Hey Strong Mad?

Could be just me...but I'm 90% sure that the first time Homestar say's "Hey Strond Bad" he's actually saying "Hey Strong Mad." Anyone else hear it?--ninja pirate 20:42, 10 Nov 2004 (MST)

I see what you mean, but I think he's saying Strong Bad. --Upsilon
I heard "Stong Mad," but maybe that's just me. -- sesameseed

Yeah I keep hearing "Strong Mad" as well. --Tony Stony 11:12, 11 May 2005 (UTC) The first time i hear strong bad the seccond time i hear strong mad could just be me--Someone 10:41, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)Someone

Forward Referencing #2 (REJECTED)

The one thing Strong Bad described would happen on the island that was not illustrated was salting his foot.. which didn't take place until interview.

  • I would have to say Decline to both of those. TBC probably have just been reusing cool ideas. Not any relation to future.
    • Second that.
    • Second --PolarBoy 09:49, 11 Jan 2005 (MST)
  • Decline. I doubt that Strong Bad salting his foot was in anyway foreshadowing another e-mail. Especially if we don't know if they had recieved the interview e-mail at that point.
    • Second Plus both of these are already on the pages for the japanese cartoon and island emails
    • Second, but you guys need to sign your votes or they don't count. Kamek 12:06, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)

  • Accept. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. --Upsilon
  • The Cline. This has nothing to do with it. Putting salt on his leg was just a reference to "I'd rather gnaw my own leg off.". Kvb 05:40, 12 Apr 2005 (MDT)

Forward referencing # 1 (ACCEPTED)

Homestar called Strong Bad Stinkoman. This is the name Strong Bad will use for his 20X6 counterpart in japanese cartoon.

  • Decline Its not the first time a character was created based on a throwaway gag (Homsar for instance).
  • Accept, since it's a fairly interesting point.
  • Accept This has been confirmed by TBC as the original source of the name "Stinkoman". I think this is significant enough to note here as well as in "japanese cartoon". - tim333
  • Modify, accept. Say that this is the first instance of the name Stinkoman. --Upsilon
    • Second. -- AgentSeethroo
    • Second Kamek 12:03, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
    • Second - GOOD example of forward referencing. Much unlike that "Eh! Steve" one at the top of the page. --Shadow Hog 19:34, 13 Feb 2005 (MST)
    • The One Second... TO RULE THEM ALL!!! Tom H 21:41, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline Fairly obvious and already noted on the Stinkoman page. Donny vs Universe
    • Comment. I don't see any problem with two pages cross-referencing each other. -- tomstiff 31 Mar 2005
  • Accept. This is important enough to warrant an entry. Dasrik 02:23, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)

Yami Yugi

Doesn't anyone think that when Strong Bad said "Yami Yugi" the second time (hesitant-style) he actually says Yami Yumi, a reference to the famous Japanese rock band Puffy Ami Yumi? That's what it's always sounded like. -FaceCrap 04:10, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Or maybe he does say Yami Yugi. I can't tell. -FaceCrap 13:52, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Actually, Yami Yugi is the name of one of the main characters in YU-GI-OH! --67.170.177.140 08:20, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Speaking of which, should that note go under real world references instead of where it is now? --67.170.177.140 08:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

No, it belongs where it is. Since the emailer, not TBC, made the reference, it wouldn't be a real-world reference. --DorianGray 08:24, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Homestar or Dumpface?

Was the "Dumpface" thing left in the transcript for 2 years because people actually preferred that to what he actually said or simply because no one noticed the error? Here's a link that focuses only on the edit in question. Bad Bad Guy 22:19, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree that the transcrip is what he SAYS. I personally just never noticed. — Defender1031*Talk 22:21, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
There's definitely a case for writing exactly what's on the screen. For the sbemails he receives, we always include the exact text of the email as it's received, even if he says something different (partly because of the blockquote we use for this). I still marginally favor preserving what he types, rather than what he says, simply to remain consistent with how we type the sbemail itself. It's not a big deal, though, and I'm a bit baffled as to why would bother bringing this up now, anyway, especially since the change was made over two months ago. This thead seems to come off as an effort to show how bad the editors of this wiki are to let an "error" [sic] remain. Heimstern Läufer 22:45, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Bad Bad Guy, that wasn't a very nice post. Don't assume it's an error when you assume it should be done differently. Apart from that, I agree with Heimi. Strange as it may sound, our transcripts always document what he types and then note exceptions when he pronounces things differently. It was good the way it was before and it should be changed back. Loafing 23:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
So you want us to change pom pom to this:
STRONG BAD: Let's see, how can we raise the stakes a little bit? Ooh! I'll be blindfolded! Truly this will be my greatest feat! {He puts on a blindfold with a rayed sun motif.} aligrt u.ln reay tui gi. {He says, Alright. I'm ready to go}
Bad Bad Guy 00:14, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
You're doing it again, Bad Bad Guy. You're assuming from the get-go that those who disagree with you are thinking wrong, and becoming somewhat hostile (especially when taking into account your edit summary about this getting "out of control"). This is exactly what Loafing just said you shouldn't do. Heimstern Läufer 02:41, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
It seems like a transscript should be a list of what is said in script form. If we wanted to document it as typed instead of as said, it would make more sense to put his typed reply to emails in that same blockquote that resembles his screen, which would probably cause confusion. The way it is now here and on pom pom, with the typed differences listed in brackets as actions, is best.--Antisexy 01:10, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

I doubt anyone will believe me, but my orignal intent for that first post was to see if I accidentally messed with some concensus the sysnops had regarding Strong Bad's quote. Bad Bad Guy 23:51, 11 September 2007 (UTC) I just want to say 1 more thing before I let this incident go. Strong Bad is the one who calls Homestar "Dumpface", not the person who wrote the email. So Hemi's argument was completely irrelevant. And now I give a final apology. Bad Bad Guy 23:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I really don't like how you're polluting this discussion by first assuming that the sysops, as a group, care about the wording on this page, and then dismissing others' valid arguments as irrelevant. We don't care and they're not irrelevant. That said, I think I agree with your stance, although I'm having trouble putting into words why I think so. — It's dot com 23:01, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

This is discussed further at HRWiki talk:Standards#Strong Bad's_Replies.

Bad Bad Guy, if you're going to dismiss my arguments as irrelevant (which is nonsense, but never mind that), at least do me the courtesy of spelling my name correctly. But frankly, you should rethink the idea of dismissing others' ideas as irrelevant at all. I've seen you do it a few times, and the essence of your argument has been "I don't agree with that perspective, so it's irrelevant." That reasoning doesn't work, sorry. Heimstern Läufer 23:12, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
The irrelevancy is not the fact that I disagree with you, it's the fact that "Strong Bad changing the wording of an email" and "Strong Bad changing the wording of his own reply" are 2 practically different situations. Bad Bad Guy 22:56, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
The word "irrelevant" means "having nothing to do with the matter at hand". My arguments most certainly did relate to the matter at hand and were thus obviously relevant. If you don't accept those arguments as persuasive, fine, but they're not irrelevant. Heimstern Läufer 23:10, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
