's use of the word "pimecone" instead of "pinecone" is reminiscent of his usage of the word "pamcakes" instead of "pancakes" in montage.

  • Neutral. I don't really know about this one. It... kinda has merit... hm... →evin290 19:55, 23 Feb 2005 (MST)

    • Comment If he always pronounced 'n's and 'm's, wouldn't he have said "pimecome"? Just saying... --Alun Clewe 01:40, 30 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Strong Decline Homestar has a speech impediment. He does pronounce 'n's as 'm's. This is amazingly obvious so it should not be a fun fact.
    • He never pronounces "Marzipan" as "Marzipam". --Trogga 18:41, 18 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Decline. And Homestar also pronounces R's as W's, but we're not putting that one in the funfacts either, are we? Kvb 14:10, 1 Apr 2005 (MST)
  • Comment Almost everyone is saying that this is common. But really - other than "pimecone" and "pamcake", when has Homestar EVER switched Ms and Ns? I can't think of even one other time. --Jay 03:21, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)

[edit] Bumdumbourge and Totalslava (DECLINED)

Bumdumbourg and Totalslava are obviously loose references to the countries Luxembourg and Bratslava.

  • Decline. Bratslava isn't a country, nor is it even spelled right! The correct spelling is Bratislava, which is the capital of Slovakia. The only one who could even really be considered a reference is Bumdumborge, and even that's a stretch. ISlayedTheKerrek
    • Second The Luxembourg reference is TOO obvious, and the "Bratslavia" too wrong. The former Yugoslavia would work better, but it's still pretty obvious that SB was just making up country-like names off the top of his head (similar to Dortugal and Prance.) --Jay 15:23, 15 Feb 2005 (MST)
    • Yeah, but at least Dortugal and Prance ARE real country names, only with the first letter changed. These ones are just totally random, and not correlating to anything, so... Second. --Shadow Hog 16:27, 15 Feb 2005 (MST)

      • Why the hell do you think nobody's commented on this since February 15? I know it was changed. We all know it was changed. Why do you think I STUFFed it in the first place? In a way it was to get it to be changed! Word to the wise, acekirby13, next time you try to post a fun fact, make sure it's as factual as possible. [edit] Strong Bad's Poopaw (Declined)

  • Decline This is addressed at the bottom of the page in another vote. We don't need any more of these "this is the first time that *so-and-so* does/says/reveals *thus-and-such*. Besides the line "one of the first four times" already makes this non-unique as a "fun fact" and therefore not fun. --TheEggman 22:07, 15 Feb 2005 (MST)
  • Decline "Homestar does not have a stupid uncle Egg". C'mon folks, the brothers Chap are making fun of people that make fun facts like this. --Donny vs Universe
  • Decline "Any other relatives besides Strong Sad"? What about Strong Mad? Even if the "fact" were revised to mention Strong Mad along with Strong Sad, though, it still wouldn't be noteworthy enough to be worth accepting. --Alun Clewe 04:07, 17 Feb 2005 (MST)

[edit] This is a goof?

"In Marzipan's newspaper, the word "easy" should be "easier."" doesn't seem like much of a goof too me. I mean, obviously the newspaper reporter made a goof, but he or she doesn't seem like a very diligent reporter, so it's not necessarily TBC that goofed. I think it's worthy of at least a note.

[edit] Coach Z's Finances

In this e-mail, he claims that he can't afford to go buy the "money-cost variety" of ice cream, yet in lunch special, he orders all kinds of food from Bubs' Concession Stand (hot wings, egg rolls, and a Cod Plank Platter). Has he had a financial crisis somewhere in between? --KoopaTroopa211 21:41, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] This is a special announcement...

I know it's not exactly the biggest part of the site, but I think we should have an article about the different narrators in each SBemail or toon. I mean, isn't the narrator here the same one that's used in radio? And what about the Commandos in the Classroom narrator? teeeffoh!

[edit] Marzipan's mouth?

has anybody noticed that when marzipan is sitting on the couch, before she talks to homestar, her mouth is shaped the old way (a U) and then after she talks to homestar her mouth is shaped the new way. (less U-ish, more straight.) maybe this should be acknowledged somewhere? posted by DDRfreak1 01:49, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I noticed, but I don't think it should be acknowledged somewhere, I think that's how her mouth is supposed to be.-Sly Kly

[edit] Pants?!

Coach Z claims he's going to "puke his pants," but later in senior prom Strong Bad expresses his surprise that he is the only person who wears pants, clearly indicating that whatever green clothes-stuff Coach Z wears on his legs are NOT pants. I think this should be noted somewhere, but I don't know where to put it... Fast Forward or Remarks? ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 03:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sláva

There is the remark "Strong Bad refers to a "Totalslava". "Slava" means "fame" or "glory" in multiple Slavic languages such as Czech (sláva) and Russian (слава)." While this is true, in this context (that is, names of cities and whatnot), slava actually means slavic. The name for the people is probably derived from words like Czech slovo = word (those who can speak), and the word sláva (and other language versions) meaning fame or glory is derived from it. Yeah, apparently we used to thing a lot about ourselves =) Places that are called -slava mean they are Slavic, not famous. King Klear 08:39, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
