Ding! death metal is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Death grunt

According to Melissa Cross, the Death Grunt is not performed in the bowels of the lungs. [1]

Late STUFF - *krieg

"krieg" is the German word for "War," and is often used in compound words, such as "Kriegsmarine" and "Blitzkrieg." So "Brainkrieg" would mean "Brain War," although that would really be "Gehirnkrieg." This may be a nod to Germany as an alternate source of death metal bands.

More of the same

Another 'hey, this is what all the music from this genre sounds like' strong bad email? Oh well, the rusty meat was funny.

Strong Bad likes generalisations, doesn't he? --DorianGray
totally. also notice all of those bands are incredibly bad and steriotypically punk. are the brothers chaps trying to send some sort of message here? Seriously 20:51, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I agree, all two of those bands were very punk. And those deutch sounding words that Taranchula used sounded like they could've been more punk than metal as well. And I know TBC were trying to make a legitimate contribution to the death metal scene, but trying just ain't good enough. They should really think twice before making such laughable music.
The music is laughable on purpose. This was a good one.
This is why I don't sign sarcastic comments.

Actually Taranchula's music does fit comfortably into the realm of death metal. Death Metal's roots weren't all about being the fastest band on the planet. There was actually a lot of early Black Sabbath, Venom and Celtic Frost influences when reporters first started using the death metal term, (but they weren't the fastest or heaviest bands on the planet). However, Slayer does credit much of their heavier faster music to punk, so the connection is valid if misunderstood. And, remember this is parody... not mocking.

Square Mad

I thought Strong Mad bending down was very... Insightful. I had no idea just how "Square" he really was... Thunderbird 20:45, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that guy's like a big square. It's just weird is all. Un...settling. And creepy. Although we've seen that sort of thing in fingers before. --DorianGray
We also get a sense of Strong Mad's shape in Strong Bad is a Bad Guy, though the character styles are a bit different there. I think this cartoon shows it the most clearly, so far. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:50, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
The Strong Mad Figurine is also a big square, replicated exactly as seen in the cartoon. —BazookaJoe 20:54, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Mmmmh. I gotta get that set soon. I've only got set #2. Thunderbird 21:08, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, the figurine has him with more of a football-shaped top. SaltyTalk! 21:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

But still really flat though, right? --DorianGray
Oh yeah, flat as a pamcake. SaltyTalk! 22:06, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

This is not at all the first time we've seen the top of Strong Mad's body, so I don't see why it should say that... --Spanky The Dolphin 23:41, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

When was another time? Darthvader66 01:39, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

There was fingers, and we see him from the side in Strong Bad is a Bad Guy. SaltyTalk! 01:44, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that actually reall freaked me out, when he bended over. I was creepy! o_0 Bassium! m OCE

Should we mention this as a fast-forward in the email the facts?--Martin925 03:23, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
No. —BazookaJoe 04:52, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

I think that it should be mentioned somewhere. This is the first time we've seen Strong Mad with any amount of perspective. Obviuosly we can't account for every minute change over the years, but this is revolutionary!!! (jk) --Bobo the King 05:27, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

The big thing is that his top has been seen before, in fingers. It just wasn't as obvious as it was this time. Thunderbird 05:31, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

I thought Strong Mad was funny looking when I saw the top of him. Gm1121983 10:36 pm, 26 January 2006

What the crap is up with the edit conflicts??

Did something change in MediaWiki recently that causes edit conflicts to occur when two people submit edits to COMPLETELY DIFFERENT sections of the page at the same time? Twice now, I've had to resolve multiple edit conflicts while I'm editing, say, Easter Eggs, and another person edits Remarks. I thought MediaWiki was supposed to be smart enough to handle both of those edits independently of one another. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:58, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

I thought so, too. Anyhow, it's bugging the crap out of me. —FireBird|Talk 21:01, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
It just did it for me as well. —AbdiViklas 21:15, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
It's not fixed in the version that we are running. —BazookaJoe 21:24, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I distinctly remember this working (and thus not having this section-editing problem) BEFORE the whole NSMC mess forced us to upgrade our security. I wonder if the new security components are affecting things... — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 21:56, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Wouldn't that go under something like TGS Issue 10.3 or something? Darthvader66 23:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Are you sure it's TBC? Choco

Almost sure... he was just online, and I got all freaked out and started acting weird so I blocked him/them out of embarrassment. ^_^;; {pant pant} I think I started to hypervenilate... --MrsCommanderson 00:02, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

OMG, it's Taranchula!

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe this is the first time we've actually SEEN Taranchula in person. Shouldn't that be noted? -GG Crono

We see Matt Chapman play Dave Bjornborg in the Strong Bad Email DVD feature Moving Very Slowly. —BazookaJoe 02:25, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Certianly the referance from Email 16 should be noted. - Narpas

Bjornborg

Dave Bjornborg seems like it comes from Sample of Style. Perhaps that name was floating around in TBC's heads when they were naming Taranchula members. Thoughts? —BazookaJoe 02:30, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

The only problem with that theory is that Björn Borg is a real person. So really, it's more like they're two indepedent real-world references. I think I'll add it in as a Real-World reference, though. Heimstern Läufer 03:17, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Oregon

It's intersting to me that Strong Bad seems to have learnt to pronounce "Oregon" correctly in the past 120 emails: back in spring cleaning, he incorrectly called it "Or-e-gahn". I imagine that's not exactly worthy of a reference on the page, but I did think it was notable. Heimstern Läufer 03:28, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

I thought of that too, though it's not especially notable. Sometimes Strong Bad pronouces it correctly, sometimes he doesn't. I can't think of any examples right now, but if you take a look at Strong Bad Email By Place, I'm sure you'll find some. Has Matt? (talk) 03:31, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
True, although unlike most of Strong Bad's funny pronunciations, that one may not have been intentional, since Or-e-gahn is a common pronunciation error.
I always figured people mispronounced "Oregon" in the same way they (correctly) pronounce "Polygon", "Hexagon", etc. - as if "Oregon" was a type of polygon. In any event, it's a common enough pronunciation issue that it's probably not worth noting, any more than just putting in the transcript that he puts the emphasis on "Gon". — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 22:17, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and another thing: Strong Bad spelt "Whoa" the more normal way in this email after having spelt it "Woah" for quite some time. Heimstern Läufer 03:36, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Interestingly enough, it's not uncommon for midwesterners to pronounce it or-eh-GAHN as there's an Oregon Illinois whose name is commonly pronounced that way.

Delouse

I don't know if this is valid or not, but the band "The Mars Volta" named their first album "Deloused in the Comatorium". They are not a death metal band by any means, but "delouse" is really not a very common word. Does anyone think this might be a reference?

After hearing their stuff (and rather enjoying it, in a "this must be good for my brain in some way" way), no; I think "delouse" was just a hilarious word choice, and in all the zillions of bands out there it was just a given that someone would have used it in some way. —AbdiViklas 06:08, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

First email with live-action?

Is this the first sbemail that features live-action video? I don't know if any previous one has it so maybe it should be mentioned. Just a thought.

Limozeen did show up in an easter egg for flashback. There may be other examples, but that's the one I could think of immediately. Heimstern Läufer 07:42, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Plus there's the bit at the end of the Limozeen cartoon in best thing. --71.197.114.207 09:59, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Non-neutral POV on Headbanger's Ball fun fact

Who says Motley Crue isn't metal? Motley Crue is so metal!! I'll kick your face off, man!

Taranchula logo

I just noticed that Taranchula's logo is extremely similar to the logo of Immolation, a popular death metal band. Check it out:

File:Immolfire.gif

Terlet Brush 01:53, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Interesting. If that holds, it should be listed in Taranchula's article. :) Good find! — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 05:50, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
I just put it in the Taranchula article, with the two logos side by side. It probably should be mentioned in band names too. Terlet Brush 06:05, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Done. Terlet Brush 06:09, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

It's worth mentioning that Taranchula and Immolation have similar logos, I just wouldn't go so far as to call it a full fledged reference. Darth Katana X (discussionitem_icon.gif user.gif mail_icon.gif)

I'd also like to say that, to my eyes at least, at least Taranchula's is readable... Just sayin'. --DorianGray
I think part of the issue there is that the center of the letters appear to be set to transparent, and intended for use on a black background. —AbdiViklas 16:21, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
I've uploaded a clearer image here (Trey56 17:34, 19 January 2006 (UTC)):Image:Immolation logo.jpg
Yes, that's much better. Terlet Brush 21:00, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Jaranchula

I think its pretty clear that the Scandinavian band says "Ja, we are Jaranchula" This makes sense because the first letter is so stylized that it looks like a J. The last time I changed something that was this clear, it got changed back, so i'm just gonna whine about it and not fix it. -JamesDean

Sometimes, things like that aren't nearly as clear to others. It's kind of a tough call sometimes. But we encourage you to be bold about it - just go ahead and edit, and if it gets reverted again, take a look at the edit summary for a reason. If you still disagree, that's the time to take it to STUFF. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 22:34, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
I say "Taranchula" because that's how Strong Bad pronounced it in band names. SaltyTalk! 04:19, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
I sat "Taranchula" because that's what the credits for the video (in the normal font) say. - Some guy who promises to register on the wiki some day :)

ladeezluvlarry71

Incidentally, Conan O'Brien had LL Cool J on his show very recently and introduced him by his full stage name (Ladies Love Cool James - see most recent RW Reference). That probably explains why TBC thought to give Larry that screenname. Terlet Brush 14:59, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Lyrics to "The Decoupage"?

Anybody catch the words to the music video? I got "You will submit to the decoupage" and then lost it after that. Little help? TaranchulaVamp15 15:43, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

  • I also heard it as "You will submit to the decoupage." Just to back you up. - 204.155.72.129 23:37, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm curious about another thing: I heard the one line as "death knell," not "death nail." (A death knell being a church bell tolled when someone dies; the prase seems to be popular in poems about death.) But I'm unsure. I dunno what the procedure is for approving such changes, so I'll wait until someone does before I change it. - Octan 9:06PM, January 20 2006 (EST)

Actually, the "procedure" is exactly what you're doing. Congratulations! (The hierarchy: if it's not a big deal and fairly uncontroversial, go ahead and make the change yourself (the be bold! doctrine); if it would require a lot of work to do or undo, or if there's significant disagreement, bring it up here and give it time for discussion; and if there's flat-out difference of opinion, STUFF.)
Just a cursory listening just now sounds leaves me unable to conclude nail or knell, either way. Both would make sense contextually—"knell" because it's a real phrase, and "nail" because... well, there's a nail. In the rusty meat. —AbdiViklas 06:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
That's just it; I can't really be sure myself. I'd rather get second opinions since it might make sense either way. For now, I'll just post a Remark that it might be one or the other. By the way, do the DVDs have subtitles that we can check it against once the next one comes out? - Octan 12:26PM, January 20 2006 (EST)
I think "death knell" makes more sense, because nowhere else in the song are nails or meat mentioned. Has Matt? (talk) 17:29, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes. But at the very moment that they sing the line in question, a nail punctures the steak. —AbdiViklas 19:33, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

The phrase "death knell" hadn't occured to me while listening to it before reading this discussion. I listened to it again, carefully, just now - they were definitely pronouncing it "nay-ill" at least once of the two times they say the phrase. Since "knell" is pronounced "nell" (as in the name "Nellie"), I think that "nail" is more likely myself. I realize that the accent in the South is different than where I'm from (Pacific NW - we tend to have no accent here), but usually accents are much less pronounced in song, I've noticed.

Hence lending credence to it being a pun on "knell". :) — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 21:30, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Less pronounced? Ever heard of a guy called Dave Matthews? or some guys called Matchbox 20? Those, of course, aren't so much intensifications of regional accents so much as individual stylistic mutations of pronunciation. That's what I percieved as going on here; it could be "nail" or it could be "knell" in a "kneyeyell" sort of pronunciation. —AbdiViklas 04:08, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Blond vs. Blonde

Actually, this is a response for Jay: you reversed this comment from blonde and blond being equally okay to blonde applying only women. I don't really have any prior knowledge on the matter, and no more definite authority than dictionary.com, but it seems to contradict you. Could you perhaps cite something more specific? —AbdiViklas 06:39, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

I think that "blonde" is just a different way to spell "blond"--DumDe 11:32, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Nope, AbdiViklas is right. Blond refers to men, blonde to women. TaranchulaVamp15 11:54, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, that was Jay who expressed that; I was suggesting the opposite. But looking further, I've helped disprove myself: while Merriam-Webster (I can no longer link directly to definitions there!) defines "blonde" as "a person having blond hair" (and even is gender-neutral for platinum and strawberry blonde), my Merriam-Webster 11th Collegiate on my handheld says "spelled blond when used of a boy or man and often blonde when used of a girl or woman". So while it seems that it would still be okay to refer to a woman as "blond," the point is Strong Bad's usage is okay, so no goof. —AbdiViklas 17:06, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

The confusion is due to the fact that the words "blond" and "blonde" are derived from Old French. Thus, according to the rules of the language, "blond" was masculine and "blonde" was feminine. However, those distinctions have blurred in modern times, and the words may be used interchangeably for either gender now.

Yeah, there are other words from French that have different spellings (but identical pronunciations) for the different genders that many people are unaware of; for instance, fiancé and fiancée. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 17:07, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Whoa, supah soivice, 71.117.1.39! Anyone who works the words "Old French" into everyday conversation gets my respect. (Vulgar Latin gets my respect plus a cupcake.) —AbdiViklas 01:53, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Half-Hour Death Metal...

MTV had a show called the Heavy Metal Half-Hour in 1987. It later became the Hard 30, then disappeared entirely. | 65.78.2.81 15:52, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Intriguing! Proving hard to verify, though. Searches for "hard 30" on Wikipedia and Google yield nothing. (Nothing pleasant anyway...) (No, seriously, it's fine; I just wanted to use that quote.) Can you direct us to any supporting material? —AbdiViklas 16:24, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
I was going off memory, but I found some links. I still remember the first episode I saw in March of '87, which led off with Stryper's "Free," followed by the debut of Whitesnake's "Still of the Night." I was 13. Needless to say, I was mesmerized. Anyway, references to the Heavy Metal Half Hour:
  • [2] White Metal News (2-6) offers info on the following: Stryper (a transcript of a short appearance on MTV's Heavy Metal Half Hour, late 1986).
  • [3] I watched the Heavy Metal Half Hour on MTV everyday after school and then stayed up on weekends when the Metal Half Hour got cut and became the Headbanger's Ball.
  • [4] You people are making me feel old (I'm only 33). Summer of 1986 MTV had a show called the "Heavy Metal Half Hour" the opening music of the show was the beginning of Angel of Death.
  • [5] Yo me acuerdo cuando existia "Heavy Metal Half Hour" (means "I remember when there was a show called HMHH")
Considering the Brothers Chaps' ages, I'm pretty sure this is what they were referring to. I hope that helps. | 65.78.2.81 04:58, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
I'll say it helps! I'll take the liberty of adding your comment at the top of this section as a Fun Fact. —AbdiViklas 05:57, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, I did a search, and I came up with a few bands with de words, like "Death", "Devourment", Devlyn, and "Deicide", but I wasn't able to get to any lyrics (stupid parental blocks stop me from getting anywhere) SaltyTalk! 04:35, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
"Blind Leading the Blind" by Carcass has the following lines:
Blood and tear - out d*** spot out
The fruits of perpetual decay
Pouring the salts in open wounds - out d*** spot out
The scars remain, will stay perpetual decay
Bloody hands never wash clean
Abject misery to bleed
Decadence to feed
Out d*** spot out
Carcass was pretty popular as the genre goes, and they were known for bizarre lyrics. | 65.78.2.81 05:03, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Amusingly, the line above that got censored, as well as the general gist of the passage, isn't so random, and didn't originate with Carcass. It's a quote from Act 5 Scene 1 of Macbeth (arguably Shakespeare's most "death metal" play, narrowly edging out the tongue-severing gore of Titus Andronicus with the added preoccupations with witchcraft and fatalism). —AbdiViklas 19:41, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, although I think the actual line from Macbeth is "d---ed" spot. I guess Carcass gets points for trying to be literate in between writing songs like "Genital Grinder" and "Exhume to Consume." (For the record, I don't listen to death metal at all. I got off the heavy metal train at the Homestar grunge station and never got back on.) | 65.78.2.81 15:18, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Decency Defied includes the following lines:

Dissect to collect

...

To you a design
Now a trophy made mine
To you a design
Now a trophy made mine

...

Violence defined

Blunt Force Castration, includes the words destroys, Deforming, Detatched, Deprived, and Desexualized

I've taken the liberty of simply extracting the de- words from some of the lyrics above. I'm not a fan of censorship, but we do try to keep the wiki friendly for the littlest, tiniest babies, and I felt like some of the thematic material, more so than language issues, was kinda moving out of that zone. Plus it's getting a little off-topic: I'm guessing you could find "de-" words in most songs from all genres; the joke in this email probably grew out of the fact that the first four words Strong Bad thought of started with de-. —AbdiViklas 21:20, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

I was really looking for heavy -de content, rather than occasional mention. I guess Strong Bad was just guessing, and this is all that he could say, rather than the actual lyrics.

For a laugh though, here are some real lyrics. Content warning for all of the below.

I Cum Blood -Cannibal Corpse

Scream Bloody Gore -Death

Seduced Akercocke

Necrophiliac -Slayer (OK, not exactly Death Metal, but same idea lyrically)

--Swimma Dan

The most well-known death metal lyrics are those of Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face"

They came in last place

If Brainkrieg came in last place of the "Battle of the Crappy High School Bands", does that mean that they were the best band that showed up? -Marth 99 19:17, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Scandinavian countries

Someone keeps editing that Iceland is not part of Scandinavia, a fact that is wrong. The following contries is part of Scandinavia: Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Scandinavia also includes the Faroe Islands. Scandinavia does not include Finland, that is the only exeption.

I ask my mom about where to find some proof later this day. Until then, lets just read the following swedish quote: "Till Skandinavien räknas: Danmark, Färöarna, Island, Norge och Sverige." from [6]. In a bad engilsh translation: To Scandiva counts: Denmark, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway and Sweden

Not according to the Wikipedia. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 10:30, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
I can't find the proofs, so I don't edit it again. Until I find it. And Wikipedia is not to be trusted completly.

Actually, Wikipedia does include Iceland in Greater Scandinavia, mentioned later in the main article. -- Mycroft Holmes 20:13, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Just for reference, I did not word the fact as such and was only going based off of Wikipedia (immediately linked) for the info. Frankly, I don't know or even care much; I was just going by the precedent set by other users. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 20:58, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
81.235.29.245, please see my comment on your anonymous IP talk page. Plus anyone else interested in this thread, it would probably be helpful. Bottom line: as evident by the "neutrality disputed" tag and talk page, the issue is hotly debated by a spectrum of opinions based in varying historical and politcal positionalities. After a cursory review of them, though, it seems to me like the definition we currently have is the most appropriate. —AbdiViklas 01:49, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
please don't help spread ignorance, finland is not in scandinavia.

Can anyone blow up the image of Homestar's box of corn flakes? I want to see what it says nut I haven't been able to read it yet. I R F 14:28, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Deli-whatnow?

What IS Deli-style anyway? – The Chort 13:09, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

The style of a deli, I guess? I don't know. Strong Bad has an affinity for putting the word "style" in random words or phrases. Hmm... running gag, prehaps[sic]? Has Matt? (talk) 13:27, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
I've seen it applied to lots of different foods, evidently increasing their appeal in some way. The one that springs to mind is potate chips. —AbdiViklas 05:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
deli style refers to sliced meat and/or cheese, I think. Like "Deli Style Ham" as opposed to "Honeybaked Ham".--אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

Email song

Am I the only one who doesn't hear the resemblance in the e-mail song and the 50 Cent song? I even tortured my ears again with the 50 Cent song and there's not really much similarity except the rhythm, which could be anything. Crystallina 22:41, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm dismayed to see that this is still on the page. Way back in the day I recall one person adding it to the page. I wasn't, and am not, about to buy a copy even for 99 cent (iTunes humor) to verify, but I didn't want to delete it without disproving it. (And before the conversation heads that way, I don't hate rap, Curtis Jackson is a brilliant artist, and yes, it's a fun song. It's just that when supporting a rapper feels so similar to supporting Britney Spears it weirds me out.) Anyway, I'd love it if someone would either offer conclusive proof or disproof, because it's making me antsy having it there as a confident "is a reference to" statment. —AbdiViklas 03:13, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I went on allmusic.com and to hear a sample of the song. I really don't hear the similarity either. Maybe if SB said "email" to the tune of the strings, it would make sense. If you know anything about sequencers, you will be able to hear that in SB's song, he adds a kick hit on steps 6 and 14, which "In da Club" doesn't have. Paulsint 14:25, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
  • If he went "email...email...email", I might have heard a slight similarity, but it still wouldn't be enough. As it stands, it's not even close - the only way they're the same is in how "email" sounds, which, as said, could be anything. Danny Lilithborne 00:50, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Horriffic?

Though "extracurriculariffic" is obviously not a word, the "riffic" part borrows from "terrific", which is spelled with one "f", so, as much as can apply to made-up words, it's misspelled.

Blonde hair

It's interesting that Strong Bad believes only Glam Metal bands have blonde hair, because Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse and every member of Children of Bodom all have blonde hair. -Swimma Dan

T-Tops

I removed this remark...

Larry Palaroncini's lyric "Driving ... with the t-top down?" makes no sense, as a T-top cannot be lowered, but rather opened by removing two panels from the top of the car.

...because it's not actually true. While a t-top or targa top car does not have a mechanism to mechanically lower the top, the panels are normally taken down by hand and stored in the back of the car. So it's not uncommon to hear it referred to as driving with the t-top or targa top down. This would be in the same sense that you take a tent down, for instance. It has been taken down and stowed.

If that change is inappropriate, I apologize. 209.128.67.234 21:44, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

is it notable to mention that on a psp the im box with Larry and tv with taranchula are blank on the flash file? (I made this edit on my PSP!)

The steak in The Decoupage

The steak used looks to me like a ribeye, sometimes referred to as a delmonico steak. Should probably be put in the fun facts somewhere, but I have no idea which section.

Though a Delmonico steak doesn't have to be made from a rib eye cut. -- Tom 01:08, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
It doesn't have to, but Wal-Fart labels their ribeye steaks as "ribeye/delmonico steak." That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Ok, but I don't think there's evidence to support including a mention of "Delmonico". The speculation is indeed interesting, however. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 09:19, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

50 Cent

Does anyone else think the email song in this one sounds like that 50 Cent song, The Club, or something?--Marvelrulez

No. I think it sounds like "United" by Judas Priest, who are a squealy band like which Strong Bad advises us aspiring death metal types not to sound.

But in the commentary they even state that it's a very hiphoppy intro to a death metal email Marvelrulez 18:09, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Limozeen becoming annoying to Strong Bad?

This is the first instance I've seen where Strong Bad isn't happy to see a member of the band Limozeen. True he was bobbing his head to the song, but he seemed to not want to spend time with Larry. This might be for a few reasons, pehaps suggesting that Limozeen haven't been busy since the 80's (Guitar Hero suggests they are from the 80's) Considering that both in cartoons and commentaries Strong Bad has always given praise to the band and it's members (Monster Truck, Best Thing, Coloring, Concert) it seems unusual that he's disinterested to see Larry here. Does Larry have nothing better to do? He even prepares a song for the sbemail.

Possible Popeye the Movie reference?

When Strong Bad says, "I'm no geographist, but... " that could be a reference to Popeye the Movie, when Popeye sings "I am what I am". Several of the lines or lyrics sounds very much like this.

"I'm not a doctor, but I knows when I'm losin' me patients."

"I ain't no physicist, but I knows what matters."

It may not be true, but it seems like the Chaps and my family have a lot in common when it comes to 80s pop culture.

It's also a common manner of speech, so i say no. — Defender1031*Talk 12:28, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Limozeen's Last Stand

It's been 21 months since this email's release and we haven't seen a live-action Limozeen video since. When would we note that this is their last appearance? Bad Bad Guy 02:10, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

We wouldn't. — Defender1031*Talk 06:10, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
I can't speak for the community, but I will say that I think "last time" facts are rarely worth inclusion. The fact that they are subject to being made out-of-date on a regular basis not only creates the possibility for additional work for us, but it makes the facts less interesting, in my opinion. The exceptions to this would be cases in which we're talking about the last occurrence of something that is clearly out of date today, that is to say, an element of TBC's older style that is no longer in use. Heimstern Läufer 06:25, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Drum or Guitar?

First time ever posting to a wiki, so sorry if I muck this up, but this has been bugging me...

In the transcript, it says that Strong Bad is imitating drum sounds, but I had always been under the impression that it was guitar noises. This makes more sense with his later comment, as a quadruple bass pedal is something that exists in Guitars - though the explanations section says it does not exist for drums. It would also allude to the last time Strong Bad made instrument noises in sbemail 36, Guitar. If he plays guitar as he alledges in that email, then a quadruple bass pedal is something he could reasonably consider getting?

This theory is somewhat shot in the foot by the fact that those are definitely drums in the scene before, but I thought I'd add to the discussion and let someone more competent than me find a solution. — 73.214.100.26 (Talk | contribs) 08:17, 25 June 2016 (left unsigned)
